"I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not"

Yay, another survey

Here's another awesome survey, brought to you this time by rusty005.

1. Have you ever met anyone named Curtis?

No. Unless they were lying when they told me their name, in which case there is a small chance.

2. Have you ever tried to fix your television?

Many times, experiencing both complete success and total (quite spectacular) failure. I'll just say this, if you ever see a kid trying to put a peanut butter and jelly sandwich into a VCR, please grab him/her before they do. DVDs are better anyway.

3. Have you ever eaten anything with a smilely face on it?

Yeah, those puppies are always rather happy. Seriously, I have also had those hash brown things that was referred to in the original blog.

4. Have you ever been lost in the desert?

...I live in New York? Kinda have no desire to go to the desert anyway, not much to do other than playing with undetonated nuclear warheads until you start glowing in the dark.

5. Can you stand on your head?

No.

6. Have you ever been dumb enough to eat a dollar bill?

Again, no. Just...no. I value my money too much anyway. Sort of like a real life Mr Krabs.

7. Has your dog ever bitten you?

I don't have a dog. But the dogs that I've been around usually tend to like me, with the exception of one that nearly made me, shall we say, less of a man.

8. Do you think that you live in a parallel universe and the other side of the mirror is the real world?

You know, I've always thought it was the other way around, but these days, I wouldn't be surprised. So, yes.

9. Ever thought about robbing Wal-Mart?

Not sure how good I would be in a serious robbery, too much stuff to keep track of. Think I'll just stick to pocketing M&Ms.

10. What's the longest time it's taken you to finish a chocolate Easter bunny?

No idea, someone else usually ends up getting to it before me anyway.

Well gang, that sure was fun. Remember, Ronnie's blog was brought to you today by the letter Æ and the number -11.27. Hope to see you again soon.

Song for this blog is Warriors of Time by Black Tide. Really awesome band, if you haven't heard them, check 'em out.

Six Flags - Escape From Reality

Wow, I finally posted a new blog.

The past month or so has been hectic to say the very least. I have been coping with a painful breakup, my usual amount of bullsh!t school responibilities, and tons of other stuff over which I'm sure anyone else would have taken a shower with their best toaster or simply hanged themselves by this point.

With all the crap that I have been dealing with in my life as of late, I seriously needed a little something to take my mind off of everything. So I ask you, how exactly do you get Ronnie's adrenaline pumping full force and actually get a smile on his face for a couple of minutes? Simple, just take him to a park which offers some of the fastest rides in the world, and a completely free lunch.

My day did not start off well. We were an hour late leaving my school because, well, I was surrounded by pinheads once again. Story of my life. But thanks to a noticable lack of traffic through the city and into Jersey, that little delay did not mean much at all. We actually made it there in less than four hours, which gave us sufficient time to do a ton of stuff.

I have not been to Six Flags in a number of years, so obviously, there was a great deal of new stuff that I hadda check out. We started off with Skull Mountain. A kiddy roller coaster compared to the rest of the collection of thrill rides, but definitely a good choice to get warmed up on. I was eventually able to go on that ride three times, the Batman coaster twice, and Superman Ultimate Flight once. Medusa and Kingda Ka were closed in the morning, but we were able to make Medusa later on. Sucks, since I really wanted to go on Kingda Ka, but since we didn't waste time on that two hour line, we were able to squeeze in some other things.

I got to ride some smaller stuff later on such as the runaway train and go karts, but for the most part, me and my friend were far to tired to go on Nitro or anything wild like that. Nevertheless, we really had an awesome day, and it was a great chance to clear my mind. I may have a pounding headache and an inability to walk in a straight line at the moment, but trust me, it was totally worth it.

Hope everything is going well with you guys as well.

Today's song is Ex's and Oh's by Atreyu. Rock on and enjoy.

See ya whenever,

~Ronnie

Fine Charlie, I'll take your really important and completely necessary survey...

Well, hope you're happy, bro. Here goes...

1) Have you ever been in a physical fight? Well, not really. Punched a couple of kids when I was little, but nothing past that.

2) What cell phone service do you have? AT&T / Cingular / whatever the hell it's called now

3) Do you like going out to dances? If it's got a mosh pit and crowd surfing, I'm there

4) Do you have any secret crushes? Can't say. After all, they are secret (in other words, no)

5) Ever been to a funeral before? Yes. One for my grandfather, and one for my goldfish

6) Ever been to a wedding before? No, not even a domestic partnership

7) Are you considered popular at school? Nah, I don't need to follow the crowd to feel good about myself.

8 ) Who was the last person you talked to today? Who made me take this survey?

