MacGyver The Stringer Avg Score: 9.24 Total Ratings: 36 Total Reviews: 3 |
I don't know why this website list this episode as being the penultimate episode, cause it was the last MacGyver episode (a Richard Dean Anderson address at the end proves it).
It may not be the best adventure on this shows run, still it hooks up Mac with his son who's a photojournalist (a stringer). Nevertheless it's a very good episode that mixes well their "mission" with part of their past. Great to see the chemestry between the two. Like Pete says "he's a chip from the old block". But just the last few minutes of the show makes it great, Mac leaves with his son on a motorcycle and bids farewell to his long time boss and best friend Pete Thornton, an emotionnaly charged scene, to say the least, well acted. I'm really happy to see this series end on such a good note and to see a real ending, sometimes series get cancelled and they don't even get a chance to end it like it should, but they truly did a great job.
Thanks MacGyver for all the great memories that I was able to live back on DVD!!

MacGyver The Coltons Avg Score: 6.80 Total Ratings: 20 Total Reviews: 2 |
I really enjoyed this episode. I don't care if a lot of people didn't like it, I thought it stood it's ground very well. After seeing the Coltons in numerous MacGyver episodes, it's nice to finally see them on their own. I agree that it probably wouldn't be a great series (this episode was the pilot of a new series) but it was a great way to conclude the Coltons story. Mama Colton beautifully played by Della Reese is so endearing, and the three brother are as good. It really made a great episode with a lot of rhythm and action. Again a great way to conclude their tenure in this series.

Once again this series impresses me more and more. This time MacGyver is captured and ends up saving the life of this man, who at the end saves Mac's life in return. These two characters are the central pivot of the episode and it works really well because the two actors are doing a great job.
The story is fantastic, the characters are well developped and the actors are great (especially the man playing Victor, and as usual R.D. Anderson and D. Elcar). The musical score on this episode is probably one of the best of the entire series. The photography is also without flaws. A wonderful episode that certainly ranks in the top 10 of this great series.

This is a very special episode for me having lost my father when I was 8. MacGyver near death experience makes him travel to the other side with his grandpa Harry who suffered a stroke. The "death" is represented by a ship where dead people live. MacGyver finds out his parents, whom he haven't seen in a long time, are aboard and he wants to go in to see them (even if that means never go back). Harry knows and tells MacGyver that once the three horns are blown there's no coming back to life! Mac decides to go in because he feels his time has come. When he meets his parents the emotion is at it's highest, but Harry tells Mac that if he chooses to die and stay on the ship it will have consequences on the people still alive. So Mac learns that if he stays, his boss but also his best friend Pete will be killed. He then decides to go back (not without pitfalls), but Harry stays on the ship because his time has come and Mac makes peace with him and "saves" Pete's life.
A great image of how your life can be after you die, it's the author perception and it's a great one filled with love and of course family!! A great finish to season 5.

MacGyver Jenny's Chance Avg Score: 9.77 Total Ratings: 26 Total Reviews: 4 |
This show reminds me of the great Mission: Impossible TV show that aired from 66 to 73. Mac along with Pete and Jack are setting a trap to the bad guy and hope he confess the murder of their friend. Everything is used a la Mission: Impossible, 3 trustable individuals, advance computer technology (they're all exited to show the computer with the capabiliy of 1 go...but that was back in 1990!!), a great set up with a lot of people involved and of course the mask wore by MacGyver. The pace of this episode is great, it's really well written and acted. It was a different episode from the one we're used with Jack Dalton.
