Jericho Series Finale

I'm really hoping tonight isn't the last time I see the cast and crew create a new episode of Jericho. Though, I fear it may be. However, regardless of what the future holds for Jericho, I am atleast thankful that CBS listened to the fans and gave us a second season and hopefully a proper ending.

Leaving the show with the cliffhanger from season one would've been terrible after all of the time that the fans invested in the show and wanting to know what happened would've bothered me for a very long time. Thankfully they were given the opportunity to film an ending that wraps things up nicely.

The odds of Jericho getting picked up by another network are pretty small but anything is possible and I wont give up hope. Either way, Jericho is one of the best shows I have ever watched and one of the few that holds my attention from start to finish every week. Atleast I will always have my season DVDs to watch.

Today's HUGE 24 News (Spoilers for season 7)

::LAST SPOILER WARNING::

I'm still in shock that FOX actually released a press release with such a huge spoiler in it. If you haven't read already (even tho its on TV.com's front page under news) Tony Almeida, previously thought to be dead in Season 5, is going to be alive and well in Season 7. It hasn't been said if he is going to be a series regular or if this will be a guest appearance. Will we merely see a tape of Tony, rather than him actually being alive? Who knows. Only January 13 2008 wll tell us.

I've always thought that Tony Almeida was the best character, not named Jack Bauer, on 24. Carlos Bernard is a great actor who took a pretty standard and bland supporting character that Tony was in season one and turned him into a huge fan favorite. Tony started out being the annoying, pissed off CTU employee who hated Jack and always disagreed with him. He was also around to be a red herring, "is he or isnt he" the mole in the first season. Season two, the writers gave Tony and Michelle a decent background romance story that captivated the fans and propelled him to the forefront. Season three Tony was just a big a character as Jack and from there he never looked back. Season four gave us the most memorable character return in 24 history when Tony swooped in to save Jack and Audrey. Hopefully, Tony's season seven return will be even better than season 4.

I love 24 and will always be a loyal and die-hard fan no matter what they do. I've never missed an episode and I never will. I just hope and pray that the writers have a very intelligent and entertaining way of bringing Tony back and are not just doing this for ratings. Season seven could be one of the best of all time.

Other TV thoughts:

- Can't wait for season two of Heroes to begin next week. I am presently watching the first season since I missed all of it last year. Bought the first season dvd's today and have already blown through the first disc and a half.

- Mentioned it in the last blog, but I am really looking forward to next week's season premiere of Smallville. I've always been a Superman fan and seeing Clark fight Bizarro is going to be great stuff. Also looking forward to seeing what happened to Lana (unlike many fans on here I actually don't mind her and Clark's relationship).

- Been watching a few of Kevin Smith's movies lately and it made me really want the My Name is Earl season premiere to come sooner. Jason Lee is hilarious and I cannot wait for a new season of Earl.

Fall Season Begins -- Prison Break/K-Ville Review

The fall season has begun. I've been looking forward to this for awhile. I always enjoy and hate the fall every year. Plenty of new shows to get involved in but plenty of disappointment when they are cancelled after 4 episodes. Every year I try not to get involved too much with new shows for the fear that they will get cancelled but I always get too attached and extremely disappointed.

The first new show of the fall started last night with FOX's K-Ville. I've been looking forward to this one for awhile. I like the idea of the show taking place in post-Katrian New Orleans and have always thought this show has a ton of potential. After viewing the pilot episode I still think it has plenty of potential; it just needs to start showing it better. The "plot twist" of last nights episode was pretty far-fetched and the writing was lacking at times. However, it still has a great general plot, a great lead actor in Anthony Anderson (a very underrated actor, just watch him on The Shield and tell me he doesnt have talent...you can't), a good supporting actor in Cole Hauser (hasn't shown a wide acting range, but I've always enjoyed his work as atleast being entertaining), and plenty of great scenery to teach people about New Orleans' condition. I really hope this show continues to get better with each episode and can hold onto its audience after pretty good ratings for the premiere. I'm not getting my hopes too high as this show is by no means guaranteed to last.

Prison Break started its third season last night. Yet again they pulled off a very exciting and entertaining season premiere. I'm glad to see Michael and the gang back in jail. The first season was superior to the second because it had the best main character: the prison. The gang being on the run was fun but it started to lose steam in the middle of the season and was saved by some pretty extraordinary episodes at the end of the season. I just hope that the plot ideas don't mimic what was done in season one. Considering the vast difference between Fox River and Sona, I don't see that being an issue. The inmates are much scarier in Sona and will provide plenty of tense moments. I'm also hoping that Mahone and Michael start to coexist soon. I've always liked Mahone's character as he is a supreme badass and played by the ultra-talented William Fichtner. Michael employing Mahone in his latest jail-break will be extremely fun to watch. I have a feeling I'm going to love this season.

Looking forward to the rest of my favorites coming back. Next week's Smallville premiere is going to be great.

CBS Say It Ain't So...

Maybe I shouldn't be as surprised as I am, but I was so angry and shocked this morning when I read that Jericho had been canceled.  I could not believe that the one new show that I really fell in love with this season is not going to be back next fall.  Jericho really was the best new television series I watched this season (I probably would rank Heroes higher but I never got into it and am waiting for the DVD set to come out).  It had a great cast, a great storyline and it was constantly improving. The last three episodes were the best of the season.

I hate how CBS lets Jericho leave us with a huge cliffhanger, where I was literally on the edge of my seat wishing that the episode/season was not over.  It will be semi-satisfying to read interviews with the creators/writers and find out what they would have done next season.  However, it is still going to feel empty that I cannot continue to enjoy such a great show.