9) If you had one wish, what would it be? Legalize fireworks in New York

10) What are you looking forward to in 2008? Graduating my "fantastic"high school

11) What do you think about Bush? Ask him that, should be an interesting answer. But I'm a Republican myself and I despise the guy...

12) Name one person who you would like to meet. Gotta be Mike Piazza. #31 forever!

13) Who do you look up to as a hero? Whoever is responsible for the invention of the iPod

14) What can you say about your best friend? Well...he's definitely fun to talk to...

15) Have you ever seen your parents cry? Yes, and it usually involves me in some way

16) When was the last time you cried? Probably last July when my grandmother kicked me out for two hours

17) Do you believe you will find someone special this year? Probably. I like making friends with potato chips, but they always seem to disappear for some reason...

18 ) Do you believe in miracles? I met a girl who actually likes me. If someone can explain that one, then I won't believe.

19) What is your catch phrase? If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Then find someone whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.

20) Who would you tell something that had to be kept private? Ooh, I'd have to say Charlie and Tori. But it kinda depends on what's going on

21) Which five peopleshould take this survey? Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani. Wonder if they'll actually do it.

Wow, there's a half hour gone to hell. But it was kinda worth it, at least I'll be able to look back on it in a couple of months and laugh.

Hope everyone is doing okay, and I hope to talk to you all soon.

Christmas Eve

First off, I'd like to wish everyone here a very merry Christmas, and hope that your Christmas Eve has been just as enjoyable so far.

Quick update on my life. I have recently been accepted to Stony Brook University, and this has really taken a lot of stress off my back (for now at least). The fear of not being accepted anywhere has finally left me, and I can pretty much ride out the rest of my senior year without too much to worry about. But still, I can't believe how much work I am getting in a year that is usually a well-known slack off year. Papers are suddenly a minimum of 5 or 10 pages, tests are getting more and more intense, and to top it off, I still have another pending college application. Listen from experience, senior year in high school is not all it's cracked up to be.

Now, onto the unavoidable subject of...what else...Christmas. I guess you could say that my Christmas started two weeks ago when I saw my dad. Got a few things, mainly gift cards and a watch, and got to see my babybrothers for the first time since August. This past Saturday was also pretty meaningful to me. This is the first Christmas that Tori and I have been together, and we really wanted to make it worthwhile. She got me a Mets shirt and a Thomas and Percy ornament for the tree, and I got her a bracelet with her birthstone, along with her own little ornament and a skull necklace. And give it up for Charlie for sending me the two videos that I needed to complete my collection of Thomasvideos, I'd say that was probably one of the nicest gifts I'vegotten in a while. I really don't know whether this is funny or sad, but I'm 17, andthree different people have given me Thomas related gifts so far. Oh well, some things never change.

I went by my grandparents today for a few hours, mainly so I could get gifts from them and eat like I had two @$$es. It was a little strange, since it was the first time in a good number of years that I did not see my dad on Christmas Eve, but we got through it pretty smoothly. Right now I'm waiting for my second meal of fish in one day, and hoping that I'll be able to save enough room for tomorrow (I'm having duck tomorrow, so...yeah, it's a big deal). And the awesome part is that it's not even remotely cold outside. Feels almost like a spring day. Whoever said that global warming was a bad thing must've beensmoking crack...

But yeah, I hope that you all have an awesome time doing...whatever it is that you do on Christmas, whether it's burning Santa out of the chimney for bringing you coal, or having a game with your friends to see who is the best at peeing their name in the snow. So to all of you, be a rebel, and have a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year.

Your song of the day (why do I call it that anyway? should be "song of the month") is Snow by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hope you enjoy the video, I kinda sorta made it. Oh yeah, and thanks to Charlie and Nimo for their part in making it. Without them, it wouldn't have been possible. So if you see them...I dunno...give them a hug or something.

Oh yeah, and thanks to anyone who has given me any sort of Christmas gift (that would be...Charlie), or anyone who is planning on doing so. I really appreciate it.

So that's about it, see you guys whenever...

Things are boring for Bill and Ben at the quarry, and they long for a surprise. They wind up being sent to do some work on the Main Line, where they run into some trouble while getting the trucks organized, and delay Gordon's evening train. The next day, the twins are back at the quarry, when disaster strikes. A rockslide starts, putting the workmen in grave danger. They all scramble into Bill and Ben's trucks, and the trains leave moments before the quarry is virtually destroyed. The Fat Controller arrives, and regards the twins as "heroes" for their bravery and quick thinking actions.

Yay, I finally had time to write another review! Had to look around to find an episode that I felt like talking about, and since I haven't reviewed "Heroes" yet, it was the one that got the nod. After all, how would I not be able to talk about one of the most action packed episodes that Thomas fans have ever seen?

