Finally got some new games...

Well, my "gaming drought" can be considered over I guess. I got two new games yesterday!!! Well, they arent particularly new... but new enough. I bought Resistance: Fall of Man, which I've owned before. I beat the game, and obviously I'm a fan of it... but I needed the money. I'm currently at the Cathedral right now. I really forgot how fun that game can be. The last time I played it before I sold it I almost felt "meh" about it, I guess because I was on a COD4 high, but man... I'm having a blast. I wanted to replay the game before the new one comes out.

The other game I got was.... CONDEMNED 2: BLOODSHOT!!! I've wanted this game ever since it released, but for some reason never got around to buying it. I got it new at a Gamestop for 20 bucks. It was the only PS3 version left, and I went home to search it on Gamestop and on Walmart.com to see if everyone was selling it that cheap... but heck, there wasnt even Condemned 2 available to be purchased on Gamestop's website! And it's selling at Wal-Mart for 40 bucks, so I got a good deal. I did buy it at a sacrifice though... I traded in Halo 3 to get it. But, they gave me 23 dollars for it! I couldnt believe it. It might still be a rip considering it retails for 60, but geesh, the game is almost a year old. I was expecting 15 bucks.
I really wanted to get a scary game in time for Halloween. It might sound corny, but it really adds to that Halloween vibe you get each year. I remember playing Dead Rising on Halloween 2006 and it was the best time of year to play it, lol. So yeah, I'm actually going to wait until October 1st to play Condemned. lol.
Retiring the ol' TMNT avatar...
We had some good times, Leo, Don, Raph and Mikie... but much like me putting away your action figures many years ago, it's time I moved on... *tear... sniff*
Why? Because I was referred to "that guy with the TMNT avatar" in a thread. I just didnt like being "known" as that, lol.
Anyway, it's free for anyone to use... I doubt anyone would want to use it after it reeks of CJ3456, but whatever. It'll be in my image folder.

Year of the PS3? In a way... absolutely.
"Year of the PS3" gets thrown around alot by fanboys, and has even been tossed around by the media... But of course, there are the nay sayers. Even though I think most fanboys wrongly imply "Sony dominance" when they say "Year of the PS3"... I would have to agree that this is indeed Sony's year.
Think about it...
2008:
Blu Ray wins the format war
Some devs switch to PS3 as lead platform, multiplats shape up
Lower price
Revamped PS Store
Downloadable Movie Store
In-Game XMB (how did we play on the PS3 without it?!?)
Trophys (although lackluster at the moment)
Finally, a "10" - MGS4 (I really love that game, even if MGO sucks)
PS3 starts to outsell the 360
DualShock 3 returns (rumble isnt so last gen anymore, eh Sony?)
Fall line up looks promising
I dont think any of that is too shabby myself. Granted, it's not the Sony dominance fanboys claim when screaming "Year of teh PS3!!!" in System Wars... it is certainly a few steps up from Sony's less than impressive 2007. Things have really turned around alot for the PS3 this year, and the momentum started with the Blu Ray victory. It was like Sony finally got their heads out of the clouds, and started treating the PS3 like a game console. Sure, I still have my beefs with Sony not trying hard enough for 3rd party support... but I think the PS3 is looking pretty sharp.
So yes, in an indirect way - 2008 is the PS3's year. It's the redemption Sony needed. Home may have gotten delayed, as well as Killzone 2... but like it or not, the PS3 finally found it's footing in 2008.
Welp, Gears 2... maybe next year.

Well, I've decided that Gear 2 will be the last priority on my "must have" games for this fall. Between SOCOM, RFOM 2, and LBP... I'm going to be spending $160 on those games alone. While I'm sure Gears 2 will have an amazing campaign... the best part of the game will no doubt be the online multiplayer. Well, I dont have a gold membership at the moment, and between spending so much on the other games, I cant afford to shell out $60 to buy Gears 2 and then spend another $50 just to play it online. (After all, I will still be buying Christmas presents for other people ya know!!!)
I know what you're thinking, "But CJ, Gears of War is in your top 3 favorite games of this gen... how can you pass up the sequel on Emergence day???" Here's why...
Resistance 2 is looking freaking amazing, and I loved the first one. Factor in free 60 player online multiplayer and Insomniac's inability to under deliver, and I'm sold.
SOCOM: Confrontation will probably be where my thirst of online games will be quenched for a long time. SOCOM 2 was one of my favorite online games last gen, and I've been waiting for this one to come out. Granted the game doesnt have a single player, it will retail for $40 bucks, or $60 if you want the headset. I will be springing for the $40 version without the headset. I never did play the SOCOM campaigns on the PS2 to be honest, so I wont be missing a campaign too much.
LittleBigPlanet... man... where do I start? You already know about this game, you know what it looks like... it's going to be a blast. Infinite replayability with new user created levels... heck, I plan on making a Gears of War themed LBP with Marcus, Dom, Baird, and the Cole Train himself! Maybe that will gimmie the Gears of War fix that I will need.
So - until next year, Gears 2. Someone keep a seat warm for me on the multiplayer. ![]()
Blog post #50!!!
So yeah, this is blog post number 50! I am officially a loser, huh?
Having a blog is a cool deal, because you can vent about so many things. I look back on some of my first blogs and they are incredibly boring, huge walls of text, haha. My blogs still arent overly exciting... but I appreciate all the people who leave comments. With System Wars becoming incredibly predictable, reading your blogs and posting in mine has definitly kept me coming back to this site. So, thanks for coming to this blog, and reading all my boring words.
Oh, and Insomniac is letting us help choose what cover to use for the special edition of Resistance Fall of Man 2... you can vote here. I prefer cover #3 myself. Go vote!
