Decepticons, transform and rise up!

Now, I've been watching Transformers: Animated since it premiered in December. While I love the Autobots and the human characters, the Decepticons are by far more amazing. No longer the 'we formulate a fool-proof plan, carry it out, the Autobots foil us, we retreat every episode' Decepticons, these Decepticons are more vicious, devious, cunning and a major threat. I mean, it took all 5 Autobots to even fight one Decepticon. Megatron is no longer a bumbling leader, but a competent frightening, ruthless force to be reckoned with. Starscream here is more treacherous and cunning, done surprisingly well by Spongebob Squarepants himself, Tom Kenny. Lugnut's fanaticism to Megatron and Blitzwing's craziness is a joy to watch. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the Animated Decepticons:

Blitzwing: (Angry face) Ze name is Blitzving, insect! Remember it! 'Cause it's ze last thing you're gonna hear before I- (switches to crazy face) - express my feelings in song! De itzy bitzy spider...

Soundwave: I am Soundwave! I am Decepticon! The revolution begins now.

Blitzwing: (Angry face) Careful, you copper-clad klutz! You stepped in something (switches to crazy face) But with a few dancing lessons, you'll be light on you're stabilizing servos like me. Cha cha cha.

Lugnut: I believe only two things: The Decepticons will rule Cybertron, and Megatron will rule the Decepticons!

Blitzwing: (Calm face)The Autobots have called in reinforcements. Perhaps we should lay low until we can determine their strength and numbers.
Lugnut: I will not hide. I will stand proudly and shout Megatron's name to the heavens!
Megatron: Oh, for spark's sake...

Blitzwing: (Calm face) I vill choose zis fighter jet. (switches to angry face) No, de assault tank! (changes back and forth between faces) Jet. Tank! De jet. Tank! Jet. Tank! (changes to crazy face) Oh, ooh-hoo, vy not scan both?

Blitzwing: (Crazy face) Help. Give me a hand! Or-or a foot? How about a pelvis?!

Starscream: I'll help you downgrades! But only if you pledge undying alliegance to me!

Blitzwing: (Calm face) Decepticons, Decepticons. Can't we all just get along? (Switches to Angry face) Or should I crush you into scrap metal?

Starscream: Megatron?! Alive? And looking... magnificent, as always.
Megatron: Starscream. How good it is to be reunited with such a devoted and faithful subject in my time of need.
Starscream: I would have come sooner, o grand and illustrious leader, but naturally we all assumed you perished at the hands of the Autobot scum. What... great... joy to discover you did not.
Megatron: Yes. Delight is written all over your face.

Starscream: You interrupted my SPEECH!!!!

Megatron: Decepticons, transform and rise up!

Megatron: Is that the best you could do, Starscream? And to think you actually believed you could take over as leader of the Decepticons. You couldn't lead a parade.

Starscream: Prepare yourself, Megatron, you pompous scrapheap! For my vengeance will be swift and painful!

Megatron: Fellow Decepticons, take heed. Your leader, Megatron, still lives! Though we remain dispersed throughout the far reaches of the galaxy, exiled from our true home, we are all still Decepticons, united by a common purpose. The time has come for us to put aside our differences and act as one under my undisputed leadership. Only then can we cast off the shackles of Autobot oppression. Working together, we can raise up our glorious empire once more and crush all who stand in our way!

Megatron: STARSCREAM!
Starscream: Sorry, you must have me confused with some other harrier jet.

Iron Man!

Hey, everyone. This is my first post and though I could be talking about myself, instead, I'm going to talk about a movie I just saw this weekend, Iron Man.

Iron Man was phenomenal! I loved it and I can't stop gushing about it. It was that good. I mean, it might as well be, given it made over $100 million opening weekend.

First of all is the cast. Robert Downey, Jr. was born to portray Tony Stark. He portrays Stark as the smart, arrogant magnificent jerk that he is perfectly! And I loved the way he slowly grows a sense of moral consciousness as he does everything he can to correct the wrongs his company has done. Gwyneth Paltrow does a spectacular job as Pepper Potts. She was smart, loyal, witty, and dare I say it, kinda hot. I like Terrence Howard as James Rhodes. He didn't have many scenes, but he did fine in the ones he did.

The story was pretty good. It follows the comic book origin pretty closely. As mentioned above, it's mainly about Tony Stark, the futurist businessman and inventor, kidnapped by terrorists and forced to build them their weapons. Instead, he builds an armor and uses it to escape. After returning from his imprisonment, he realizes that his company has been supplying the same terrorists with its weapons and decides to put a stop to it. So he build his own armor and becomes Iron Man to stop them.

In conclusion, the movie was awesome. There's great action, humor and characterization. It's worth it to see Iron Man in action. I can't wait for the sequel (Oh, trust me, there will be a sequel).

Finally, a Spider-Man show the fans have been waiting for.

This show seems to capture the true essence of Spider-Man. This series takes place during Peter's junior year in high school, about a couple of months after Peter Parker was bitten by the radioactive spider and became Spider-Man. All he's fought are just common crooks, thugs and thieves. But now Spider-Man has to take on his classic rogue gallery such as the Vulture, Lizard, Electro, Green Goblin, etc. The action sequences are amazing. I love the way that Spider-Man swings from web to web. Lets not forget about the fight scenes between his adversaries. The battle sequences are cool! Spider-Man actually gets to throw a punch and kick at his enemies! It's fun to watch Spider-Man fight and dodge his enemies.

