Life These Days (a.k.a. Gone)

Oh, life these days... I have been so busy and even at points forgotten about TV.com, I'm sorry to say. But one must wonder if this is a sign of growth or maybe it falls under the general category of moving on...? Just because I may have outgrown this website does not mean that it has outgrown me. Nor does it mean that I wish I hadn't been on more lately. TV still is one of the greatest passions of my life and I hope it will continue to be.

With all that being said, I will say that I have finished my first year in college! I wonder what is in store for my second year? And with that I must also say I have lost two of my guides. Well three if you consider how one was stolen from me, but that's OK because I stole a guide from someone and now that's gone, lol... Oh, wait. Looking back, this takes me to my TV Tome days when that one guide that was stolen from me and then I lost it because I was a bad editor was originally mine. The world just works in funny circles, but JetixMasterDan is going to do a wonderful job with Dragon Ball Z because he already was when he was editor. Anyway, I'm really sad about losing Tsubasa, but I am willing to own up to it because it is all my fault. But you know, my loss is a gift to someone else.

My point is that I'm still around, even if it isn't all that much. I'm sorry and I really miss my friends on here and wish you all the best.\

PS: This wasn't a goodbye at all. I'm having a boring summer, so will be checking out the boards again, lol...

And NOW (a.k.a. I'm addicted to Musicals.)

Everyone!! How have y'all been? I have been so super busy lately - I have an actual job and I'm going to a rather prestigeous college in the fall (but I already did a month-long summer program that where I was basically like on lockdown). However, I have not given up on TV or anime, not even this website. I have put so many hours into my guides, I must continue, no matter how busy I get. I love TV so much and I'm so addicted that my plan for college is to get a BA in English, specifficaly for creative writing (because I want to be some sort of fiction writer if I don't write screenplays and what not) with a possible double major in film. Film is my number one minor otherwise. I plan on getting a master's in Film.

Currently, I'm watching/reading Naruto, only the official uncut VIZ stuff though. I'm not caught up with the episodes in Japan or the United States and I don't read the scanlations. I've been religiously watching Bleach on [adult swim], and reading the scanlations, however I don't watch the fansubs. I have been playing Pokemon Pearl on my DS while play various games on the Wii. Managing all this with a healthy social/family life and work - and soon schoolwork - has gotten pretty tough.

With all that being said, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still alive and I still check the basics of TV.com even if I'm not frequenting the message boards. Regarding the second title, my newest best friend is a "Musical Theater Master" so I've been addicted to musicals. I've seen Wicked in the theater three times already (I plan to see it more soon) and I just went to see Hairspray in the theater, I wish I could see that on Broadway right now - Ashley Parker Angel is Link, LOL! (I watched the whole first season of Making the Band, pop was cool back in the day.) I still HEART CLAMP.

The Guides and Aeon Flux!! (a.k.a. A Problem?)

FIRST: Anyone notice that I'm still going with my double-titled blogs theme??
Anyway, there's so much to do, but I have nothing to do, LOL! I'm trying to work on my guides, but there's so much to take care of and then I get discouraged. Then I try to feel confident and get distracted... I probably have ADD or I just get bored really easily.
So, I'm working on my Dragon Ball Z (Uncut) guide right now, especially with those new releases. I'm having a problem... some may already know about it. Look in the forums for that show and you'll understand. I PM'ed the editor of the main Dragonball Z show, but I haven't heard back yet! Argh! I'm also working on my other FUNimation show Tsubasa because that's new! Sorta... my problem with that is that the DVD doesn't make any sense. The credits, I mean. Actors are credited even when they weren't in the episode while others who were aren't! I'm so confused. Also, at least two of my shows are in the top 100 animation. Yay!
Also, Aeon Flux!! I'm the editor... how and when did that happen? Weird...

Grindhouse is the best movie!!! (a.k.a. Happy Easter?)

Okay, I just saw Grindhouse with my stepdad. It was kind of awkward because there are some naughty parts. But I have to say: It was pretty frickin' awesome! I want it on DVD so badly. Death Proof was especially good. Planet Terror just wasn't as good in comparisson. However, looking back, it was great

Also, happy Easter? And look at my last blog because it still applies.

MONDAY NIGHT: I'm going to be on LINGO!! (a.k.a. "Believe it!")

That's right!! It's pretty exciting. I am a part of the "Win with Words" week. Please, watch! 7:30pm on the Game Show Network.

Anyway, the second title of this blog is because I have started to like Naruto. Before, I just couldn't understand why everyone loved a crazy ninja on crack. However, the show is way more than that. How many ninja shows are on the air right now anyway? (On that subject, I always ask my friend: How many pirate shows are on TV? The only one that comes to mind is One Piece)

Since I last wrote a blog, I saw Wicked and loved it, more than The Wizard of Oz, which is saying A LOT! I have become obssessed with the soundtrack. It's really good.

