    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

I believe this was one of the most intense episodes of the season. CJ is attacked, and in the name of politics and nationalism it's swept under the rug. Michael was completely awesome in showing Paolo what he 'really' thought at the end though. CJ and Michael are stronger for it. Roxy and Roland's friendship is tested when he informs his wife that Trevor is an addict. Trevor flies off the handle at Roxy for saying anything, and Roxy in turn flies off the handle at Roland. Roland takes this in stride because well, he was protecting his family. Good for you Roland!!!Finally, Frank is well frank with Denise, saying he has feelings too, and she needs to quit wanting it both ways. If she wants independence, then she needs to take it. Go Frank!! Excellent episode, helping to tie up some of these storylines. I hope the writers get back to fewer storylines per episode though, this season seems to have shown too much individualism, and less comradarie.

    The Bottom Line: "Perfect"

Finally an excellent episode. I have been so tired of the Getti drama!!! I loved the situation with CJ and her parents. I enjoyed the whole role reversal. I also found it refreshing that CJ was so completely oblivious to this, when she usually has her finger on the pulse of everything. I thought the episode also did a terrific job spotlighting Joan and her reluctance to anything fru fru. I thought it was brilliant when she finally got into the spirit of her baby shower with those rediculous earings. I love when Joan is funny. The Roxy/Trevor drug mishap is coming to a close, Trevor is hitting rock bottom. Finally, this has been dragged out enough. I've really thought that this has gone completely against Trevor's nature. He's the kind of guy that would grin and bear it!!! Another storyline brought to a bearable situation is Frank and Denise's relationship. I'm happy to see them arguing their way through this. Excellent writing on this now. I love Pamela's stalker storyline. It's really freaky and amazing, well done on that!!!

    The Bottom Line: "Perfect"

The storylines are kind of getting pretty predictable, drug problems on base, people going over their pay-grade. People not listening to higher-ups in the chain of command and whatnot. Luckily, Joan is working out a plan to get back to work for a bit. The drug plot just wasn't very unique. It was more like a 90210 double episode. Now the bit with Brenda and Pamela ... I can see where that might be an issue on an army base. I'm happy that the writers only grazed over it a bit though. Pamela freaks at another girl kissing her, other girl moves on ... yadda yadda. Poor Roxy ... didn't pass one of her tests, and now has to do the whole thing over. Roland keeps giving Roxy inspiration and support and thus the end of a relatively good episode, it wasn't great ... but better than the last two.

    Quote of the Day:

If my theory of relativity is proven successful, Germany will claim me as a German and France will declare that I am a citizen of the world. Should my theory prove untrue, France will say I am a German and Germany will declare that I am a Jew.

The Blog This! Of The Day:

    The Word Of The Day:

    Praetorian or Pretorian

    PRONUNCIATION:
    (pree-TOR-ee-uhn) adjective

    MEANING:
    Corruptible; fraudulent.

    ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin praetor, an elected magistrate in ancient Rome.

    USAGE:
"If Nigeria is ever going to mature as a free and democratic society, the judiciary, nay, the various sitting tribunals must be ready and willing to demonstrate an unequal boldness as well as courage to curb electoral banditry by praetorian politicians that subverted the April 2007 elections."

    Today's Person Of Interest:

    Ma ( Kate ) Barker Biography ( 1877-1935 )

Alleged criminal. Born Arizona Clark in 1877 in Ash Grove, Missouri. After marrying George E. Barker in 1892, Kate gave birth to four sons, Herman, Lloyd, Arthur and Fred. George left the impoverished family around 1915, during which time the boys began their life in crime. Their mother condoned their crimes, and enjoyed the expensive furniture and clothing the robberies afforded her.

Ma Barker ruled her household with an iron will, forbidding her sons to have girlfriends and allegedly plotting their crimes and helping to form the Barker-Karpis gang. For more than twenty years, Ma Barker and the gang terrorized the Midwest, robbing banks and killing dozens of people. After the other members of the gang were either dead or arrested, Ma Barker and her son Fred were discovered hiding out Florida, where they were killed by police on January 16, 1935.

Though Ma Barker's legend grew after her death, many argue that there was never any evidence that Ma committed any crimes herself, or even planned the crimes her sons went to prison for. Many historians believe it was J. Edgar Hoover who launched the legend of Ma Barker, after the elderly woman was mistakenly killed by FBI agents during the bloody gun battle.

    Poem Of The Day:

    Poppies on the Wheat

ALONG Ancona's hills the shimmering heat,
A tropic tide of air with ebb and flow
Bathes all the fields of wheat until they glow
Like flashing seas of green, which toss and beat
Around the vines. The poppies lithe and fleet
Seem running, fiery torchmen, to and fro
    To mark the shore.

    The farmer does not know
That they are there. He walks with heavy feet,
Counting the bread and wine by autumn's gain,
But I,--I smile to think that days remain
Perhaps to me in which, though bread be sweet
No more, and red wine warm my blood in vain,
I shall be glad remembering how the fleet,
Lithe poppies ran like torchmen with the wheat.

    Recipe of the Day:

    Turkey Mini Meatloaves

    Ingredients
    1 pound 93%-lean ground turkey
    1 medium zucchini, shredded
    1 cup finely chopped onion
1 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
    1/3 cup uncooked whole-wheat couscous
    1 large egg, lightly beaten
    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 cup barbeque sauce (optional)

    Cooking Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Generously spray a nonstick muffin pan with cooking spray.
Gently mix turkey, zucchini, onion, bell pepper, couscous, egg, Worcestershire, mustard, pepper and salt in a large bowl, preferably with your hands, without overworking. Equally divide the mixture among the muffin cups. Spread barbeque sauce on top of each loaf, if using.
Bake until the meatloaves are cooked through or an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center registers 165 degrees F, about 25 minutes. Let the loaves stand in the pan for 5 minutes before serving.
    Yield: 6 servings

My top 5 changes, Pics of Chance and grazing deer

This is going to be a multi-blog, covering several things in one blog. Let's start with my top 5 things to change.

    1. The colours. White background with bright blue, owie on eyes. I get enough migraines & this doesn't help at all.

    2. Show more of my tracked blogs. I want to see about 12 of them, not only a couple.

    3. I want to see how many comments I've got & when there are new ones!

    4. I want to use smileys in my comments like before!!!

    5. The site is very hard to navigate to find things. I don't even know where to write a review on a show anymore. yikes!!!

These are my top 5 grievances, for now. There may be more to come.

Now, the next part of my blog will be some new pics of Chance. These always cheer me up.

    Chance with toy 1

Here is Chance, lying on the couch, sucking on one of her toys.

    Chance with toy 2

Same pic as the 1st....well almost.

    Chance relaxing 1

Here she is relaxing & sunning herself. I thought that this was a kodak moment.

    Chance relaxing 2

Here she is, still relaxing. She really likes to lie in the sunshine.

Last Sunday, Sept 28/08; we were just finishing supper. Marty looked out our dining room window, which looks into our back yard & saw that we had some nice visitors. Me, being me, got my camera & took some pics of them. This is what we saw.

    deer grazing 1

    deer grazing 2

This pic looked so nice, that it's now my pc's desktop. The deer stayed there for quite a bit. We're not sure how long they were there, but they really took nice pics.
