I don't know if its just that I was a dinosaur nut as a kid, but this episode is my all-time favorite Voyager episode. The idea for this one was great. What would have happened to the dinosaur's futures had they not died out? I'm not trying to raise the evolution vs. creation debate here, but this episode imagines that evolution for the dinosaurs eventually took them into space. And the storyline was great, too. By having the evolved dinosaurs themselves accuse the blasphemous scientist who would dare to question their origins of being a heretic, evolution vs. creation is right there in the episode! Good, fun stuff!!

Oh, man. How could anyone not love this stuff? Flawed heroes, doing wrong things for the right reasons. Great special effects, outstanding writing, superb acting. This show is what sci-fi is all about. It tackles the crew's adventures with humor while retaining the seriousness of their issues. Malcolm is a good man, concealed in a facade of gruffness. Wash keeps it light and is the guy you want as a friend. Kaley is absolutely adorable, you just want to put your arms around her and soak up the optimism. I could list the whole crew's traits, but it wouldn't do them justice. Fifteen episodes and one movie of this series will never be enough.

Ambition is at the forefront of this show. Lots of very good eye candy with all the top-notch set designs, costumes and make-up. Even the special effects aren't bad considering a television budget and the advances of CGI technology since the show aired. The plot was sufficient to establish the series, but the writing itself sometimes seemed more in line with a bad B-Movie. The dialogue was hard to watch at times. The acting was even worse as the poorly written lines were delivered. Over the top intensity. I don't know if the writer, director or show's creator decided the show needed to be so serious, but where was the light-heartedness? It's sci-fi!!
