The Dead Zone Vanguard Avg Score: 8.83 Total Ratings: 97 Total Reviews: 12 |
The fun thing about putting up with the filler episodes of the Dead Zone is that it's always so exciting when we get back to Stillson. And not only that, but we get Danny Masterson and Reverend Purdy as well! This was very interesting from the start, as you could tell from each passing moment that Johnny was getting more and more frustrated with the hunt for Stillson. One thing that I also noticed was that this episode moved about a million miles per hour. There was a very big lack of dramatic pause in this episode, as the writers seemed to cram as much as possible into 40 minutes to get this important storyline out of the way. I knew that the episode wouldn't have a happy ending, though, as it's the only way to set up for the eventual happy ending that I'm expecting towards the end of the season. There was Sarah/Johnny interaction this episode too, which was rather interesting as it's clear that Sarah does not want to know anything about the new baby until she knows it first. Anyway, it looks like we're good to go for the rest of the season on the Stillson train, which I'm sure will lead to a rather climatic finale. Overall, I would've appreciated at least a couple dramatic pauses, but otherwise I have no complaints.

Good episode this week, as the other shoe (almost) drops from last week and Kyle is on the run from the law thanks to her mother. There was plenty of suspense building all around, from Maia's warning that someone was going to get hurt trying to find Jordan's killer, to the NTAC forensic team almost brushing the locker that Kyle used to store his weaponry but getting interrupted just in time for the wrong suspect to be arrested in the case. Not really crazy about the subplot of Liv almost becoming a junkie again, but I'm glad that Shawn and Danny seem to be on good terms again, because I was beginning to be bored seeing friction between the two of them as it usually does not result in exciting storylines. Of course, the surprise ending of Maia knowing that the manhunt isn't over yet is just insane, as is the preview for next week's episode which I can't even begin to decipher. Anyway, good episode this week but next week's looks to be much better.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Ted and Mary Avg Score: 8.52 Total Ratings: 99 Total Reviews: 1 |
Ted Dansen is just unnecessary. The social worker from Mrs. Doubtfire is in this episode, which is awesome and totally made up for Dansen being around. The gag (literally) with the water was rather funny, as it speaks a lot to me since I hang with friends who very rarely concern themselves with such things as protecting ourselves from germs. No diseases yet. Anyway, the stuff with Larry and Mary was very good, but once the episode started revolving around the Paul Simon concert I quickly got bored and found myself watching the clock more often than not. Consider it quite a letdown after the good pilot.

Curb Your Enthusiasm The Pants Tent Avg Score: 8.67 Total Ratings: 120 Total Reviews: 5 |
I've decided to sink my teeth into Curb Your Enthusiasm, starting with the first episode since I really can't get into a TV show unless I join in on the first episode of the entire series (I tried and failed to break this habit with Deadwood). I was never a big fan of Seinfeld, but this immediately connected with me as I have fallen victim to The Pants Tent plenty of times, although fortunately it has only been me who noticed that I was sporting a ghost boner. A pattern that I notice with the episodes is that at 30 minutes, they really cram a lot into the episode and you get plenty of problems and resolutions in a quick amount of time. The Kathy Griffin stuff seemed a little forced and just stank of Larry David owing Kathy a favor or something by putting her in this show. Otherwise, this is a fine pilot episode and sets the pace for what people would be expecting in future episodes.

MythBusters MythBusters Jaws Special Avg Score: 9.14 Total Ratings: 51 Total Reviews: 4 |
Jamie, Adam, and the build team take 'Jaws' head on in this special, tackling five myths and a bonus sixth one that gets resolved rather quickly. They went all out for this special, getting an awesome military vehicle to help duplicate the power of a great white shark and putting Jamie in a considerable amount of danger by sending him to the depths of the sea to fight off sharks. This is what Mythbusters is all about: A scientific approach, mixed with a heavy dose of comedy and, in the end, some nifty explosions. The testing of 'Jaws''s finale was, of course, the best for last, as they kept teasing what the explosion would be like and while the myth was busted, they still managed to blow the foam shark to shreds courtesy of the FBI, which was quite a cameo. Even better, the 'Busters were able to get their myth-testing off the ground quick without the frustrating failures experienced in the Border Slingshot episode. Bottom line: This is a fantastic episode of Mythbusters.
