Wow

Wow. Avatar is over with one of the best animated, or just in general, finales of all time. I'm sad and yet happy.

Bittersweet Goodbyes

College is a weird place. You hate the work you have to do but sometimes (at least for most people) you are force to leave with people for many months. You then get to know these people and some you like, some you don't. Then you get close with these people and become good friends and then you do fun things. Then as quickly as you were brought together, you are taken apart. You finish with your classes and finals and then have to go back home and leave the people you just became so attached to. Maybe you are lucky and live close to them and maybe you aren't. Its a sad day when you really don't mind staying at school just to chill but you have to leave at some point.

I left today. I'm kinda sad, you know. Its bittersweet really. I wanted to go home but I didn't want to leave my newest friends after all the good times we just had. But I have to get over things eventually. I am home many moons before most of my friends, so I will have to wait in solititude while looking for employment. Speaking of which I really need to find a job within the next week or so.

If you haven't figured out by now, I am home from Pitt and officially done with finals for this semester and I am home till August!

I will be around a lot more, so be on the look out for my comments!

Poem of the Day

On Pain

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses

your understanding.

-

Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its

heart may stand in the sun, so you must know pain.

-

And could you keep your heart in wonder at the

daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem

less wondorous than your joy;

-

And you would accept the seasons of your heart,

even as always you have accepted the seasons that

pass over your fields.

-

And you would watch with serenity through the

winters of your grief.

-

Much of your pain is self-chose.

-

It is the bitter potion by which the physcian within

you heals your sick self.

-

Therefore trust the physcian, and drink his remedy

in silence and tranquility:

-

For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by

the tender hand of the Unseen,

-

And the cup he brings, though it burns your lips, has

been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has

moistened with His own sacred tears.

-Khalil Gibran

Finals

I know I've been gone for a very long time. I've stopped by once or twice but I haven't been on a lot. Let me tell you why. I have been swamped with work to no end. So I've been really busy. But have no fear, I shall return after next week. Next week is finals and so I will be done with school work until august!!!! I'm pumped. So have faith my friends, I shall return.

Poem of the Day

A Dream Within A Dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!

And in parting from you now,

Thus much let me avow -

You are not wrong, who deem

That my days have been a dream;

Yet if hope has flown away,

In a night, or in a day

In a vision, or in none,

Is it therefore the less gone?

All that we see or seem

Is but a dream within a dream.

-

I stand amid the roar

Of a surf-tormented shore,

And I hold within my hand

Grains of golden sand-

How few! Yet how they creep

Through my fingers to the deep,

While I weep, while I weep!

O God! can I not grasp

Them with a tighter clasp?

O God! can I not save

One from the pitiless wave?

Is all that we see or seem

But a dream within a dream?

-Edgar Allen Poe

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)

So, I got my genetics test back today and guess what! I didn't fail! woot! I actually got an 85, I was pretty pumped. Next order of business, I haven't been on that often lately because I've had a ton of work to do for school but that is going to change for the next few weeks so I'll be back lurking in the shadows and putting in my two cents when I feel necessary.

I must say that I'm disappointed in today. It is just a day like any other day but it's supposed to be more. Oh well I can't say it hasn't been like every other time. Sometimes life can just be a let down in the end. I'm still basically happy so its all good.

No really good interesting stories to tell. Oh wait just let me think a minute. *thinks* Well I have been getting lots of mutant flies which is good. Which means my screen is working and that is fantastic but there is still many more stages left in this experiment. Anyways, I had my interview for being an R.A. the other day and I thought it went really well. I hoped they didn't get the impression that I was too busy though. Thats all I'm worried about. Anyways its time for the poem of the day.

Poem of the Day

i carry your heart

by e. e. cummings

i carry your heart with me(I carry it in

my heart)i am never without it(anywhere

I go you go, my dear;and whatever is done

by only me is your doing,my darling)

-

i fear

no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet)i want

no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)

and its you are whatever a moon has always meant

and whatever a sun will always sing is you

-

here is the deepest secret no one knows

(here is the root of the root and bud of the bud

and the sky of a sky called the tree of life;which grows

higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that is keeping the stars apart

-

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Nightmares and Daydreams is an episode about Aang's anxiety of the upcoming battle, The Day of Black Sun. He is exhibiting sleeplessness, hallucinations from aforementioned sleeplessness, and lack of faith in himself. This episode made an effort to confer the feelings of anxiety and desperation through Aang's time leading up to The Day of Black Sun. He has lost his faith in his fighting ability and is constantly wanting to train even though he can barely stay awake. After a while things start to get to him and he begins to hallucinate and daydream, but this only furthers his restlessness and only makes the situation continually worse. This cycle occurs until he finally is able to be calmed down by his friends.

I think this episode tries to convey the feelings that Aang is going through during the time leading up to the invasion, like anxious, bewildered, and confused. It does this while trying to keep it as light hearted as possible with the parts with Appa and Momo talking and fighting and the Guru making his cameo appearance. So all in all, it wasn't as disappointing as everyone makes it out to be but it is a way to prepare us for the Day of Black Sun just as Aang is trying to prepare himself for the big day.
