The thing I love about this show is its ability to take real life dilemmas and develop them on screen with a supernatural approach. Xander's fears and anxieties about marriage are not only expected but they're completely justified. Xander is still young and barely entering adulthood, while Anya is an ex demon with a violent past. And aside from being from two completely different worlds, they also have to deal with their dysfunctional families fighting eachother. Xander had reservations about getting married from the start and his glimpse into his future with Anya (although it turned out to be fake) could still very well happen and that completely terrified him. The vision that Xander saw displayed some common fears that most people do have about marriage, like unemployment and domestic disputes.

This episode played on Xander's fears about marriage by showing him a vision of the things he feared the most. And even though he found out the vision was fake, it still terrified him enough to leave Anya at the alter. This episode was well written and executed beautifully. However witnessing a great tv couple like Anya and Xander come to an end was depressing and heartbreaking all at once. Definitely one of my top 3 favorite episodes from season 6.

Future Max (from the year 2014) has the fate of the world in his hands, and it's all about to come to an end. The future Earth is being invaded, taken over, and destroyed, and the only way for Max to stop it is to travel back in time (to the present) and fall out of love with Liz. When he travels back he explains the delimma to Liz. Liz and Max's relationship made Tess jealous, and as a result, she left Roswell, and the royal four lost some of it's power. Because of this, they weren't able to protect the Earth from destruction. So future Max tells Liz that they have to find a way to make him fall out of love with Liz and fall IN love with Tess. After many failed attempts, Liz comes up with a deviant plan to make Max think that she and Kyle had sex together. This crushes Max, and before you know it, he falls out of love with her and begins growing closer to Tess.

This was a remarkable episode. The idea of traveling back in time and changing the past is intriguing in itself. And the off again/on again romance between Max and Liz seems to be on it's way to recovery, until Max is forced to fall out of love with her. It's very bittersweet, as we know these two are destined to be together. Future Max tells Liz of the life they share together in the future. How they become inseperable and get married at 19. But changing the past will prevent any of this from happening, and that's both tragic and pivotal to their relationship.

The Twilight Zone
The Eye of the Beholder
Avg Score: 9.38    Total Ratings: 166    Total Reviews: 8
when this episode starts out we see a woman's face wrapped in bandages. throughout the episode we don't get to see the woman's face, nor do we get to see the faces of the doctors and nurses taking care of her. the woman is undergoing surgery. she is ashamed of her physical appearance and she is hoping the surgery will make her appear "normal" so she can look like everyone else around her. throughout most of the episode, the viewer is under the impression that this woman is hideous and grotesque. but in true TZ form, there is a twist at the end. the woman is actually beautiful and the people around her are deformed. and because she doesn't look like them, she is considered "ugly". but to us, she is stunning. the title says it all. beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.
