MY REVIEWS

  • show: The Simpsons

    episode: Regarding Margie

    The Bottom Line: "Great"

I laughed... its only expected, i mean its the simpsons. But, i think they are milking these episodes and using the same joke just in different contexts. I still love watching the first 7 seasons over and over again but these are just, well, they are lame. The idea behind this episode isn't exactly thrilling and it certainly lacked originality. And what a surprise, beer saved the day. I liked it much better when doughnuts saved the day in Marge vs. The Monorail.

  • show: Around The Horn

    The Bottom Line: "Great"

This show, along with others on ESPN, culminate such illustrious opinions across the nation of our top accredited writers and manage to fit it into 30 minutes every day. Each episode gives us four intelligent sports writers who's opinions do not go unchallenged by others. I love the show, it grows more interesting each week, but yet my all time favorite part was non-sports related. Who can ever forget the cat that fell 8 stories and lived? And then who can ever forget Bill Plaschke's reaction? "That's the arrogance of cats" will live in my mind forever.

  • show: Jim Rome is Burning

    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

Jim Rome adds his two cents, and then some. He never backs off of his terrential down pour upon over rated players or hyped up nobodys. Never does he back off of a chance to put down Kobe, Barry, or any other subject he sees fit to bash or discuss.
The opening of the show is of course the best. Every day we receive a variation of 3 or so "burns" about what Romey is griping about today. And believe me their is no lack of what grinds this sportscasters gears. He usually goes off on some wild tangent that manages to keep my attention wheather it be about Phil Jackson or Bode Miller. If the subject lacks luster, Jim finely tunes it with any word that demeans that athlete's purpose on the other shows.
Jim comes of so strong and influential because it is one guys opinion. Not a pseudo-Algonquin round table of journalists who sometimes fail to do their homework. His burns transcend time and beat anything else on ESPN as of today. The rest of the show drops off from the beginning but it does manage to maintain the interest.
Day to day he has a nice mix of guests from a variety of backgrounds in the sports world. His show trods along and gets stronger each day as he always finds someone to get his dander up. I know one thing, each day i turn on the TV my first thought is, what is Romey burning about today.

  • show: I Love Lucy

    The Bottom Line: "Perfect"

The original Queen of comedy still reigns today superior to any other female in the business (or male for that matter) th most recognizable face in TV history made us laugh even at the saddest of moments. Countless behind the scene troubles didnt stop this show's 7 years becoming instant classic. TV Guide rated it the number 2 sit com of all time, next only to Seinfeld. It ran away with a cast full of lovable characters, but CBS only wanted lucy of those fab four. Desi, Vivian, and William all originally werent wanted by anyone except Lucy who said "cast them". she proved to be right as the crowd quickly made it number one on the charts. never dipping under #5 it's amazing reign has no comparison. Lucille Ball gave us so many episodes and it is sad how as the years go on only those select few are really know. the Golf Game, The Camping Trip and countless other classics are rarely seen anymore but to true Lucy fans we see these as maybe some of the funniest. While Job Switching and Lucy Does a Television Commercial may be widely known, the others are big hits and line for line act outs for true fans who know the shows ptential greatness it always had, and always will.

  • show: Family Guy

    The Bottom Line: "Perfect"

Family Guy was started back in 1999 and hardly impressed viewers. nor was anyone impressed for the next few years, especially FOX. They gave it the ax before it ever blossumed but it got a fan base on cartoon network. the show quickly becaem CN's best show and headlined the Adult Swim lineup. Although many young viewers watch i believe the older generation apreiates it the most mixed with a few of the younger people. It ,makes countless refernces to older shows and movies and mixes it with todays humor and it got a smash hit that arguably became the most controversial and the best of all time. it may just be that the fanbs were right all along as the 4th season is quickly becoming the best season, we have watched our DVDs long enough and its time to give us new material and that they did.