I was really shocked because Jericho had such great ratings in the first half of its season.  Granted the ratings did drop off in the second half but that is more to blame on CBS than on the cast and crew and fans of Jericho.  CBS should hold themselves to blame since they are the ones that kept Jericho on hiatus for almost 3 whole MONTHS.  That is a long time for an audience to be expected to wait on a show that has only been on for a half a season.  Even shows like Lost and Heroes suffered dramatic ratings drops this season because of their long layoffs.  The show did not suffer in quality, in fact it only got better. However, CBS and their 3 month layoff is what ultimately doomed the show.

I'm hopeful that Jericho will get picked up by another network. I'd even love it if USA or TNT picked it up, but someone like FOX, CW, ABC or NBC would better.  It's a tall order and really just wishful thinking, but a fan can always believe in something.  Besides, JAG I don't really remember too many shows that were dropped by a major network and went on to succeed on another network. But I'll continue to hope that one of this season's best freshman shows will return somehow.

Long live Jericho!

First I must say that I'm a sucker for teen drama shows that have beautiful women. Sophia Bush got me hooked on One Tree Hill and Amber Heard has done the same to me on Hidden Palms. Any show those two make could be complete crap and I would watch it anyways.

Hidden Palms, however, is not complete crap. It's not the greatest show out there; it has plenty of things wrong with it. However, I like the fact that the show taken a tired and overdone format (the teen drama) and tried to liven it up and make it something original by including a mystery.

As a fan of the Law and Orders, Monk, Moonlighting and just about every other show that involves "detectives" solving a crime or mystery, I was hooked by the fact that more than anything (except Amber Heard) I want to know what really happened to Eddie Nolan.

The shows acting can be spotty at times, some scenes are very well done while others can make me laugh, and not because I'm supposed to. However, I like the casting Taylor Handley does a good job play Johnny, our reluctant hero/detective. Amber Heard is gorgeous and brings a nice flare to the mysterious rich-girl that is Greta Matthews. Also, Matthew Cassidy is hilarious and also very dark as the questionably evil Cliff Wiatt.

I enjoy this show alot and would definitely call myself a fan. If you like shows with mystery and a good looking cast then this show is for you. Hate teen dramas? Stay away.

Burn Notice
Avg Score: 8.93    Total Ratings: 3011    Total Reviews: 91
After seeing the Pilot episode of Burn Notice, I can tell I'm already hooked. The creative plot, mixed with a good supporting cast, topped off with a superb performance from the star Jeffrey Donovan make this show a keeper.

Jeffrey Donovan's portrayal of Mike Westin has added a fresh new face to USA's "Characters Welcome" channel. On a station that houses the quirkest "character" ever in Adrian Monk, Mike Westin will easily win over fans. He is a sarcastic, cocky, tough and suave spy who has been "burned" by the CIA. His credit smashed, his bank accounts frozen, Mike has no choice but to lay low in his hometown of Miami and try to figure out who has burned him.

In order to do this he starts doing small time investigation work to make money while searching for the person who set him up. He teams up with his ex-girlfriend Fiona, played by Gabrielle Anwar. She also happens to be a former bank robber and IRA member. He also employs the help of his only friend Sam, played by Bruce "The Chin" Campbell. Sam is also a burned ex-spy who lives in Miami. The three make for a very fun, light-hearted and skilled investigation team.

This show has only just debuted its first episode but it is oozing with charisma and potential. Its a fresh new and original idea that finally does not involve cops, nurses or lonely horny old women. Anyone that loves a good story, great characters, and plenty of comedy and action will love this show. Burn Notice is this summer's must-see show.

That 70s Finale
Avg Score: 9.03    Total Ratings: 270    Total Reviews: 65
With the dreadful 8th season coming to an end, this episode definitely brightened up things.

The 8th season was pretty lacking. Without Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher, the show didnt really have the same feeling. Randy was a horrible replacement character that just never fit and made fans long for Eric and Kelso even more. The writers did the best they could with the situation. I did like the evolution of Jackie and Fez's relationship.

The finale had good jokes and a great storyline. New Years Eve and the last day of the 70s is the only way this show could have possibly ended. I was very happy to see Michael and Eric come back for this episode, it made it feel like That 70s Show again.

The scene with Eric coming home and talking to Donna was very well done and a great way to wrap up their relationship. I also loved the final scene with everyone in the basement.

Quality writing and laughs = Classic That 70s Show

10.0 Perfect
Tony Shalhoub
Avg Score: 9.58    Total Ratings: 281    Total Reviews: 18
Adrian Monk is by far the most unqiue and complex character on television. It takes a special and talented kind of actor to even consider playing a role like Monk. Tony Shaloub is not only perfect in the role but shows that no one but him could pull it off.

In any episode of Monk, the viewer is treated to a wide range of emotions because of the acting ability of Tony Shaloub. In one scene he will make you laugh, the next he'll make you feel so bad for Monk, and then in another scene he will make you so uncomfortable because of Monk's antics.

It truly is amazing watching Shaloub's weekly performance on Monk and it is no secret why he has won Emmys for his portrayal of Monk. Tony Shaloub is one of the best actors to ever grace a television screen.

Even though his stay on 24 is over, Carlos Bernard has definitely left his impression on the show forever. Carlos portrayed one of the best characters that the show has ever seen, Tony Almeida.

After going back and watching the first season of 24 its hard to believe that his character would ever become so popular. This is definitely because of the talent of Carlos Bernard. He took a character that was pretty basic and somewhat annoying and transformed him into a fan favorite. He literally forced the fans to like Tony.

Carlos is definitely one of the best actors on television today.