Right now, I am on spring break and I am going to challenge myself by trying to make one episode of any of the TV shows I edit complete, like the episode will have quotes and recaps and cast, everything. Except, tomorrow doesn't count because I am going to Knott's Berry Farm. Yay!

This series probably has many classics, but this one was terrific! This was one of the first manga stories and I'm glad for that because I got really hooked on this show after that.

Anyway, like in the first episode, there were changes made to this one. I have told people before that I love it when books are made into movies and things are changed. (Like Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown... I thought the movie was better than Elmore Leonard's Rum Punch.) While I was first watching to me continued... bas bas bas bads bads s bads sa bads ba

While this is not really the pilot episode, it is the first and I would definitely consider it a pilot because of the various changes made suggesting how the show will be different from CLAMP's manga.

Although they have made Mokona useless, I still love Mokona. I'm glad they introduced him in the first episode. I also appreciate how the anime team is doing something differently. I like the fact that Watanuki leaves. He did not do that in the manga and it gives more depth to his character. Also, extending this storyline was good because of the girl who was pretending to see the spirits.

Overall, I loved this episode, with the opening and ending credits. I'm excited about the rest to come.

xxxHOLiC has to be my favorite work from CLAMP. They took many recycled ideas, including their own, and made it new and refreshing!

Not only that, but Production I.G's work makes the show gorgeous! Production I.G doing the animation for one of CLAMP's creations is certainly a dream team. Production I.G's style is most apparent in the Tsubasa Chroncile movie, which xxxHOLiC main character Yuuko makes a cameo appearance in. Production I.G did not do the animation in the regular series of Tsubasa Chronicle, so the team made that movie look fantastic! They've gone from giant robots to cyborgs to a shop that grants wishes? Isn't that just amazing. Okay, my production I.G rants is over. They are just amazing. I am now a part of four guides that have used them in some way.

Anyway, while it is disappointing that this show will not cross over with Tsubasa, it allows for some more creativity. Watanuki and Yuuko can be seprate from Syaoran and Sakura. I mean, Tsubasa Chronicle already has Yuuko in it all the time, so why not make this it's own show? The manga crosses over and that really is enough. However, they are skipping some stories from the manga and doing things differently, but I always say things should be done differently. It's called creative change. Why watch something exactly the same as something you've already read, right? So, it's great and it always leaves room for surprise.

All in all, the anime looks great, the storyline is terrific and it's all around fun. I would reccomend this show to anyone who has liked CLAMP's previous works, or anime in general. But, I would not let someone who has not experienced anime let this be there first. I give the show a 10 because I love it so much.

Wow! I just saw this show and I am so amazed by it!! I love everything about it. I am also very glad that I got the first review. :D However, I have only seen one episode and I may change it. Anyway, from what I have seen and heard about the rest of the series, it is phenominal (or however you spell that). I got the starter set and I plan on collecting that all. It is a great market strategy. I am glad FUNimation does that. I also appreciate the voice acting. Christopher R. Sabat must love FUNimation. Anyway... expect more from me!

This was my first episode and an excellent episode to begin watching the show. I just finished viewing it for the first time and thank God (or MTV) for releasing the entire series on DVD!

I had never even heard of the show until interest in the new movie began rising. The animation is great for being over 10 years old. I can easily see the anime influence involved.

What I enjoyed about the pilot was that there was not a word of English spoken. The only speech was from a newscaster in the background, but it was not in English. I was happy with this because it shows that you can convey thoughts and emotions without words in an animated work. The violence was awesome and I was just waiting for her to step on that stupid nail. When she did, I was so surprised because she falls off the building and dies! In the pilot! However, she is somehow reborn with a weird tickling scene in the very end of the episode. This definitely captures my interest and makes me wonder of things to come. Will we understand what her mission(s) is/are? What she really is? Spoken words? The mysteries keep arising and it has only been one episode.

I must also mention that I noticed a lot of symbolism. However, I cannot really explain what it means...

About Me

StarlightMaker
Seriously, I just love TV in general. Through the Internet, TiVo and my video iPod I have been able to broaden my TV horizon. I put videos on my iPod and take it to school and watch shows during break and even in class, LOL! (I'm so sneaky. UPDATE: I don't do that anymore because there is not enough time with AP classes.) Anyway, I'm a teenage male just living in the world and enjoying life. Yes, I have been neglecting my guides slightly, but that's only because I've actually been watching the shows I edit. (See, I can come up with an excuse for anything.) That's about it. Oh, when I was younger I piloted a giant robot and helped save the world!
