Kyrill - Hope you're all safe
As I already said in my previous comments, my partner got nearly hit by a falling tree on his way back home yesterday, it missed him only by inches. It took both of us quite a while to get over the shock, as you can imagine.
Fortunately the worst is over now and the state of emergency in Berlin has been lifted. I couldn't find anything new about Austria, Switzerland and Poland, but I hope you are all safe too.
To give you an idea how it looked like in Europe yesterday I added some pictures.

Truly useless statistics and a fat cat
I finally leveled up! Level 19, 0.47 %

To all Rome fans: Wasn't this a freaking awesome season opener? I expected much of this episode, in fact, I expect much of the entire season, but this exceeded my expectations by far. Wasn't it just great that they started the episode exactly at the point where the last one had ended? Well, not for Caesar, obviously, but it was nice to see him one last time.
And Mark Antony has still the best lines, right Tessa?
M. Antony: I want no more blood. I want peace and stability. (Sure you do)
-----
M. Antony: Best wait until after the elections though.
Cassius: What elections?
M. Antony: Surely you thought this through.

- On average, 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens every year.

- More people are killed annually by donkeys than die in air crashes.
- The sport that sends the most people to the emergency room every year is ping pong.

And thanks again for all the new 'Nacht'-blinkies, Mary!
Have a great day!

Life isn't easy for men, either...
Isn't this great? We can upload our own icons now! At last! I had a hard time to pick one, as there were so many to choose from that it took me almost half an hour to decide on one.
Oh, and I just noticed that I became editor for a show. I didn't count the CPs all the time, and I thought it would take at least two or three more submissions, so it came a bit as a surprise.

I hope you have a great Friday, and enjoy your weekend!

And here's a special one for da sistas. I'm sure you'll like it.

Last day of Freedom
And I want to thank Mary for the beautiful blinky she sent me a few days ago. Now I have my own "Nacht"-sticker for my blog, how cool is that?.

A side note for all Rome fans: Tessa informed me that the waiting is over, on January 14 Rome will continue with its second season. I love this show, and I'm so glad they didn't cancel it (which wouldn't have surprised me at all, considering that it's one of my favourite series and thus doomed to get the hammer). If you have the chance, give it a try.
And the best news of all (in case you haven't heard it yet): BB finally woke up!

A few stupid (or not so stupid) sayings I came across recently:
- When I'm not in my right mind, my left mind gets pretty crowded.
- You know the speed of light, so what's the speed of dark?
- Evening news is where they begin with 'Good evening', and then proceed to tell you why it isn't.
- There are three sides to any argument: your side, my side and the right side.
- Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
- A giraffe can clean its ears with its 21-inch tongue.
- The earliest maps were made by the Babylonians about 2300 B.C.
- All the planets in our solar system rotate anticlockwise, except Venus. It is the only planet that rotates clockwise.
- The average lead pencil can draw a line that is almost 35 miles long.
- 'Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia' is the fear of long words.
- The names of the three wise monkeys are: Mizaru (See no evil), Mikazaru (Hear no evil), and Mazaru (Say no evil ).

Have a great day!

Thanks for all the good luck wishes!
But let's start my day at the beginning, shall we?
I woke up quite early this morning, but I had some trouble to get up (nothing unusual there).

After my first coffee and a long hot shower, I almost felt human again, and I was ready to start the long journey to my job interview.

I felt a bit uncomfortable in my clothes (cotton trousers and white blouse, mind you, I'm not a business woman!), and I would have preferred to wear my jeans, but I thought that wouldn't be such a good idea.
Apart from feeling overdressed (at least for my standard), I actually was in a good mood.

The train ride was long, but I used the time to listen to some podcasts and to change my desktop wallpaper. I had completely forgotten about the Battlestar Galactica wall, and I figured it would be wise to switch to a more discreet image. (Though I have to admit that I would have loved to see the faces.

I arrived at the company in time (which was kind of a wonder, since I travelled by the Deutsche Bahn), and all the people I met there were friendly and supportive (and wore jeans, thank heaven for that!). The interview took about an hour and went very well. I tried to look very smart and give clever answers to all the questions, and apparently it had worked.

Both the branch manager and the senior developer were very nice, and they said I can start on April 1st.

Hurray, no more

I haven't had the chance to tell my parents yet, but I think we will have a small party this evening.

I will have to learn two more programming languages until April (and there's also my training course), so I think I won't suffer from boredom the next three months. Well, I guess I asked for it.
Thanks again for all the good luck wishes everyone!
I hope my luck will rub off on BB. I just read on Carlos' blog that her pulse rate increased from 53 to 62. All my best wishes that it'll reach the supposed 75-80 soon.
Have a great day!

This episode is about the Brunnen G and Kai's past, and except of a few passages narrated by the Master of Ceremonies, the story is told through songs.
Once, the Brunnen G were famous warriors who saved humankind in the great Insect Wars, which eventually lead to the destruction of their home planet. After the war, they isolated themselves behind an enormous defence shield on another planet, Brunnis 2, and developed the ability to evade ageing and death by altering their bodies. From then on, the Brunnen G "became small, they became dull, they became pathetic. Their bodies did not age, but the life contained in them was decadent and worthless. Their victory over death, was a hollow one."
Thousand years later, the shield begins to weaken. Kai and the other few Newborns, who scorn the "dull" life of the Brunnen G, can see through it, and become aware of His Divine Shadow and his ruthless conquer and enslavement of the universe. Kai tries to warn the other Brunnen G about the danger, but they won't listen to him.
When he seeks out the Time Prophet to get answers about the fate of the Brunnen G, she tells him: "I gaze into the future past, and I see the Brunnen G's doom. But Kai, you'll be the last to die, and there is something else I see. His Shadow's order will be destroyed at the hands of the last Brunnen G."
Once again he warns his people, but they accuse him of treachery and punish him with ageing and death. When they finally learn that Kai was right, the Brunnen G refuse to fight and decide to die. Only the small group of Newborns are willing to follow him into war against His Shadow, though knowing that they won't stand a chance against his vast force:
Kai: "If this should be our final stand, we will stand together with pride. We will honour the past, and fight to the last. It will be a good way to die."
Newborns: "It matters not if the cause is lost, and we cannot stop the tide. We will fight to the end, and then fight again. It will be a good way to die."
At the end, the Master of Ceremonies invites Kai, Xev and Stan to stay, and by thus offering them an opportunity to survive the end of the Light Universe. This is my favourite scene of the entire series, because it is actually Stan who convinces Kai and Xev to leave, and it's probably one of the bravest moments of his life (we are talking about Stan here!):
Stan: "Because two thousand years ago, Kai was right. It's better to die fighting, than to die running. And come on, let's face it, at the centre there's nothing but a coward's death."
Xev: "So where are we going to go?"
Stan: "To fight Mantrid. Why should we just replay what's already happened? Let's rewrite the ending."
Xev: "Yes. Yes, Stanley, we are going to fight Mantrid. The Lexx still is the most powerful single force in the universe."
Stan: "At least it'll be a good way to die."

I also like the Jagaroth a lot, especially the scene where he reveals his true face. This always cracks me up, it looks so silly (in a comical way, that is).
And let’s not forget the hilarious cameo appearance of John Cleese at the end: "Exquisite, absolutely exquisite!"
