Once upon a time, there was a rambling Dee...

Poetry

Since mere sentences cannot describe the epicness of Avatar, I wrote a free form verse about the my favorite cartoon:

As I look out at the dripping rain,
I'll remember all the grief
Of waiting for the fill of life
To bury my sorrows in laughter.

A quarter of a score ago
Two geniuses had a dream, an image,
An epic story, a beautiful fairytale
That'll bring a tear to an eye.

Years have came and past,
And the dream has grown.
As the journey ends, I sit
With a heavy heart and peace of mind.

That will be it. All will be done.
Our story that has become life
Will end happily ever after.
But I tremble with that thought.

We've been through so much
With good and crushing days.
I'm happy things are closing
But I'm not sure how to feel.

Avatar wasn't a TV show,
It was inspiration.
It gave me hope, it gave me wisdom.
How could I forget the deed?

I'm sad to know that
We will soon part our ways,
But I understand life goes on.
And no one is ever really gone.

The sun is set and to close the day
I will leave with this tidbit of info:
I love you all so dearly
And no one shall be forgotten.

I'm not really into poetry, although I'll write it if I'm motivated. It takes even more motivation to get me to rhyme. But I will be working on an even better poem once I see the finale and work on my flow. As you can see, my poem is far from professional.

What is your favorite type of poetry?

The Big Day

Is it just me, or are the forums acting strange?

Anyway, today is a short blog. Just some news: yesterday was North Carolina's and Indiana's primary (which Obama won NC and Clinton won Indiana). The Democratic race really is getting close. Who will win?

Soccer!!

Normally, I'm not good at soccer (football). I prefer lacrosse, or speedball. However, in PE, we have to practice this sport I'm not good at. Which sucks.

Today, we practiced shooting goals. It wasn't actually a goal, but a bunch of blue mats nailed to the wall. My class had to target the lower corners. That's usually a tough skill for those who are in the habit of shooting at the goalie's head. But that is one of the worst ways to shoot a goal.

Anyway, the goalie started to taunt me. It was annoying, but I tried to ignore it. I got the goal. I walked away with an air of "Ownt!" in my stride. I'm a force to be reckoned with!

Well, I probably bored most people away, so anyone who was able to trudge through that essay recieves something special.

Plus, muffins are good.

My Top Ten (cont'd)

This is my top ten moments in Book 2: Earth. I won't make a top ten for Fire although, since the season hasn't ended yet.

Sigh, I miss Avatar.

Anyway, onward with the top ten!

10. When Sokka recites poems in Tales of Ba Sing Se. Who knew he had a way with words?

9. When the gaang found out about the solar eclipse. Things are starting to look up!

8. The moment when Hope was born. It gave everyone, including Aang, so much hope that it almost brought a tear to my eye.

7. The whole episode of Appa's Lost Days. It was nice to finally find out about what Appa went through after being lost from Aang. It made the reuniting so much better.

6. When Aang finally was able to earthbend. He, at that moment, was three-fifths of the way towards being a fully-realised avatar.

5. When Katara started to figure some feelings for Aang. It really strengthened my belief in Kataang (don't argue with me, I consider this a Kataang moment).

4. When we learned more about Zuko. I've always wondered about Ursa. Now, I'm even more anxious about seeing her again. Plus, she could kick Ozai's butt for attacking her son.

3. The moment when Toph finally joined the group. She is a worthy ally and a great friend. (And her sarcastic comments rival Sokka in the lol category).

2. When the gaang took down the drill. It was great to see Aang use everything he has learned so far to take down Azula's plan.

1. The entire battle at the end of The Crossroads of Destiny. It was epic. 'Nuff said.

My Top Ten

A recent forum thread in the Avatar forums has inspired me to make a top ten list of my favorite moments in Book 1: Water. And since I can't be confined to just 10 moments in the whole series, I'll just do the first season.

10.) When Sokka gets slapped in the face after taunting Aang about liking Katara. That was a great moment that makes me laugh at loud.

9.) The Aang vs Zhao fight in The Deserter. Zhao is an idiot for allowing his ships to be burned. Plus the comment about Zhao not being better than Zuko was hilarious.

8.) Katara's fight with Master Paccu (sp?). Three words: You go girl!

7.) The irony of the Maang vs Kataang situation in The Fortune Teller. Both relationships were one-sided at the time. Notice how the crushee ignored the crusher (poor choice of words, I know).

