W00t Cubed

Just dipped my little toe over the 2000 contribution mark and got my very own little Kill Bill 'Master of Contributions' merit badge. Very shiny.

Of course the next landmark is 5K contributions, so that might take a while

W00t again!

Thanks to my forced march through the first six seasons of CSI (and all the revisions and submissions that went along with it), I have now grabbed another nifty little award square, this one for having one of the top 500 point scores in the community. *does a little dance*

And I've still got several episodes in season 6, and all of seasons 7 and 8 to go!

Plus I'm rapidly approaching the 2000 submission mark. Good times.

7 Words to Strike Fear Into the Heart of the Average TV.com Member

"ALERT: You Have Just Become an Editor"

Panic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, so I'm the new editor of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip". I'm guessing that this happened because the previous editor retired. I reached this brilliant and insightful deduction by going to the show page and seeing two retired editors ahead of me. OK, yeah, I had the 3rd highest points. Barely. The 4th highest had only 10 points fewer. Right now I'm thanking the Gods that this isn't a currently airing show, and only ran for one season. *whew*

But still, I would have liked to ease into this a bit, maybe had a run at being a "Trusted User" on some show for a while, get my feet wet, not be thrown into the deep end with no warning. *sigh*

OK, here goes nothin'...

It's all about the ladies...

So, I got off my ass and made a profile banner. Started out with 7 pictures, decided to do it properly, ended up with 21 of my favorite television ladies.

Of course it didn't end there. I was so damn proud of myself, they were all arranged nicely, well spaced, with gaps covered and attributes... uncovered. I go to upload it and what have I forgotten? That frelling tag bar. It's now obscuring the faces of 7 of these lovely ladies. Thankfully I'd saved the PSD file and just had to do a little nudging. Also gave me an opportunity to match the background color with the TV.com gradient, so it wasn't all bad.

So there it is. And like I said... it's all about the ladies.

W00t!

I was checking what my new profession was now that I'm level 20 (More Cowbell!! Neat), and I noticed a new award square. I was pretty sure I hadn't reached 1000 contributions yet, so I was curious. Scroll over it and I find out it's "This user has one of the top 1,000 point scores in the community."

Sweet!

A sad episode from start to finish. Jeez, but they just took the point of "hey it's 20 years later, Sheridan's dying, everything's over" and just kept poking it and poking it. It was a bit cruel actually. You need a little break from time to time. One scene, something, but no, this episode was relentless. I was sobbing like a baby for most of it. *sigh* OK, I love the fact they brought Ivanova back. They had to. It would have been weird if they didn't. I always thought it was one of the flaws of Charmed that they couldn't get Shannen Doherty to do a cameo. It kinda broke the 4th wall of the show. The characters loved and missed their sister, she was referred to onscreen several times after she was gone, but the actresses couldn't stand each other, she was never brought back, and the story on screen suffered. I know that they cheated a bit, since this episode was filmed at the end of season 4 when Claudia Christian was around, but they could have refilmed it when she left, and they didn't, which I'm grateful for. And I love the concept of Emperor Vir. He's got power, he gets the perks (women) thereof, but you still see that he hasn't changed much from who he was. And I love that when they decommissioned Babylon 5 he gave his little wave before leaving. I liked the CGI of all the ships lined up outside at the end, and wow, the explosion of the station was incredible. Another sharp jab to the soft emotional spot, but still very cool and appropriate, along with the music that went along with it. Fantastic.

I get it, objects in motion, objects at rest. Clever. OK, so as soon as Lennier showed up I knew something was going to go wrong. I'm at least glad he didn't do anything to actively cause a problem, but given the opportunity he didn't help Sheridan. Granted, he changed his mind, but still. Can't say I got too worked up about it though. I like Sheridan and Delenn, and they've had some great lines, but that aspect of the show never really drew me in, and the Minbari were always the least interesting alien race, so I feel a bit 'meh' over the whole thing. And the whole old guard/new generation thing when they looked back at Babylon 5 was kinda cute, although to me it was a bit more like "ok, all the people you cared about are scattered around doing their thing, and all the people you don't give a crap about are staying." I liked that Londo showed up on Minbar, and knowing that the parasite can be put out of commission with liquor I was ticked that Minbar is a dry planet. I felt bad for him. I wonder exactly what Delenn sensed at the dinner table, and what happened with the gift he left for their son.

G'Kar becomes a religious idol. I sorta saw that coming after they published his book. And Garibaldi's drinking is finally revealed to all. I love that he has the same reaction I do, preferring someone yelling and angry as opposed to someone quietly telling you they're disappointed in you. Ugh. My mom did that to me all the time. There were some good scenes between Garibaldi and Lochley. And it turns out Lyta's got a scary amount of power. And I was wrong about her turning into a b*tch She's not a b*tch she's a friggin' psycho. Although I suppose if I'd been pissed on by the universe as much as Lyta as been, and turned into the equivalent of a telepathic nuclear warhead, I'd be a bit cranky too. Still... damn.

The Mars rebellion chick shows up again, an assassin is sent to kill Garibaldi and Lise, and G'Kar's little cult of personality starts to get out of hand. I figured it was only a matter of time before some zealot showed up. I don't like the way Lyta is treating Garibaldi, but I'm glad things seem to be working out for him. He's married, protected via blackmail from the corporation who wanted him dead, and off to live happily ever after. G'Kar and Lyta also take off. Seems like they're wrapping things up in a bow for the end of the series. Sheridan and Delenn and leaving soon as well, and Dr. Franklin has that new job waiting for him. I don't think anyone else from the original group will be around except Zack. I did like G'Kar's speech, and how it sort of doubled as a speech about the show as well, how the characters and stories will always be here as long as people watch.

The Fall of Centauri Prime (2)
Avg Score: 9.46    Total Ratings: 67    Total Reviews: 3
Doom! Gods, what a depressing episode. Great stuff for Peter Jurasik, and damn does he pull it off. Finding out about the Drakh and the parasites (gross), realizing that the Drakh have the planet hostage and how he has to sacrifice himself to save his people. And the stuff with Londo and G'Kar; saving G'Kar from the cell, saying goodbye and cryptically explaining/apologizing in advance for what the parasite will make him do in the future, his line about the trade-off between power and choices, protecting Vir from what was going on, and getting him off planet... the whole episode was just a slow crushing march towards an end of despair. The whole time I was thinking "Poor Londo", and they just nailed it home with that little montage where they show clips of him from the previous seasons, how he went from drunk and happy and a bit harmless and descended into his alliance with the Shadows, bounced back up, but he stills ends up here. *sigh* Also, Lennier finally reveals his feelings to Delenn, but they avoided that nicely at the end. That whole storyline felt a bit tacked on, but I suppose you had to have something going on besides the stuff on Centauri Prime.

About Me

Revolos55
I'm a film and TV buff, moderately in despair over the content of current television. The few gems of hope that keep me going are Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, and Doctor Who. Most of my favorite shows end up prematurely canceled, so I hope I'm not the kiss of death for these as well. I'm a huge sci-fi fan. Farscape is my most favorite show of all time, and I've been a Jim Henson fan since I was born.
Favorite Shows Include: 3-2-1 Contact, The 4400, 7 Days, ALF, Alias
