Avatar: The Last Airbender The Beach Avg Score: 8.87 Total Ratings: 507 Total Reviews: 123 |
I was going to say that this episode was most defined by the character development that it had provided for Azula, Mai, Ty Lee and Zuko. However, I've come to realize that this episode was actually defined by one thing: cleavage. That's all that people seem to talk about in the various episode discussion topics that I've read, but instead of running around and telling these people that they need to get their mind out of the gutters, I'm just going to give in and recommend this episode for the boobies. That's really the only thing people seem to care about, but hey, there's actually some character development on the side of those boobies, or in-between them. This episode shed some new light on the four fiends, revealing their personal stories and bits of their history, which helped explain why they are the way that they are. I particularly liked hearing what Zuko had to say, as even though we all knew what he was going to say, it's refreshing to have him step forth and actually admit it. This episode also marked the true introduction of Combustion Man, who was a great villain for Aang and I really liked the scenes that involved him. All in all, I give this episode my highest recommendation and I hope that people will take the time to watch it; however, when you finally pry your eyes off of Ty Lee, be sure to remind yourself that she's barely a teenager.

Yin Yang Yo! The Pecking Order/Party Favors Avg Score: 9.52 Total Ratings: 10 Total Reviews: 4 Users who disagree: 1 |
The Pecking Order was a fantastic episode of Yin Yang Yo! that I had really enjoyed. This episode was awesome; it picked up right where the first season had ended and it did a remarkable job at establishing the overall plot for the second season. I loved the way that the characters were portrayed, especially Yin; she is downright adorable and I really enjoyed seeing her behave in the manner that she did. I also felt that Coop was handled in a rather enjoyable fashion, and if I may speculate, I believe that he will become the new Night Master. This could be proven wrong, of course, but this episode really seemed to be moving in that direction. At any rate, this episode wasn't without flaws; I felt that the brief musical number wasn't necessary and I was unhappy to see it, though it did permit a hilarious scene to take place when it came to an end. All in all, this was one of my favorite episodes in the series and I give it my highest recommendation; if you plan on watching any other episodes in the second season, you really need to watch this one, as it reveals a lot of information.
Party Favors was also a fantastic episode, though I felt that it was a bit weaker than the other one. However, it did further the overall plot of the second season, which was an impressive feat if you consider the fact that it was merely the second episode. It also had some great humor as well; I really enjoyed the way that the three henchmen were handled and it was nice seeing them obtain some character development. I particularly loved Saranoia's henchman, as he was hilarious and I liked the fact that he gained an opportunistic victory. I don't wish to spoil anything for those who haven't seen this episode, but I believe that he will be a formidable villain for Yin and Yang sometime down the road. This episode also ended in a fashion that will likely have some influence in later episodes of the second season, though only time will tell. All in all, this was a great episode and I give it my recommendation; this series continues to prove why I love it so much, and I hope that later episodes are as entertaining as these two were.

Yin Yang Yo! Night Fall Avg Score: 9.68 Total Ratings: 8 Total Reviews: 2 Users who agree: 1 |
Night Fall was the season finale of Yin Yang Yo!, which meant that it was the culmination of all of the events that had taken place through the course of the season. Many of the show's critics had completely dismissed the continuity that the show had, as they felt that nothing mattered, but this episode had proven that many seemingly trivial episodes earlier in the season were actually of huge importance. That reason alone made me love this episode, as it was a reward to fans who cared enough to pay attention, but this episode itself was one of the best in the entire season. There were many great jokes in this episode, but I particularly loved the character development that took place; the three titular characters were handled perfectly, and some side characters even had awesome roles as well. All in all, this was one of the better episodes of the series, and with the second season having debuted recently, I hope that people will watch this episode next time they get the chance. They might not be able to understand everything, especially if they haven't seen the earlier episodes, but this episode should be watched if you plan on watching the second season.

Yin Yang Yo! Who Knows What Evil Lurks Avg Score: 9.49 Total Ratings: 8 Total Reviews: 2 Users who agree: 1 |
Who Knows What Evil Lurks was a spectacular episode of Yin Yang Yo! that was rather important, as it helped build upon the overall story arc which played out in the season finale. Due to such, this episode had a stronger plot than most other episodes of this series; this episode was also a full twenty-two minutes long, which permitted its plot to be carried out without being rushed. However, what I liked most about the plot was how it required character development; we learned a lot more about Yin and Yang, and we got to see some of their inner thoughts about events that had taken place in previous episodes, which really permitted us to better understand why they act the way that they do. The only downside may have been the ending, as even though it was sentimental and actually made sense, I felt that the events that took place should have been taken just a bit more seriously. Regardless, this is one of my favorite episodes of Yin Yang Yo! and I hope that people will check it out, especially if they plan to watch the season finale.

Yin Yang Yo! Shadows and Light/ The Truth Hurts Avg Score: 9.40 Total Ratings: 7 Total Reviews: 2 |
Shadows And Light was an excellent episode of Yin Yang Yo! that really helped set the stage for the season finale. The events that took place in this episode pushed the overall story arc further, which is why people need to watch this episode if they plan on watching the season finale. However, this episode also had many other great things going for it; I thought that Herman had an entertaining role, even though I don't believe he's as interesting as his brother, and I liked seeing him and his ant army attack the dojo. I also liked seeing Yin and Yang celebrate over having been given a minor promotion; the two of them are merely children, after all, and I like episodes where they get to pat themselves on the back. The fight scenes were pretty good as well, as I liked how Yin and Yang actually got hurt in this episode. All in all, I give this episode my recommendation and I encourage people to check it out; it wasn't the best episode in the series, but it was rather important.
The Truth Hurts was also an important episode of the series, though its importance wouldn't be noticed until the season finale. That is one of the things that I have loved about Yin Yang Yo!, as even seemingly trivial details could be of tremendous importance down the road. Regardless, the reason I loved this episode was due to Yin; I felt that she had some great character development in this episode, as she had to struggle between her desires and her loyalties. You'll have to watch this episode to see just what I'm talking about, but episodes like this help prove that she isn't perfect and it helps humanize her, which is essential in ensuring that the titular characters remain likable. I also felt that Saranoia had a great role in this episode; she may be sexist, but such is the point of her character and I believe that it permits some brilliant scenes to take place. She may have had a creepy plan with Yin, but I respect her as a villain and I hope that she has some more episodes in this upcoming season. All in all, this was my favorite of the two episodes; I give it my highest recommendation and I hope that people will take the time to check it out.
