My goal for the next year: Get a "proper" gaming set-up.
Between now and this time next year I plan to get an HDTV (Atleast 26") and a proper set of surround sound speakers.
I do currently have some 5.1 speakers however they have a weird input, but that's what I get for getting a cheap £25 set from Argos (they're stlll better than normal speakers and I needed something to use with my monitor as my TV died last year).
Depending how much this costs I may get a PS3 too, we'll see. If you have any suggestions for some good TVs (32" preferbly) then post them here

What I'm looking forward to at E3
With the biggest gaming event of the year just days away now I've decided to write this blog to share with you what I'm looking forward to most this E3.
Microsoft
A lot of things I'm looking forward to from Microsoft this year - these are just some of them.
Gears of War 2. My favourite game so far on the Xbox 360, we know quite a lot about this game already as there's only 4 months to go until release. However I'm sure we'll be given so tasty new information
Guitar Hero: World Tour - What will this game offer that Rock Band doesn't (Or Rock Band 2)? What will the backwards compatability be like? We know it'll work with the old Guitar Hero Controllers, but what about those of us that got Rock Band with all the trimmings? Will we have to buy yet ANOTHER set of instruments?
Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 - With 2008 not doing so well, what will Konami do for us in the next installment? They need to improve the online - they also need to drastically improve their game engine if they're going to keep up with the EA Sports Fifa series.
New 360 bundles/price drops? Rumour has it that there'll be a 60GB HDD released and the 20GB HDD discontinued - hopefully this rumour is true and hopefully we'll find out at E3!
Portable? Will Microsoft be going Portable to compete with the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP? I'm leaning towards no - not for another year or two anyway.
Forza 3? What will we be seeing from Microsofts answer to Gran Turismo, we know it'll come on 2 discs - but for what purpose? We'll hopefully find out in the next week!
Sony
As an owner of neither the PSP or the PS3 it'll be interesting to see what Sony show during this years E3 that'll make me want to get their consoles.
Little Big Planet - this game looks really interesting - it must be due for release soon, right Sony? Guess we'll find out at E3.
Home - Another interesting prospect, I'm 50/50 on the idea, some of it looks good while others not so much. I'll be waiting to see what else this offers - like Little Big Planet this must be near completion!
PSP redesign? - Just a year after the previous redesign was announced could we be having yet another one? Maybe, Maybe not!
Price drop! As a UK gamer I doubt they'll announce anything for Europe, but if the US get a price drop surely us Europeans aren't far behind. Leipzig anyone?
Resistance 2 - Are we going to hear anything about this game? I'm going to say yes - hopefully it's impressive!
Timesplitters 4? - From my local gaming Company Free Radical. Will they be showing off their new game in the Timesplitters series? With Haze being a huge flop - will they make up for it here? I hope so!
GT5 - with GT: Prolouge coming out the other month are we going to see more of the proper game? Perhaps a release date announced? Are we getting damage? (Probably not!)
Nintendo
With Nintendo starting to lose a lot of respect from European gamers due to their long delays of releasing games over here. Can they impress us this E3?
Nintendo DS lite lite - It's been a while since the lite was released so surely we're due another reincarnation of the Nintendo handheld? I've been holding off on getting a DS lite to see what Ninty would announce at E3. Don't let me down!
Metroid Dread? - It's been forever since the last true Metroid game (2003 maybe?) and us "old-skool" Metroid fans don't like waiting for too long! A 2D Metroid game for the DS would do me fine Nintendo, just shove the map on the top screen and let us speedrun and sequence break our way through the game on the touch screen (WITHOUT STYLUS CONTROLS. PLEASE!)
Kid Icarus 2 - It's all but confirmed, will Nintendo officially announce it? Hopefully so!
Wii Price drop? Without having a single price drop since it's Launch in late 2006 will Nintendo drop their console down in price?
Mario's next adventure? - With the Galaxy adventure out of the way where will Mario be heading next? He had a brief stop in Bejing to take part in some running or something. Will we see a New Super Mario Bros. 3 or New Super Mario World? Or just more Mario Sports games? It can't be a Nintendo conference without Mario!
Zelda? - Will we see any more from Link and Zelda? Been a year since the Phantom Hourglass was released and closer to 2 years since Twilight Princess. What has Ganondorf been up to since then? Will we find out on Tuesday? I'm going to say no.
Of course - the best part of E3 is learning about games we don't already know about. Will Nintendo announce a new IP? What about a Pikmin sequel? Will Sony make all our brains explode again this E3 like they did with Echochrome last time round? Will Microsoft's press conference be cut to commericals during a trailer again? Will I ever stop asking questions? We'll find this out at E3! I can't wait.
Also, some other honourable mentions: Spore, RE5, Rock Band 2, Viva pinata 2, Banjo Kazooie, New F1 game (Unlikely) and many more.

Second year of Uni!
After getting my results around a month ago now and finding out I didn't do quite as well as I needed to. I've been sitting around for the last month wondering if I got through to the second year or if I had to do resits. I was literally on the cut-off point, a little below actually and thought I'd have to retake stuff. I guess that's my fault for Guitar Heroing instead of doing coursework
although I am confused by a few of my grades as I'm certain I did a lot better.
Anyway, today I found out that I'm through to the second year without any resits! Over the moon! I'll actually have to try for the next two years as they count towards my degree while the first year didn't (thankfully).
Want to try and average 70% next year (First) and then take a sandwich (work placement) year in the 3rd year before coming back and finishing my degree in the 4th year. I'll be happy with either a 1st or a 2:1, although being able to say I have a 1st in computer Science from nottingham would be nice

Through the Fire and Flames! BEATEN!
I saw that the Top Gun theme was available to download for Free for GH3 this afternoon - so go on and get it. Played through it and decided to try doing The Devil Went Down to Gerogia (Argubly the hardest song in the game, more so than Through the fire and Flames). To see how much I'd improved since getting Rock Band and GH:A last Saturday.
I beat it, meaning all the DLC content (Minus Coldplay pack and companion pack) had been beaten, I was delighted.
Then headed over to the bonus songs - two there I hadn't done. Take This Life and Through the Fire and flames. As my left hand was still hurting after the last song I did Take This Life first - finished it on the second attempt, was easy once I had the strumming down, no idea why I've not been able to beat this song before.
One song stood between me and "completion" of Guitar Hero 3, DragonForce's Through the Fire and Flames. First attempt i fluffed up the intro, not even getting to the first star power. Second time I got half way through the intro - but could feel that I was close to getting through the intro. Next time, I got through the intro - flew through it. Got to 80% of the song and star power still hadn't been used. Then I got the "hard part", Star power activiated, got through the "hard part" onto some nice chords, ONE MISS away from failing the song. Rest of the song is fairly simple and I did it - I had finally beaten through the fire and flames. Only the fourth time I'd gotten past the intro.
Now I just need to go finish 5 staring Expert and hard (Just one song on hard, about 5 on Expert) and then finish playing through Easy and I'll be "done" with this game, other than a few silly achivements.
