Rebecca Locke

I idolize Rebecca Locke. Worship the ground she walks on...which makes me a strange, strange girl since she's just a character. But that isn't really the point. She's the best crime fighting female character there is...the Clarice Starling of TV. She's undeniably beautiful, yet flawed. She saves herself instead to waiting for someone else to save her. In other words, she's no damsel in distress waiting for her night in shining armor to rescue her.

There's a golden rule for women characters in crime dramas. They must have had a past where they were victims, whether it be abusive parents, foster care, abandonment, abduction, a murdered friend/family member or abduction. Rebecca Locke is no exception - but her past makes her stronger and a compelling character.

Random drabble about Veronica Mars LoVe & MiSa

Don't expect me to say anything really meaningful...I'm a random kind of girl who talks about everything and nothing.

RIP Veronica Mars! You will forever be in my heart. For some reason, my LoVe obsession has came back and it's stronger than ever...

Kristen Bell is my total girl crush.

Thank God she's coming back to TV this fall, on one of my favorite shows, Heroes!

Yeah...Michael & Sara...one of my other favorite couples...aren't they romantic?

So excited! Just one more week to go until all the season/series premieres of fall TV come! Yes...I am fully aware I have so little of a life I find new fall TV exciting.

Criminal Minds continues to surprise me with this fine installment. This episode was a change of pace, not being a serial killer case but rather the team searching for a missing little girl who may or may not be connected to the rape/murder of another young girl in the area. The plot was excellent and nothing the team has ever dealt with before, but because the plot had a dark twist it forced the character out of everyone. JJ, Morgan & Reid acted exactly how you'd expect them to based on their character. The standout in this one was Prentiss. I, for one, am extremely excited to see some definition coming out of Prentiss's character. Prentiss finally gets her chance to shine when she is questioning the aunt, becoming ruthless and determined to find the girl's whereabouts.

The episode had a great twist with the girl being held captive by her aunt because she thought that getting rid of her would 'heal' her husband of becoming a pedophile. The episode was a nail biter, because unlike other episodes where we get to see glances of the victims alive or dead with their abductors/murderers, we see nothing of the little girl. The audience doesn't know if she's dead or alive until the very last minute.

If this level of writing is continued, it will be the best season yet.

Cold Case
A Dollar, A Dream
Avg Score: 9.11    Total Ratings: 93    Total Reviews: 8
The quality of Cold Case has declined in the past few seasons. Seasons 1 and 2 were great and had excellent, emotionally charged episodes which made you forget about the ridiculous law practices but in season 3, the show just started getting silly. But once in a while, there's an episode which is up to the quality of season 1 & 2 episodes.

A Dollar, a Dream was a great installment. It showed how fast you could lose everything - your house, your husband and for most people, your dignity. The victim in this episode kept her dignity - she was too proud to ask for help, too proud to stay in a shelter. It was heartbreaking to see her make empty promises to her daughters, about them having a better life. I also liked the dynamic of the family - one girl was optimistic and kept the faith, the other was pessimistic and didn't think the family would have a better life.

Criminal Minds
Children of the Dark
Avg Score: 9.11    Total Ratings: 173    Total Reviews: 12
I must say Children of the Dark redeemed my complete interest in Criminal Minds. The first three episodes of the season were mediocre and less interesting than the episodes of seasons 1 & 2. This episode was so sad & in a way, very disturbing because I found myself feeling sympathy for the killers, especially Ervin. It was so sad when he euthanized the cat, you could understand why he killed the kids by administrated a lethal dose of drugs so they wouldn't have to suffer in foster care. This episode also showed some insight into the character's lives - we now learn that Prentiss isn't as ice cold as she appeared to be when we were first introduced to her last season. She really did want to help Carrie. Definitely the best episode this season and probably the most emotional of the series yet.

The Inside
Skin and Bone

As a series finale it was a bit disappointing. I, too, thought it would be about Rebecca's kidnapping and Pony Man. After all, at the end of Point of Origin he was very much alive, on the hunt a new little girl to kidnap. Skin and Bone was a regular case with the twist that it focused on Rebecca being held captive in an 800 lbs cannibal's home, who Rebecca linked to several cases of missing anorexic girls. It was Rebecca's personal project. Don't get me wrong, I loved this episode. Ronald Ewing was incredibly creepy, putting Rebecca in a cage with a dog shock collar around her neck. It also showed some insight about Rebecca's *real* character and how lonely she is. It was never really explained if she actually believed Ronald Ewing's fake accounts or if she was just playing along in order to catch the unsub. The ending scenes where we see a dirty, bruised Rebecca walking tiredly out of the house while the team draws their guns showed just how strong Rebecca was! She is one of the most brave, independent female characters of crime drama.

The *final* scene was symbolic - the team going to Rebecca's home and giving her a plant...it was like she had finally found a family in the team.

I can't believe Fox cancelled this excellent series for reality show crap like So You Think You Can Dance.

Shark
Avg Score: 8.90    Total Ratings: 1894    Total Reviews: 69
Shark, while a good - not great - show, boasts an excellent, seasoned actor (James Woods) as the snarky, sarcastic lead character, Sebastian Stark. If not for him, this show probably would have been canceled or at least not have generated ratings as great as ones it has. Take away James Woods and Shark is your average law drama. There is nothing about the series which makes it different from all lawyer shows out there as a whole. James Woods is the only standout.

The cases are dull and so are the characters other than Stark - the female ADA who takes none of Stark's crap, the cute smart blonde fresh out of law school and her boy toy prosecutor, and the token African-Americans. Sound familiar? Yeah...it IS pretty much like a lawyer version of House. Oh well, everything is a rip-off of anything successful these days. Stark is as sarcastic and witty as House, making sexual comments (although not as extreme as House) to his attractive boss. The only *real* difference is that Stark actually cares - he cares about the victims and bring them to justice and I'm thinking that his daughter is mostly to blame for that. The one thing I particularly like is that it focuses on character development rather than just the cases. We see a lot of Stark's home life and how much he cares about his daughter, the relationships between Madeline and Casey and Raina and Isaac.

Shark *is* a good show, but it's just average. It's like all the other law dramas out there.