But The Spectacular Spider-Man isn't just Spider-Man's show. Peter Parker gets just the same amount of screen time as his heroic counterpart. This show cleverly intertwines Spider-Man's inner struggles with Peter Parker's own troubles in his social life. And the people in his life are just as great as the webslinger himself. Though Harry Osborne and Gwen Stacy met Peter in college in the comics, here they are his best friends in high school. Here, Harry is Peter's dorky best friend while Gwen is Peter's gal-pal who has an unrequited crush on him. Aunt May is a little more modern and less naive and J. Jonah Jameson is the same loudmouth editor-in-chief. If you are a Spider-Man fan, give this show a chance. You'll feel like you're watching a comic book playing in front of you. Plus, Greg Weisman, the creator of Gargoyles, was involved in this show. Anything by Greg is bound to be spectacular.

This has got to be one of the best animated shows of all time.

Now, I haven't seen many episodes of the original G1 series, so my knowledge of the show is very limited. But after seeing the Transformers movie, my curiosity of the franchise grew. After hearing that there's a new Transformers cartoon coming out, I decided to check it out and I was not disappointed.

The episodes are funny and awesome. Each episode seems to lead into one heck of an epic storyline.

But what makes this episode are the characters
The Autobots are amazing reluctant heroes:
*Optimus Prime: Unlike his G1 counterpart, he's younger and less experienced. But he has the makings of a true leader and hero.
*Bumblebee: The young impulsive smart-mouth.
*Ratchet: The grumpy veteran.
*Bulkhead: The easy-going strong guy.
*Prowl: The stoic ninja.
*Sari: The ready-for-adventure kind of girl

It's just not the Autobots that make the show. It's also the Decepticons. They're trying to make them unlike their G1 counterparts, where they carry out a plan to take over the world, get defeated by the Autobots, then retreat every single episode:
*Megatron: Even more of a manipulative schemer, even if he's just a head.
*Starscream: Even more traitorous and vile
*Lugnut: His blind loyalty is just funny
*Blitzwing: He and his three personalities are hilarious.
*Blackarachnia: The tragic femme fatale

Give this show a look. There's enough fun for new and old fans. Season 2 just started and by the looks of the first couple of episodes, it's going to be even more epic than the first.

The Elite Guard

Once again, Transformers: Animated has scored another home run with this season premier.

This was a spectacular episode with very interesting new characters and plot twists. Now that the Decepticons are defeated for the time being, who should arrive but the Elite Guard, which consist of Ultra Magnus, Sentinel Prime, and Jazz.

While the Decepticons and Dinobots made a very short appearance and the corrupted robots weren't really much of a threat, the main focus here were the Elite Guard and they were spectacular!

Ultra Magnus: The leader, booming with authority especially when he released his inner Thor on those robots.

Sentinel Prime: Jerk.

Jazz: He is officially my favorite character. When I found out he would first appear in this episode, I couldn't wait and when I saw the episode, Jazz did not disappoint. He has the same vibe as his G1 counterpart and he is incredibly cool. Heck, even Prowl was impressed by his ninja skills. If the Elite Guard leave Earth, I want Jazz to stay just because he is so awesome. But the most interesting part of the episode was the ending where we find out Sari doesn't legally exist. How? Why?

Anyways, an amazing episode. Hope to see more of the Elite Guard, especially Jazz.

Megatron Rising - Part 2

This was a nice end to the two parter. I admit, I was a bit peeved about the glaring absence of the Dinobots and that Blackarachnia just appeared for a small role. It was just the five Autobots and the Decepticons. And it was awesome because they took down the Decepticons with nothing but their brains. I mean, if the Dinobots or any type of calvary came in, it would've taken away their full victory. I liked how Bulkhead used Lugnut's 'punch' to blow him away. It was hilarious how Bumblebee egged Blitzwing on to transform into a tank - while in midair.

But the climax is where things took off. Megatron finally takes the All Spark, but Optimus Prime won't let him. They struggle, but the energies of the All Spark were dispersed and Megatron was temporarily defeated. But it turns out to be a hollow victory when it's discovered that he kidnaps Professor Sumdac.

What will happen to him? What kind of new Transformers will be infused with the All Spark energies? What about the Elite Guard?

A great ending!

Finally, after many episodes of all sorts of craziness, everything's finally coming together with this episode.

The Autobots are in trouble. They only had a chance of winning is by working as a team, but the pressure of the Decepticon threat has torn them apart. Optimus was trying to keep his team together, but trying to has made him seem like a jerk. He took Sari's key and Bumblebee's mad at him because of it and he also gets upset when he finds out that Prowl and Bulkhead freed the Dinobots.

The Decepticons were amazing as ever. All were in this episode (except for Soundwave). Starscream was cool as his usual scheming and narcissistic self. I loved Lugnut's fanaticism for Megatron. And the way he acted fanatically in front of Starscream was pure gold. Blitzwing was just as funny with his personality or rather personalities. And seeing Blackarachnia was a surprise. Ever since the first episode, we were waiting for Megatron to be the badass that he is. But he still Megatron even when he was just a head. He's the master manipulator, pulling the invisible strings with his many schemes: building Soundwave as a new body, giving Nanosec his powers, constructing the Dinobots...

Speaking of the Dinobots, seeing them here was a surprise and an amazing one at that. Though they only had a short appearance, they were still awesome. But the best part of the episode was near the end, when Megatron returns, with his whole body. With the Autobots in shambles and the Decepticons threat real, how will the Autobots survive? I can't wait 'til part 2.
