SpongeBob SquarePants Best Day Ever Avg Score: 6.45 Total Ratings: 152 Total Reviews: 61 Users who agree: 4 Users who disagree: 1 |
Along with the other episodes in this season, "The Best Day Ever" completely jumps the shark. I absolutely love Spongbob Squarepants as a series; I have since it first premiered. Its classic and unique brand of humor always made me laugh, and the storylines were always creative and enjoyable. This episode, unfortunately, does not live up to standards. It really was not funny in any way; there were many cheap gags that disappointed me. There was also the issue of Tom Kenny's voice not matching Spongebob's usual voice; don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Mr. Kenny and his work, but if you listen to Spongebob in this episode, it doesn't sound like him. I believe this is due to the show being on hiatus for awhile after the movie, but still.
So, in all, this episode was just pure disappointment. I never thought I'd say this, but Spongebob Squarepants has jumped the shark.

Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide Double Dating / The Last Day Avg Score: 9.40 Total Ratings: 84 Total Reviews: 28 Users who agree: 2 |
I really enjoyed this episode. I have to admit, I had my doubts about Ned and Moze. They're one set of best friends on TV that I actually have trouble imagining together. Overall, though, I loved the plot and thought it was a great way to end the season and set up the final one.
I thought that the kiss set up was handled very well. The fact that Moze and Susie's hairstyles and dresses matched perfectly made the kiss look realistically accidental; if it was done any other way, I think it would've come across as very fake. I also loved that Ned and Moze kissed again on the bus, showed signs of sparks, and had Cookie sit smack down in the middle of them.
The only problem that I had with this episode was the running gag with "the runs". As I said in my summary, this show has set a standard for its clever and classic comedy, and I felt that this gag compromised its quality. They could've found another way to keep Ned away from Susie and still make it funny.
Overall, an excellant episode. I'm looking forward to the final season and what's going to happen with Moze, Ned, Susie, Cookie and Lisa. Can't wait!

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius Clash of the Cousins / Who's Your Mommy Avg Score: 8.19 Total Ratings: 50 Total Reviews: 5 Users who agree: 3 Users who disagree: 1 |
"Who's Your Mommy?" is a classic example of a TV show going way too far. As I watched the episode, I was saying to myself, "How are they getting away with this stuff in a cartoon?!?!?" I mean, really, Carl getting PREGNANT?
I definitely have to critique the writing on this episode. I've always thought of Jimmy Neutron as a kids' show with some adult humor (much like Butch Hartman's shows), but the writing for this episode was RIDICULOUS! There are 8 year olds watching this show, and here they are making all these PG-13 pregnancy references (I won't go into specifics because I don't know if younger kids will be reading this review)! I'm almost 15, and I felt uncomfortable watching it.
The other thing that bugged me was, well, Carl. Don't get me wrong; I love Rob Paulsen and I'm a huge fan of his work, but his character slipped a few times in this episode. For instance, when Carl's eating his weird pregnancy cravings sundae and he starts to get mood swingy, his voice sounds really angry- but it doesn't sound like Carl. It almost sounds like Rob is speaking in his normal voice.
So, in all, I give this episode a 2. There were times when I'd be laughing, but as a reviewer, I think it was awful. All I can say is, if we're not careful, kids will know PG-13 things at 8 years old!

Drake and Josh Foam Finger Avg Score: 9.23 Total Ratings: 66 Total Reviews: 18 |
This was an awesome episode for the series. I say that because when the show first came out, I thought it was really stupid, but once the second season hit, I became addicted! Anyway, I thought this episode showed a lot of character traits that we'd never seen before.
First off, I have to say it- the (flashback) kid actors rocked! From the second I saw the young Drake and Josh, I kept saying, "They matched those guys PERFECTLY!" The thing that I was most impressed with was that they didn't just look like Drake and Josh- they WERE them. Every aspect of the guys' characters showed, even through their 8 year old counterparts.
I saw a lot of character advancement in this episode. One of the most noticeable things happened towards the end, when Drake and Josh apologized to each other; I thought it was really sweet, and we also got to see another side of each of the guys. The other thing that really intrigued me was actually toward the start of the episode; when Josh and Drake begin fighting, Josh says, "Bring it, Parker!" The fact that he used Drake's last name gives a little insight to Josh...maybe some awkward tension left from the spur-of-the-moment marriage that began the series?
I've been wanting to see some more development on Drake and Josh's pasts, and this is a really great start. I loved the episode, and I hope to see more like it.
Who knows? Maybe we'll find out what happened to Drake's dad and Josh's mom.....

Danny Phantom The Fenton Menace Avg Score: 8.93 Total Ratings: 165 Total Reviews: 31 |
Like I said, this episode was really okay. I say this for a few reasons....
First of all, it was played out of context. You see, Jazz says in the beginning that she'd never tell anyone Danny's secret, including Danny-unless his life was at stake. But in Ultimate Enemy, Jazz confirms that she knows Danny's secret. I don't think that it was done purposely, but the episode didn't make sense because of this premiere flaw.
Another reason I didn't like this episode too much was because it played up on cheap gags. Butch Hartman has always impressed me (with both of his shows) by providing viewers with more mature humor. Much like the butt-ghost-ray in "Memory Blank", they used Tucker's sound simulator for cheap laughs (farting, vomiting, etc.), which really disappointed me.
On the other hand, though, I enjoyed certain aspects of the episode. For example, I loved Jack and Maddie in this episode. The two of them were the comic relief; the whole issue of no ghost hunting equipment made everything hysterical.
The other thing that I really liked was that we saw another side of Jazz; when Danny made her act like a kid, I thought it was a real turn-around for her character. Because she DOES act like an adult all the time, it was refreshing to see the opposite.
So, in all, a decent episode, but I think the next one will be better.
