Big Brother (Australia) Avg Score: 6.90 Total Ratings: 214 Total Reviews: 39 |
What people tend to forget about Big Brother is that, at its core, it is a social experiment. It may be so far commercialised in it's seventh year, but if you can manage to look past that it is a very interesting show psychologically as it accurately reflects the spiteful and vindictive way in which people talk to and about each other, only on a much more concentrated scale.
What draws its viewers is the ability to love and hate the people they put in the House, judging solely by what they show the audience, having never met the housemates themselves.
Despite the view that it is a show only for people with no intellectual substance, it can be highly enjoyable for the analytical types as well.
Welcome back to high school.

7th Heaven Avg Score: 8.20 Total Ratings: 4934 Total Reviews: 678 Users who agree: 1 |
For 11 years 7th Heaven has graced us with its presence each week. I know that most of us will always crave more of what we can't have, and I am among those who hope beyond hope that it will be revived- not unlike Jesus himself- for just one more Season.
I also know that in the end you start thinking about the beginning, and if I had the chance I would travel back to 1996 and do it over and over again. Short of that, we have the DVDs to keeps us occupied so that we don't feel the punch as hard.
It is time to say goodbye (for a second time) to Eric, Annie, Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, Ruthie and all those hundreds of extras as they bow out with the dignity of knowing that they were, at any stage, part of a phenomenon: a family drama, high within its morals, that not only entertains but teaches its audience.
When we see the finale, and hear Roy Orbison's "Anything You Want" playing in the background to send off what has been 11 years of all our lives, I will sit in comfort knowing that 7th Heaven will fall- with Amazing Grace- back into TV history.
Oh, what a ride it has been...

Charmed Avg Score: 8.95 Total Ratings: 12025 Total Reviews: 1396 Users who agree: 1 Users who disagree: 1 |
Ever wanted to see Prue fling someone away just one more time before the credits roll? Or how about Piper freeze one of her many annoyances? Or are premonitions for you? Orbing, Astralling, Levitating, even Exploding perhaps? Well you are not alone. Since Charmed premiered in 1998 it captivated audiences with its combination of magic, mystery, suspense, family issues and romance. There is something for everyone. I often why it did not continue longer than its 2006 expiry date.
I am partial to the first 3 Seasons, or "the Prue years". Prue was the driving force behind the show, and kicked the most butt in her short 3 years of witchcraft. The show became less hard-hitting in her absence, but remained a fantastic-quality and hilarious show, while still managing to incorporating its magical element and suspense.
This will remain MY favorite show forevermore. There has never been, nor will there ever be, a show that quite matches up to the magical concoction that Charmed left us wanting more of each week. You can try, but you will undoubtedly fail to match the show quality brought to our screens by the three sisters that happened to be witches.
