MY REVIEWS

  • show: American Idol

episode: One Must Go Home Tonight! 5 Finalists Remain When The Results Are Revealed

    The Bottom Line: "Fair"

I loved Kelly, even if she did stink the joint up in recent weeks with her performances. She's one of the most enduring personalities I've encountered on this show in the five seasons I've watched. Her spirit and charm are more real than a lot of clueless people in the audience seem to want to believe. This no doubt carried her far further than her talent should have allowed. And make no mistake it was not her vocal talent that got her here. Although when given the right song she could make you think she deserved to be the next AMERICAN IDOL. Problem is those weeks were few and far between.

But basing this eviction on wednesday night's god awful performances, she definitely was the worst as is the case with this series every week, someone has to go and this week, it HAD to be her. Goodbye Kelly.

  • show: American Idol

    episode: Top 6 Perform

    The Bottom Line: "Abysmal"

What an incredibly awful night of "entertainment." What clueless high powered executive thought this would be a great night of tv? Whoever that was, he should be found now and shot..repeatedly.

Every single performance was borderline awful with Kelly and Taylor really standing as the stink-factor mounted. While Elliot, Paris and a dorky looking Chris did just barely enough to survive. My pick for most interesting performance was Katherine McPhee's dress, no not her, HER DRESS. Did anyone else see her boobs about to pop out and her undies on full display? Her singing was only OK, but gotta love that dress.

In conclusion, I think we may look back on this night in 2 to 3 years and say this is the night American Idol officially jumped the shark. I pray next week is not "best of Kidz Bop" or some similar theme, cause if it is I may not watch anymore this season. SHEESH.

    episode: The Lubner's

    The Bottom Line: "Terrible"

It's hard to believe that the smartest, most mature member of the Lubner family is their 9 year old daughter, Hannah. But it's true. I watched this episode and came to the following conclusions: Mom is clueless, hateful and not very interested in her husband or child (she prefers tv),
Dad is more interested in hating on his wife, surfing the internet and ignoring his kid than loving either of the woman in his life and Hannah is basically raising herself.

Enter our "hero" Shmuley, who seems at a loss as to what to do with this dysfunctional clan from the very get-go. After all else fails, he even resorts to a painful to watch "family" dinner were he sets off-screen and coachs the members of the family on correct behavior. All this ends up doing is making cynical Hannah the family outcast and Shmuley look like a "shmuck." Then we getta see a so fake-it's-funny-as-all-hell bed time scene with Mommy and daddy putting their little princess to bed. Who reads a story to a nine-year old who is smarter than you are?

After seeing the way Mom and Dad Lubner over react to Hannah's comments at dinner and basing there reactions solely on Shmuley's words as to when to say something. I have to say, they need more than a jewish with a ugly RV to help them. They need a REAL family counselor.

I think I can see why poor Shmuley is not recognized world-wide as an expert on family. Cause as is evidenced by the follow up (2 months later), in which the Lubner's are back in their old habits, he's not.
