Dirt!!!

Ok, this is mostly just because I haven't posted in awhile, but I just thought I'd announce that I have pretty much fallen in love with FX's series Dirt. I tried it before and thought it was horrible just mindless smut. And it can be graphic but not as graphic as the pilot was so I just thought I'd announce that I'm eagerly awaiting season 2, and i have to see the last few episodes of season 1 in repeats on the next couple of Saturday nights...

P.S. Thank God, the strike is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And The Ballots Are In!!!

Well I have chosen my twenty favorite shows of 2007 (10 dramas and 10 comedies) I have split comedies and dramas because I feel it is impossible to compare them

Ryan's Top Ten Comedies of 2007

10. Family Guy (FOX)-Despite ending on a high note in the spring of 2007, the new fall season was seriously lacking in laughs

9. 30 Rock (NBC)-I hated season one, but decided to check out season two and was pleasantly surprised

8. My Boys (TBS)-Original and fun

7. Big Day (ABC)-It really grew on me

6. Samantha Who? (ABC)-A brilliant comeback for Christina Applegate

5. Aliens in America (CW)-Thank god I caught it in reruns after the cancellation of Online Nation

4. The New Adventures of Old Christine AND The Big Band Theory(CBS)-Long live Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her hilarious cast-mates, and this smart and funny new comedy

3. The Class (CBS)-The funniest show that nobody was watching

2. How I Met Your Mother (CBS)-Returned after being on the brink of cancellation, proof that God loves me

1. Pushing Daisies (ABC)-Practically perfect in every way

INTERMISSION: Ryan's Top 3 And Only Favorite Reality Shows of 2007

3. The World Series of Pop Culture (VH1)-I wish it were longer

2. Dancing With The Stars (ABC)-Because Mel B. didn't win

1. Big Brother (CBS)-My guilty pleasure

Ryan's Top 10 Dramas of 2007

10. October Road (ABC)-So soapy and addicting

9. Boston Legal (ABC)-Still love it, but in my opinion some of it is getting ridiculous

8. Dirty Sexy Money (ABC)-Pilot rocked, all subsequent episodes episodes haven't quite measured up, but still good

7. Grey's Anatomy (ABC)-Faltered a bit last year

6. Bones (FOX)- Just plain fun

5. Men in Trees (ABC)-Unfortunately cut short last season, but now its ahead of the game(because the strike cut everything else short) so it was really a blessing in disguise

4. Damages (FX)-Renewed for 2 MORE YEARS!!!

3. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC)-The best drama no one watched

2. Kyle XY (ABC FAMILY)-Second season=amazing

1. The Closer (TNT) AND Burn Notice (USA)-So hard to choose

***And Yes, I Know I Cheated Slightly, Mere Technicalities

This Year's Runners-Up That Deserve Honorable Mentions

Gilmore Girls

May has come once again, and for TV addicts like myself it is a month we both love and dread. In May we rejoice for those shows we love that have been picked up for next season and for those we hated that weren't picked up. And we regret for those we loved that did not make it. Gilmore Girls is known for its loveable characters and story lines. and for its quick comedy and countless pop culture referces, and for two of the best looking and most talented actresses in television history yes I refer to Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. We were told early on that season seven would most likely be the final. And then we were given false hope that there could be a season 8 though it could be without a crucil cast member and making the title singular to "Gilmore Girl" but late this week CW has swung the might axe and cut Gilmore Girls finalizing the series after seven great years. All series must end eventually-we know that but we didn't expect this one to end so soon...goodbye Stars Hollow

I read today that my favorite new drama of the past tv season is basically dead-except for 7 final episodes due to start airing once again at the end of May...

Back in fall 2006 NBC aired two similar series about what happens behind the scenes at network televison comedy skit shows- drama Studio 60 on the Strip, and comedy 30 Rock besides the obvious genre diffence a main difference between the shows is that 30 Rock has been picked up for a second season, this is ironic because 30 Rock sucked. Studio 60 was a masterpiece..30 Rock was a snorefest(It was so unfunny it was amazing) Critics at first hailed the new show saying Aaron Sorkin was a tv genius...and then changed their minds saying that the show went downhill...and when the critic-backing left so did the ratings. In June Studio 60 will come to a close....far to soon and though it wasn't a long run...it was a good run...

FX's new series I to say the least an original....Never before have we seen something like this on TV. Just the premise alone intrigues you from the very beginning...While some new series start out good and quickly fall downhill (Black Donellys, Vanished)if anything The Riches has gotten exponentially better! Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver's characters are the kind of characters you wished lived next door if nothing else just to bring some excitement into your old boring neighborhood. Though I have never cared for FX's series in the past...The Riches is pure delight. Heres to you series creator Dmitry Lipkin! And one more to The Riches for a hopeful second season pickup!

Until next time...

The Class
Avg Score: 8.75    Total Ratings: 1779    Total Reviews: 152
The Class started out a little rough but I kept watching-and boy am I glad that I did It quickly became one of my top 3 favorite comedy shows..and was truely the best new comedy show of the past season. Despite its intensly and uproarously funny cast and story lines (Especially my personal favorite character Kat played by Lizzy Caplan) it appears that the laughs may be cut short prematurely. Thanks to David Spade's new series "Rules of Engagment" Personally I found RoE funny but not near as funny as the class-even though RoE has Patrick Warburton-If The Class fails to make it to a season three it is surely a sad day for televison comedy....

Until next time...

The Closer
Avg Score: 8.96    Total Ratings: 2254    Total Reviews: 106
As the date of the season 3 premiere (June 18) draws closer I feel an overwhelming sense of excitment and anticipation. The Closer is a bit unorthodox from the usual police detective crime drama-Kyra Sedgwick and the entire cast are a complete joy to watch and are some of the most addicting characters on television today, Especially that Lt. Provenza. I think it helps that the ratings baby airs on TNT and not one of the main four networks because the cable network gives it that extra little appeal that is so different from the age old run-of-the-mill series Through 2 shining seasons and a much anticipated 3rd. It is no wonder why The Closer is the top summer cable drama on TV today....