The old Railway Series books really did not provide all that many storylines for Bill and Ben as far as usage in the TV show was concerned. But the new "made just for TV" storylines were still rather enjoyable back in this era of Thomas. This episode in particular, along with One Good Turn, really did a nice job of displaying that even when Awdry's ideas were not put into use, unforgettable memories can still be made with the characters that he created.

There were a number of aspects that I really enjoyed about this episode. For a start, Bill and Ben were sent to assist operations on the Main Line, something that finally reflected the name of their own Railway Series book. Their personalities were right on target. Fun-loving, young engines who know how to react to sudden emergencies. And to top all this off, the rockslide was one of the most dramatic events ever seen on Thomas up until this point, and it was made even more dramatic by the engines' daring rescues of the quarry workers.

I can remember watching my "James Goes Buzz Buzz" video when I was little, and how I would wait anxiously for this story to come on. I just had to see that friggin' rockslide. I honestly don't know whether it was seeing Bill and Ben prevail in their dramatic rescue effort that pleased me, or just the sight of pure destruction that my sick little mind enjoyed so much at that age. But whatever the case, this was undoubtedly one of my favorite stories from the third series of the show, and one of, if not my favorite Bill and Ben centered episode. Definitely a must-see if you enjoy these two little tank engines.

Oliver Owns Up (Part 2)
Avg Score: 8.89    Total Ratings: 19    Total Reviews: 5
Oliver is very grateful that Douglas saved him from scrap, and is starting to get used to life on the Fat Controller's Railway. The other engines respect him deeply, and Oliver begins to think that that he can do everything his way. Things finally come to a peak when Oliver is working with the trucks. He disrespects them, and the trucks soon get their chance for revenge. They surge towards Oliver, and wind up pushing him into a turntable well. He is soon sent away for repairs, and returns to Sodor after a couple of weeks with a much greater respect for the trucks.

Oliver did not exactly live up to his "Great" Western status here, did he? Nevertheless, his huge ego and carefree way of doing things was something that this show needed for a long time before he was actually introduced to the series. "Oliver Owns Up" was really the start of great things for this wonderful character, and had a great story to boot.

Oliver's introduction to the series in the previous episode may have been one of the best ever, but this was the story that really began to show us what Oliver is actually all about. We learn that while he is a rather respectable engine, he still has a lot to learn about the operations of the island, particularly dealing with the trucks. All engines must find their way around one way or another, but Oliver seemed to get a pretty brutal induction to Sodor life.

The third season of Thomas the Tank Engine might have been hastily labeled as a time where the television series was straying away from the ideas shown in the many volumes of the Railway Series by many fans of the show, but this story really did a brilliant job of showing the story just as it appeared in the books. The cast of characters, as well as those characters' feelings towards Oliver could not have been more spot on than what was presented to us in the television version of the story. The engines seem to have a great admiration for Oliver, and he ends up failing them miserably. Can't get more perfect than that.

In my opinion, Oliver's personality is one of the best preserved in the show, and it all stems from this particular story. I really enjoyed the storyline of this episode, but I think the fact that it marks Oliver's true beginning is really the most important thing to take note of here. The bottom line is that it had a really great storyline with an even greater importance to the future of the show, at least until the seventh series.

One day, Percy tells Thomas and Toby a story about a "ghost" engine that roams the island on the anniversary of its fatal accident. Thomas is rather skeptical, and Percy's driver later explains to him that the story was not actually true. But later on, Percy has a mishap with a cart of lime, and winds up being covered in white powder. Percy, cheeky as usual, seizes the opportunity to frighten his non-believing friend. He sneaks up behind the shed, and Thomas, who did not heed Toby's warning, gets scared out of his mind! He is still pretty freaked out the next morning, and Percy is able to have a good laugh with Toby.

Episodes with a spooky, scary, or just plain frightening storyline have been somewhat of a tradition in the television series of Thomas the Tank Engine for quite a long time. However, this was the first such story to be featured in the series. And it simply could not have been presented in a better fashion than this.

Back in the Railway Series, these "horror" stories were not as prevalent as they are in the television series. In fact, the only one that is really worth mentioning was actually the story on which this episode was based. Still, this was pretty much the groundbreaking episode for future installments with a similar theme such as Thomas, Percy, and the Dragon or many of the stories that were seen in the fifth and sixth seasons of the show.

As far as the episode itself was concerned, I think that it was one of the best interpretations of a Railway Series story that the show would ever see. The series of events was pretty feasible in comparison to real life, and the characters that were featured retained the same personalities they possessed in the books. This story also fit in quite well in the second season, as the focus was clearly geared towards life on the branch lines of the island.

