Even though this episode is number 10 in the release date order, it is in fact the pilot episode that was shot back in Novemeber of 1965. This is a great episode and makes you instantly fall in love with those zany Monkees. Although it is the pilot, you would never be able to tell. The boys hair is shorter, but their talent is still as large as can be. I absoultely love the "I Wanna Be Free" sequence where Vanessa and the boys are having fun at the Kiddie Land amusement park. This episode has all the charm and hilarity of all the episodes to come. By watching this pilot episode, you can obvious see why The Monkees became and still are one of the biggest successes of our time.

For the first episode of this great series it is pretty good. I love the scene at the office where Buddy and Rob are arguing over what to put in the show and of course one cannot forget the constant insults thrown in Mel's direction by Buddy. I also enjoyed the scene where they are at Alan's apartment and Buddy, Sally, and Rob perform. I absoultely died laughing at Rob's impression of Laura's Uncle Henry. I still don't know how he makes his legs that loose. All in all it was a good episode and I am looking forward to seeing the other episodes that have helped make this show a classic.

This was an okay episode, but still not one of season one's best. A lot of the events that happen in this episode are ones that would probably happen very rarely. For example, when Jim is hypnotized he looks down at a jewel that is in Ahkeema's stick pin. It just so happens that the light catches it and it begins to sparkle, making Jim very interested in it. When the time has come to kill Ho-Tami, Ahkeema is wearing that same stick pin with the same jewel inside. Some sort of light just so happens to catch the jewel again and it just so happens to catch Jim's eye again right before he is about to kill Ho-Tami and snaps him out of his trance. That sereies of events is just too unreal. So many things had to happen just right for that certain outcome to occur, but it was still fun to watch.

This episode really doesn't have any crazy villians that are trying to take over some part of the United States. Just a museum owner that wants to own every great piece of art he possibly can, including the Mona Lisa. Once again Ross Martin steals the show as the French art critic who Professor Bolt believes will determine whether or not he will be able to purchase the Mona Lisa. Artemus does a wonderful job in convincing Professor Bolt that a lot of his art masterpieces are frauds. All in all a good episode, but still not one of the best episodes in season one.

This was an okay episode for season one, but dull compared to the episodes yet to come. The whole plot of the episode is someone somewhere is able to produce earthquakes when every they want, so Jim and Artemus must find whoever is behind the earthquakes and put a stop to them. Add a kooky geologist to the story and that's pretty much it. My favorite scene would have to be when Artemus goes to the courthouse in Sawtooth to warn them of the next earthquake and talks around in circles with the old clerk. Everything he says she turns it around to make him look stupid. For example, he tells her that she should trust him because he is a member of the secret service to which she relpies that if it was a secret he wouldn't have told her. Too funny!!
