Lich King Beta Thoughts
Cool things about the Wrath of the Lich King beta. 1) Death Knights feel epic. I'm tearing through the Death Knight starting zone. The real test will come when I reach Hellfire Peninsula, however.
2) Mayor Quimby.
3) The starting zone changes. I haven't really heard anyone else remark on this yet but the Death Knight starting zone is very story driven and thus very linear. You usually only have one or two quests at any one time. As you progress though the story of the quest line the makeup of the zone changes to reflect the current state of the story. Really cool. I wonder what would happen if my wife starts a Death Knight when I'm near the end of my quest line. Can we see each other? Do we see the same things around us if we're in the same area? 4) Lots of statistics. The second tab on your achievements window is a list of statistics involving money, kills, quests, etc. Very interesting information to have.

Do Stormtroopers Sometimes Throw Up When They Get Sick?
Umm... yes. Yes they do my son.

Does Darth Vader Sleep?
Yesterday my five-year-old son asked me if Darth Vader sleeps. I said, yes, I do think he sleeps because even though he is more machine than man he is still man and must sleep like the rest of us. However, after further discussion with my son we decided that Darth Vader probably does not use a pillow when he sleeps.

The Push to 70: Week 2
I spent much of the past week and a half pushing Sandmoose (my Blood Elf hunter) to level 59 and then farming Thorium from Un'Goro Crater to get my mining up. I did not want to head into Outland without first making sure my mining was up to level. My other profession is skinning which hit 300 back in my early fifties. Anyway, I finally hit that last Thorium node -- ooze-covered no less -- to push my mining skill up to the magical 300 number.
Then it was 10 minutes of travel, 10 minutes in the auction house, 15 more minutes of travel and I was through the Dark Portal. Ah, entering Hellfire Peninsula is an awesome experience. I've done it once before with my Night Elf warrior but it was just as thrilling the second time around. It seems that so far the Horde quests are very similar to the Alliance quests which is perfectly fine by me. I like familiarity.
I'm about 90% of the way to level 60 at which point two things will happen. I'll get my epic land mount and leveling will get much slower. I'm going to start having to think more strategically about battles too as it seems I'm always fighting multiple mobs at once. Perhaps I should put some points into the survival tree.

According to the summary for this episode, “Ben unwillingly divulges information to Locke about the island, taking him on a journey to various locations including strange monuments and the mysterious Jacob.” Well, very little information was divulged although Ben’s flashbacks were interesting. I don’t recall them visiting any strange monuments unless you count the mass grave at the end a "monument". What we did learn is there is some entity named Jacob who is invisible to some people. Evidently, he can also selectively choose who hears him talk.
We now know Ben wasn’t actually born on the island. Maybe spiritually born but certainly not physically born. I don’t think Locke is going to die. A gunshot wound to the stomach takes a long time to die from. Anyone who has seen Reservoir Dogs knows that. I’m guessing the island will heal him faster than the bullet can kill him although I do think we’ve seen the last of him this season. He probably won’t show up again until well into next season where he’ll show up unexpectedly and completely mess something up.

So after the producers have assured us the island is not purgatory and I’ve long since let go of that theory they have go and throw this at us. The thing is how can everyone be dead when The Other’s and Juliet appear to be real people from the real world. What about the chick who parachuted onto the island and got a stick in the lung. Is she really dead also.
In a way it makes perfect sense. You never hear of a plane crash where half of the passengers survive. I have the feeling the last few episodes aren’t going to give us any real answers either. But instead we’ll see Locke continue to get more and more flaky and weird.

Catch-22 was kind of a so-so episode. I never really bought into the idea that Desmond would let Charlie die. However, the flash-back shot of him taking an arrow in the throat was pretty cool.
What really bothered me about this episode is how the Sawer/Kate story took a 180 degree turn. I thought Sawer was upset with Kate because he thought she only slept with him out of sympathy because was going to die. After that turned out to not be the case Sawer started being rude to Kate. Now all of a sudden he’s walking up to her and saying, “Hey, let’s get it on. Please!”. That just doesn’t seem to fit his character.

When is Ricky Shroeder going to die? We all know it's going to happen before the day is over. And what about Jack's dad? I love how he just disappeared and that's the last we heard of him. Is it any coincidence that that around the anniversary of the US invading Iraq we have an episode where the "president" wants to launch a nuclear attack on a middle eastern nation that had nothing to do with the attacks on the US? Maybe so but probably not.
Both me and my wife think that Morris is the guy inside CTU helping the terrorists. Even though he helped pinpoint the location of the drone pilot I still think Morris is the guy. Remember in an earlier episode something about him not covering certain search vectors when they were trying to find Gredenko? He had a convincing reason at the time but still... my money is on Morris being the mole.

This was a "bridge" episode that get us from one cool thing to another cool thing. Not much really happened unless you consider the big explosion at the end a big thing. I have to say the side story with Morris is kind of annoying. Not as annoying as Kim's side story in Day 2 but annonying nonetheless.
You know, something that's always bothered me about 24 is that CTU seems to be staffed only by young and attractive people. Buchannan is the exception but seriously. The security of our country has been entrusted to pretty kids. I don't feel safer.
