In My Time of Dying
"Exactly why I watch this series"
Amazing Season Two Premiere.
I have decided that this is my favorite episode of the entire series. This decision probably came around my fourth time watching it. And we're well into season 3 now so it's improbable that I'm going to change my mind. Here are my reasons:

It completely lived up under the pressure of filling in the cliffhanger season 1 finale. Usually with a intense, nail-biting finale, the premiere is kind of disappointing. At least that has been my experience with other shows. It's different than all other episodes. There is no real big bad causing all the problems in this ep. I mean perhaps the yellow-eyed demon indirectly caused the crash. But the thing that puts Dean in danger is time and his own failing health. The final scene between the reaper and Dean. It was written perfectly, the reaper pointing out that Dean will become an angry spirit if he stays almost made me cry. And I never cry.

John giving his life up for Dean. We get to quell the nagging feeling that maybe Sam was the favorite and that maybe John really does think of Dean as tool and not as his son. Pretty sure John would give up his life to save either of his sons in a heartbeat, this ep proved that.

The final scene between Dean, Sam, and John. Completely heartbreaking without being over the top. Overall the episode was written superbly and acted even better. There are so many other reasons this episode is amazing that I can't articulate. It just makes me happy, and sad, and angry, all at once. Pure television gold.

"Filler episode"
Although I called it a filler episode I still rated it high because it was a pretty good filler episode.
Pretty entertaining. Considering I was about to start striking up smallville conversations with random strangers on the street to get my fix I probably would have liked anything. It seemed however, to be a transitional episode. The writers left Gemini on a major cliffhanger and it felt like they did it for a shock factor without thinking about how they would have to finish it in the next ep. Still a good episode, but it felt a little haphazard to me.

Things I liked: Tom Welling playing bizarro. He really stepped it up and it was refreshing to see the dark side of Tom's acting again. I love when he's dosed on red K or posessed by Lionel and stuff like that. I also liked the Clark/Chloe moments when he's trying to convince her that he's the real Clark. So sweet. Thing I didn't like: Lana whining about how Chloe doesn't know him as well as she thinks all while Lana is blinded by the fact that Clark is finally paying attention to her instead of being distracted by that stupid stuff, like, I don't know, saving people. I also didn't like the look on poor Clarkie's face when Lana said she'd been more in love with him the past month when it was Bizarro. It's ok, Clark, it's just Lana.

Lex is giving into his evil side again. Not that we didn't know that would happen. Poor Grant, not easy being a clone.

But now I really need to try to do homework with Smallville swirling around in my head. But I can learn more about life from Smallville than college anyway, right? Like I learned never to trust any character played by James Marsters. Spike, Bizarro, and some random FBI agent on Without a Trace for the past few weeks. I learned that when someone dies they won't neccessarily stay dead. And that guys who are naturally bald do desperate things because they feel like they need to compensate.

These are lessons I can't get in any classroom.

"Exactly why I watch this series"
Lois is told by a mysterious voice over the phone that if she doesn't help him bring down Lex, he'll detonate a bomb that he planted on Chloe.
Wow. Great episode! I totally didn't see any of it coming! And I'm pretty good and predicting twist endings. Two things took me by complete surprise. First, that Grant was a clone. I should have pieced it together, cuz I didn't totally buy that Grant was Lex's brother, but they did a pretty good job of hiding it. What a cool plot twist. And the other was of course that Clark is Bizarro! Geez, I was just sitting on my couch, smiling at the tender Clark and Lana moment and then I was like, "OH MY GOD! Did his face just flash? His face just flashed!" Of course, I was talking to myself cuz I don't know anyone else who likes Smallville. Poor Clarkey. He looks cold. Great Chloe/Jimmy moments this ep. I'm so glad she finally told him that she's meteor infected. Although, come on Jimmy, what made her think that you wouldn't accept her? I dunno, maybe the fact that you trash talk them whenever they come up and call them 'freaks' as often as possible. I mean, really. But it's all good now, they kissed and made up. And everyone at the office party saw them. Hehe.

So, how long before someone notices that Clark isn't Clark? Who knows, but I bet Chloe's the one who figures it out. She's intuitive like that.

It's crappy that we have to wait so long for the next ep. Stupid writer's strike. I mean, I support them and what they're fighting for, but it's messing with my Smallville!

"Character development"
I liked this episode, but hey, I like any episode that features my girl Chloe, cuz she rocks.
Okay, some of the significance of the Martian dude and Kara were lost on me because I haven't read the comics or seen any of the movies, but the episode still delivered an enjoyable hour. I really don't care for Kara. Oh, look, here comes another headstrong, domineering woman to give Clark something else to worry about. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the girl power and strong female leads, it's one of the reasons I love Lois so much, but I don't really see the need for Kara. I take it the she has some place in the comics that I don't know about because I've never read them, so I'll hold off on my judgments for now.

Poor Chloe!! She is not having a good day. First she's been having to deal with being a meteor freak while her boyfriend keeps mumbling about how evil they are. Then when she thinks she finally has a way to get a cure, she learns about the nasty side effects of the memory loss. Then she catches her boyfriend flirting with Kara, even though she only blew him off so she could get herself cured so he wouldn't judge her! Then when she goes to see the doctor, he ties her to a table and tries to cut out her heart while she's still awake. Then, when she goes back to talk to Jimmy without the cure, she chickens out about telling him she's meteor infected and they break up. She definitely deserves a tub of ice cream and a good cry.

I really wish she would just embrace the fact that she's meteor infected. Sure her ability has some scary side effects, but just like Clark's, if she learns to control them she could actually do some good with her powers. Not all of the meteor freaks turn out to be psycho. Even though most of them do, she can be the exception and she'll have Clark to help her through.

Hmm. Ok, I'm done. Looking forward to the next episode.

"Another great installment"
Good Episode.
This one was good but a few things are getting a little repetitive, Dan's brother pushing his nose into things, and the fact the Katie still gets angry at him for leaving, like he has a choice! Although she is getting better. I'm also excited to see what the story is with Livia. Why is she following Dan around in her travels? And why did her travelings stop when she was with him? Is it something about him? I'm looking forward to finding out the answers to these questions and more. I'm intrigued.

Can't wait to see what happens next.