In my opinion, this was really a pretty nice way to begin the conclusion of the second season, as this was the first story from Reverend Awdry's final book. And it is very easy to see why it is often regarded as a highly classic installment among devoted fans of Thomas the Tank Engine. If you want hardcore evidence that this episode had a major impact on the series, just look at the long list of scary episodes that followed it in the later seasons of the show.

Thomas has been ill, and the Fat Controller decides to send him to the works. In the meantime, Duck takes control of Thomas' duties while he is away. When Thomas eventually returns, his hand brake is still rather faulty. As a result, some minor mishaps occur. But one day, his Fireman is ill, and forgets to remind the relief man about the brake. Thomas winds up moving without a crew, and is soon running full steam down the line! Harold is soon notified, and eventually catches up with Thomas, allowing an inspector to stop Thomas. They all agree that they must never let something like this happen again.

This was without a doubt a memorable episode for all Thomas fans who lived through this era of the show. An exciting chase, and use of a relatively new character made for quite an interesting storyline. But in spite of the fact that this episode had its special moments, there were still some drawbacks that should be addressed.

First of all, this episode was a typical season two story. The focus was on the branch lines, and the engines who run it. But one aspect that separates this episode from most of the rest of the season is that it was written by Christopher Awdry. And while we all know that Wilbert's works were nothing to be competed with, Christopher's did tend to be a bit dull. And that did show a bit in this episode. I think the most obvious flaw was the fact that there was almost no dialogue in the entire episode. In fact, Thomas (who was the main character) only said two or three lines himself! I think the better option would have been to modify the storyline before producing the episode to add a bit more spice to it.

All that aside, not everything about this story was bad. First off, it was certainly nice to see Harold have an important role shortly after being introduced to the series. And the same can also be said for Duck, who was also a season two inductee. But the best thing about this episode, in my opinion, was the music score. Other than Edward's theme tune, I greatly enjoyed the remix of Duck's tune, as well as the full version of Harold's.

In spite of how I currently feel about this episode, it is one that has always held my attention rather well. I remember watching this episode quite often as a child, and being thrilled every time that Thomas began to roll down the line. In the end, I would definitely say that it was one of my favorite episodes of the second season.

Thomas In Trouble (Part 2)
Avg Score: 8.59    Total Ratings: 18    Total Reviews: 4
Thomas works a line that runs to a quarry at the end of his branch line. He is always very careful, and makes sure he whistles to warn others. But one day, a new police officer is on duty near his line. Thomas stops to say hello, and ends up with a citation for running on a public road without cowcatchers or sideplates. The Fat Controller is very annoyed, but suddenly has an idea. He brings Toby, the tram engine from the previous story, to his railway. Toby winds up frightening the police officer, and he and Thomas have been firm friends ever since.

Now, we all know that Thomas has gotten into some mischeif in the past, but this one simply takes the cake! Come on, how often do you get to see an engine get into such a hilarious altercation with an officer of the law? This was a very creative idea, and it proved to be one of the most popular episodes in the debut season of Thomas the Tank Engine.

The portrayal of a couple key characters in this episode was more than satisfactory, in my opinion. While there were really only two of them featured, this story resulted in a very important event in terms of friendships between engines. Thomas is his old cheeky self, which really makes for an interesting run-in with the police officer. And of course, Toby is very thankful that the Fat Controller has allowed him to come live on his railway. All this leads up to Thomas and Toby becoming fast friends, and this friendship still exists on the show to this day.

Another element that makes this story so special is the type of storyline that was used. Not only did it bear a close resemblence to the Railway Series, but this was the only time ever in the television series when two seperate episodes overlapped their storylines. In the previous episode, we are left wondering what will happen to Toby, and in this one, we get our answer. This is the perfect way to do a two-parter, and honestly, it is one of the best in the series.

I, like many other fans of this amazing show, thoroughly enjoyed this episode. A couple of my own highlights include The Fat Controller explaining to his wife that Thomas was in trouble with the police (come on, you know that sounded funny!), and the formation of the friendship between Thomas and Toby. Add everything together, and you have a classic Thomas the Tank Engine story that is sure to satisfy Thomas fans of all ages.

Hi I'm RRJS3, but you can just call me Ronnie (everyone else does). I live in New York, and I am currently seventeen years old. I am a big fan of shows like South Park and Family Guy, but my favorite show has always been Thomas the Tank Engine. I'm proud of everything I contribute to the world of Thomas, and plan to keep going for quite a while. You can usually find me around here, Sodor Island Forums, and some of the smaller sites that I belong to. If you want to be friends, don't hesitate to ask. I'm a nice guy once you get to know me. And one more thing. The one thing I can't stand are people who don't know how to use forums properly, especially those who have been around for a considerable period of time.
