Star Trek: Voyager Real Life Avg Score: 8.41 Total Ratings: 96 Total Reviews: 3 |
What more can be said about and episode that does so much in such a short time? The writing is unbelievable and the direction and acting nothing short of superior. I have one quantifying rule which distinguishes a perfect piece of work from a good or even great one. Can it make me cry? I wept openly during parts of this show, and outright sobbed when during some others. I am not an easily swayed person. I don't just sit down and cry at every tearjerker. Part of me is always aware that I am not watching reality. No matter how real, its not really. So when the writing and directing and acting are THAT good, its saying something. Who among us hasn't wanted to 'turn off' life at some point, when things become too much to deal with. And during that key scene, it made me think of those times when I might have wished JUST that. It tied me into the character, the moment. For that one perfect second, I FELT it.
So so many of had our doubts about The Doctor when Voyager was first introduced. But throughout the show he grows, in his character AND to the viewers. This episode is among the best of the series, in my humble opinion. Bring tissues ladies... and yes, even some men too.

Star Trek: Voyager Warlord Avg Score: 7.51 Total Ratings: 94 Total Reviews: 4 |
This is a brilliant episode with an excellent plot and fantastic writing. Jennifer Lien turns in nothing short of a career performance. She is mind blowing portraying a power hungry Warlord, a male no less, in a woman's body. And don't even get me started on how amazing she looks in full body leather. Kes is usually so reserved and bubbly, and dresses the part. The intent was to let Jennifer Lien stretch her acting chops, and she lives up to the challenge remarkably. It wouldn't be unfair to say that all the other members of the cast pale in comparison during this episode. Not usually the case, but certainly true in this episode.

Angel Five by Five Avg Score: 9.36 Total Ratings: 377 Total Reviews: 15 |
This is simply one of the best Angel episodes. It has action and adventure, and more than a little drama at the end. Faith is always a treat to watch, and the fight between her and Angel is one of the series' best. Try not to cry when Faith finally breaks down and cries in Angel's arms. This starts the road to Faith's redemption.
The writers outdid themselves on this episode. I would rank this among Angel's top 10 episodes, and the fight is extremely well choreographed.
It's a shame that Eliza Dushku never got to star in the talked about Faith series because of the conflict with Tru Calling, which is a much underrated show.

Angel I Will Remember You Avg Score: 9.35 Total Ratings: 525 Total Reviews: 57 |
Absolutely heartwrenching. The end scene, where Buffy and Angel have only a minute left... I cry no matter how many times I have watched it.
This episode is a classic example of why the BuffyVerse is so amazing. The characters are so real that you actually get attatched to them, and that means the writers and directors are doing their jobs superbly.
The only question the episode raised was when Angel became briefly human. Regardless of no longer being a vampire, he still remains under the curse. Wouldn't a moment of happiness result in the loss of his soul, leaving him a psychopathic killer of some sort? Just a curiousity.
Absolutely worth a watch.