6.) Foamy in The Kyoshi Warriors. 'Nuff said.

5.) When Yue turned into the moon spirit. It was beautiful and sad at the same time. It was also the first real loss in the Avatar world.

4.) When Katara screams at Aang in The Waterbending Scroll."Would you please shut your airhole? Your infinite wisdom gets a little old sometimes. Why don't we just throw the scroll away since you are so naturally gifted?!"

3.) When Katara learns about her healing abilities. Finally, there is some sort of first aid in the group.

2.) When Aang goes into the Avatar State for the first time in the series. It was well done. No other comments necessary.

1.) When Aang goes into the Avatar State at the North Pole. How could anyone not think that was epic?

Some of those scenes make you chuckle while others have you saying "wow." That's the beauty of Avatar. It's balanced between drama, comedy, and action all while being a cartoon. Best show ever. And don't worry, Book 2: Earth will be coming soon.

Rugrats

Rugrats is one of the cuter cartoons I've ever watched. And it really did dive into the minds of mischevious babies.

Chuckie and Susie were my favorite characters becuase they were pretty much the voice of reason. Many people ignored Chuckie because he was too much of a scaredy-cat. But I saw much deeper into that. While he wasn't always realistic, he represented what usually held real babies back from doing things. Susie was great because she canceled out the effects of Angelica.

It sum up, the babies' wacky adventures were too cute for words and I think they should bring the series back.

My Life as a Teenage Robot wasn't a very good show. It wasn't something I would want to rush home to see. It was just there. The series was pretty much something to fill in a timeslot. The jokes were corny and the episodes sometimes made absolutely no sense.

If I was in charge, My Life as a Teenage Robot would have ended a long time ago. The plotlines were unorginal and predictably. I lost interest in the show because I couldn't
a) laugh at it,
b) relate to it, or
c) get into it.

Usually, I'm pretty open-minded about television shows, but this one really does stink. The bad jokes made my cringe in disgust. Sometimes I'd watch it out of pure boredom, but it was like watching paint dry. I don't remember ever truly laughing (or any emotion) for the series. If I were you, I'd steer clear of it.

Desperate Housewives
In Buddy's Eyes
Avg Score: 9.11    Total Ratings: 212    Total Reviews: 19
I found it absolutely hilarious how Gabby tried to get away with parking in a handicapped parking space. How the writers made her seem almost human in the end was absolutely genius. Also, Bree poisoning Katherine was a high point in the episode. The fact that Bree struggles with someone just like her can open a door to many possibilities. And Orson is guilty about Mike! I died laughing at Susan trying to find a solution to the situation of Orson sleepwalking in the nude. Susan is just that type of person to be caught in sticky situations. However, Tom becoming angry about Rick seems out of place. Running out of ideas? I surely hope not. Maybe this is another dangerous twist. We'll find out in next week's show!

I finally recieved what I wanted! Ever since Katherine moved to the neighborhood, I've been wondering about her twisted past. I still wonder, but at least my thirst is partially quenched. I began to think: "Will Desperate Houseives keep me in an eternal cliffhanger?" At least my former thoughts have been discarded. I should have known better than to doubt Desperate Housewives! Anyway, back to the episode. I find it rather sad that Carlos will be blind for the rest of the series, but I just know there will be a twist to that. I even question the sincerity of Gabby when she tells Carlos "I love you." There are many possibilties, so I can't wait for the rest of the season! I also loved that a certain cancer victim turned to Bree for chuch advice. Bree really is power hungry, isn't she?

8.0 Great
One On One
Avg Score: 8.66    Total Ratings: 511    Total Reviews: 45
I'm kind of upset that the show ended that way. It left waaaay too many cliffhangers, such as what happened between D. Mack and Briana. I know it isn't the writers' fault that the series ended, but I still have a slight grudge against how it ended. But that isn't my only grievance.

Flex, Spirit, and Duane are no longer main characters. Flex shifted to the position of third-string character (the landlord appears more than Flex), and Spirit and Duane are no longer there. It seems One on One has traded up what made it a good show for something worse.

I gave the series an eight because I loved the older episodes. They were cute and made me laugh. I loved the delicious drama between Briana and Arnaz. Even when Duane fell into some sticky situations made One on One a golden series. So, an eight is what the show needs.
