cue the Final Fantasy victory music!
Oh yeah, finally made editor for Xyber 9! *does victory dance* Heh, I have a queue now, I just noticed that thingie up there . . . nothing in it yet, but that'll probably change as people start noticing the show. Well, now that I'm editor, I should go edit . . .

Argh!
This is starting to get annoying, I keep giving them the same website link that they accepted earlier, but now they won't accept it for a new episode of Xyber 9. Come on, moderator people, I'm this close to being editor, give me that one last submission so I get the points I need!

whee, level 9!
Heh, that only took a year . . . I really should contribute more often.
But speaking of contributing, I think I might try for editor of Xyber 9: New Dawn. It needs cleaned up badly anyway, and whoever did the summaries before seems to have taken bits and pieces from the ones I wrote on my own site, so I think it's only fair that I take over. I even have a couple of recaps already done, I just wonder if they're too big for the site . . .

It's official . . .
The Get Ed board has been overrun by idiots. I swear, if these were the fans the show was destined to get, I'm GLAD the show is history!
And speaking of the show being history, Disney has played true to form as usual. They cancel something that was actually sorta decent, in favor of yet more mainstream crap. May Yin Yang Yo burn in the fires of hell where it and other pieces of dreck like it belong . . .
There is one bright spot, however. The latest schedule change has brought Xyber 9: New Dawn back into the light of day again. Or rather 10 pm on weekends, but let's not get technical. It's a good show, that didn't get to finish it's run on Fox Kids. Hopefully it gets to do so on Jetix . . . and somehow I have a feeling that there were at least a couple more episodes lurking around than the 14 actually listed in various places around the net. If not, at least I'll still get to see the four that never aired in the US at all . . .

Whoot, Level 8!
*kicks a few manically cackling bugs out of her way* Blah, stupid website bugs, get lost! Oh, where was I? Oh yeah, just hit Level 8, yay me!
And then there's the other thing, something that I sorta fear the consequences of. Yup, went to one of the other Jetix boards to try and round up some more people for the Get Ed forum. Hey, I'm sick of my discussion threads not getting posts in them and of the forum itself losing posts so quickly. It gets on my fricking nerves, when I make a perfectly good post, and then nobody posts in it.
*wanders off, grumbling*

MythBusters Hindenburg Mystery Avg Score: 9.13 Total Ratings: 52 Total Reviews: 5 |
As I said, thermite makes everything better, but the build team needs better myths to do if the producers expect anyone to like them.
First we have Jamie and Adam, doing the Hindenburg myth, and getting to play with that wonderfully volatile substance known as thermite. They even get to play with hydrogen for a little bit too. Things that burn really good and things that explode, what's not to love?
And then we have Tory, Kari and Grant doing the croc myth, which anyone who's watched any amount of the Crocodile Hunter knows IS a myth. You knew the crocs weren't going to be cooperative, and other than the possibilty of one of the build team getting chewed on, this myth was BORING. I found myself hitting the fast forward button to get past them to see what Adam and Jamie were doing.
So yeah, good episode but give the build team more interesting stuff to do!

Get Ed Avg Score: 8.68 Total Ratings: 133 Total Reviews: 12 Users who agree: 3 Users who disagree: 1 |
One thing this show seems to revel in is all the pretty stuff it can throw at you. Slightly cel-shaded characters, flame effects, sparkly particle effects, and even some state of the art liquid effects for good measure. Sci-fi shows can't seem to do without the flashy stuff, and this one delivers in spades.
The characters may seems a little stereotypical, but they all have their own little unique quirks to make them stand out a little more. This is also really early in the show, so they should have more opportunities to develop as it goes on.
One thing about Ed, though: he was created, not born, and that sort of explains how naive he is. Quite possibly he didn't even get to be a little kid and was grown up to teenager level before Ol' Skool thought he was "done". That would explain why he gets confused about things that the other kids take for granted. Knowing this, I think it's an interesting touch. People who aren't familiar with scifi aren't going to get this, though.
The writing, well, that needs a little work. Sure, all the one liners and such are cool and all, but the interaction between characters is lacking something. Also, the pacing needs work. Things happen a little too fast at the moment, we need more downtime at the Dojo or Bedlam's place inbetween all the racing around the city.
So, all in all, its a slightly flawed yet interesting show, that I can't wait to see the rest of.

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Holiday Time Avg Score: 8.88 Total Ratings: 14 Total Reviews: 2 |
Yes, Santa exists in Star Command's corner of the universe, only the way he does things there is a little more high tech. That is, until Zurg swipes the Chrono Disruptor gizmo and goes on a Christmas-trashing rampage.
The writing in this ep is your standard corny Christmas storyline, complete with XR being the skeptical one. But really, who needs a stellar plot when you're looking at some of the best animation in the series? And there's the fight between Buzz and Zurg on Tradeworld with both of them using time displacement devices . . . say what you will about Matrix-styled battles, but this is one of the best and wildest I've ever seen.
So yeah, a Christmas episode that didn't suck, imagine that!

Code Lyoko The Girl of the Dreams Avg Score: 8.92 Total Ratings: 72 Total Reviews: 11 Users who agree: 1 |
This episode was decent, sure, it's just the plot that annoyed me. Why would Jeremie immediately assume that this new girl is Aelita materialized just because she looks sort of like her? Wouldn't he check to see if Xana had done something first? I'm sure those traps give off some indication that they're active in Lyoko, why wouldn't he immediately look for one of those? After what happened with Yumi three episodes earlier, you'd think Jeremie WOULD look for those fireball traps if someone disappears.
Jeremie's loss of his usual intelligence aside, this ep was okay, I guess. The animation, both normal and CG, were good as always, so I guess that's one good thing going for it.

Oh man, there's so many things wrong with this ep I don't know where to begin. First of all, Skeleton King doesn't make an appearance in this ep, and it's always a bad sign when the main villain doesn't show up in an episode.
The writing is horrible, the jokes are lame, and a mutant colon thing does not make for a good bad guy. The animation was pretty bad here too, with lots of characters off model or just plain badly drawn. Not to mention what the food did to the characters was just wrong.
And Teen Titans did a similar storyline to this and did it SO MUCH BETTER! Beast Boy was actually funny in their ep, Otto was just being dumb and annoying in this one.
So yeah, this was the lamest ep of SRMTHFG! ever . . .
