I loved this episode. Finally we got to see why they brought DJE into the cast.

His emotions were clear on his face as he went through happiness, then grief, then anger, and then searching for the truth. His struggle to do his job while attempting to protect the reputation of his friend was interesting - and I'm glad that Annabeth called him on it. I'm also glad that he went for truth instead of simply pushing for the death penalty after he realized that it wasn't warranted, even at the expense of his friendship with Billy. I also liked the last scene with Jimmy and Annabeth. Her line about his being a 'carpetbagger' was really cute.

I really hope that this show continues this plot - and that it returns next season for more episodes, hopefully episodes that have more of David James Elliott in them!

I'm surprised they didn't use the standard 'Munchhausen' lines. But overall, a pretty good ep, imho.
Seems to me that CBS doesn't realize that a lot of DJE's fans are watching the show - and watching for every scene he's in. He's underused on the show, I think, and could be used more. Plus, we need more information on the characters - we're slowly getting bits and pieces of Conlon's background - we need more about the detectives. What did Williams blow a whistle on to earn the enmity of the police? Why did Ray come to Indy with Conlon? What was with his gasping for breath in the season opener when he and Ed were chasing a suspect? I know this is a procedural, but even the L&O shows are starting to reveal bits and pieces about the characters.

I loved it and started watching for David James Elliott as Harmon Rabb, Jr, and it was him and the character ever created that kept me coming back for 10 wonderful years(well, except for the last couple of seasons).

I've never understood why this show was overlooked by those who give out the awards. Was it the fact that it was military based, and unlike MASH, portrayed the US military in a mostly positive light?

Was it that people just couldn't 'get into' a show about the military? I don't know. I know that after 9-11, the ratings soared for a couple of years, probably because JAG was *already* dealing with terrorists and such before it became the 'in thing' in entertainment.

No matter the reason, 10 years isn't anything to sneeze at. And if those in power hadn't been so willing to overlook those of us who are over 45, it would probably *still* be on the air. Of course, since DJE was leaving at the end of Season 10, I wouldn't have been watching anyway.
