    • An oldie but a very goodie

Dear Vidfans- In the constant excitement of shiny new movies being released, and the anticipation of those to be released in the future (Watchmen, 03/06/09, squee!) It is easy to forget that people have been making films for decades, and some of them have been really good. For instance: Browsing the video store, I came across an older film that looked interesting, a black and white flick, Victim. I mentioned it later to my mom, who thought it sounded good until I came to the part about it starring Dirk Bogarde, at which point she seemed to suffer some sort of coronary arrest. Apparently he was something of a crush of hers back when he appeared on a series called Doctor in the House. So it was decided. It is not a choice I regret. Victim is a British film circa 1961,... • Premiere week wednesday: tale of two premieres

Dear Vidfans! I will try to be brief. I did in fact watch the openers for Criminal Minds and CSI:New York. My viewing was somewhat impaired by having a younger brother in the room who would not be quiet during important explanations. In my last post I said I was at a loss to find an alternate explanation for Joe's actions other than his original story i.e a kidnapped family. Apparently,... Read more »

    • Premiere week day two- CSIM feedback, Wednesday lineup, and more

Dear Vidfans- Allow me to illustrate my genius through a little tale about taping shows. Taping shows is a great thing to do; even if you're doing it on an antiquated VCR, like me, there is only a slight sacrifice in terms of picture quality. Meanwhile, you can watch it at your leisure, skip commercials, and instantly replay good parts. You don't even have to watch it tape, you can just go off and help your brother with his history assignment, confident in the knowledge that your show will be quietly taping all the while. That is, if you're careful to make sure it won't run out of tape halfway through the show. Anyone want to guess what I did? Yep. I realized my error after my brother, as we were working on the history assignment, said "Oh, by the way,... Read more »
