After reading the summary I was thinking - Underworld the TV series, but since it's a british show I decided to give it a chance anyway. Good desision on my part - the pilot is excellent and this show has a great potential. An aristorcatic vampire living with a werewolf that has an IQ of 156 but acts so naively - both trying to lead a normal life against their wild nature. In the background there's other vampires pressuring Mitchell to act more like a vampire, and an old girlfriend of George the werewolf finds out that he's not as dead as she thought he was. Add to that the ghost Annie, which can't or won't leave the house and doesn't know how she died or why she can't move on, and you get sparks.
I can't think of a show that compares with this one, and it's a good thing. The latest 2 vampire shows - Blood Ties and Moonlight - are so similar to each other that one wonders why anybody bothered making 2. Being Human is nothing like them, and worth watching. Hopefully it will live up to the expectations I have of surprising me a bit.

OK - here we go: throughout the show we watched various super-powered freaks doing more or less damage and getting stopped by Jane and the team. Aside from minor tips about how Jane's powers work (but not why), and the fact that she doesn't really approve of what they do at the team, we didn't learn much. Character backrounds we sketchy and the main story of what's the deal with the neuros was not coming alone.
The comes this ep, where we see exactly what happened to Jane in that creepy building, although again no why her. We meet the guys that are supposed to be the bad guys, and then probably we're supposed to think they're not that bad. All of this is done in an extremely boring way, which I wouldn't bother to watch except that this seem to be the most important ep in the series. Jane is doing some investigation, finds out that her boyfriend Bryan is somehow involved, and then goes on to meet the head mad genious on her own (she obiously has some major trust issues). As a result she gets drafted to the mad scientist's side. Kind of a let down - we don't even get to see if she gives a damn about the change of loyalty.
This show has no sense of tension. Things happen one after the other without any logical connection. I remember when I watched the pilot and thought this show has potential to be something along the lines of the 4400 or Heroes. 18 eps into the show I can tell that it has non of the elements that make the other 2 shows fascinating to watch. This show is a flop, and this ep is a prime example to the flop.

As I was watching Jane trying to pass on her expiriences to the same neuro we've met before, I kept thinking "why?". Flashback episodes are usually done to save budget on expensive shows, but one could easily achieve this goal by doing a quiet "at home" episode without cut scenes from previous eps. If one just has to do something like that, it's best if there are enough previous episodes to draw from. In this case, after only 16 episodes, a flashback episode is unnecessary. To combine it all with a dreme sequence, without any indication that it might be some sort of vision or premonition, is just too much. The whole episode is pointless, with nothing contributing to the general plot of the series, with no character development and in short - nothing good.
Avoid at all costs.

Good episode - a nice break before the action of the finalle. The characters of the other psychics were a little under developed, but I guess they saved the time for the battle shots.
The bit with the paintings was a bit odd - if Johnny was able to draw his visions, why didn't he do it before? Well - maybe he didn't have anything to draw on, but still, too convinient imo. The bit with the closed door was a bit off too.
A little note - on the fragment of the bomb Johnny is given to "warm up" we can see the number 74. There is a theory that claims the most powerful number is 47, and that it appears everywhere in various shapes. It appears a lot in Star Trek Next Generation (on purpose). Looks like someone has dragged it here too.

It's interesting to see how Johnny handles himself under stress but this has been done in any other episode too. No new information about his powers. No character development. The choice not to let anybody die is the same as the rest of the series. Talking a guy into giving up his gun has been done in other shows. Nothing special and nothing to elaborate about.
Other than that - for the begining of a show it's ok - getting to know the characters a bit and it's not badly written. Just a little unimaginative.
On the trivia of the episode - Johnny answers when being asked if he's a preacher - I am today. In the show The Pretender it was the line that Jarod says in the opening credits when asked if he's a doctor.
