Lost Confirmed Dead Avg Score: 9.41 Total Ratings: 1134 Total Reviews: 79 |
Season three was bumpy, let's admit it. While it ended fantastically, it started in the dumps. "Lost" so far this season (and I know this is only the second episode) has gotten back to the amazing storylines, conspiracies, and plot twists that made this show so good during its first two seasons. I think people will have mixed reactions to this episode because there was a LOT of mythology in it. The introduction of the four new characters was pitch-perfect. It definitely made up for the trainwreck that was Nikki and Paulo last season (although I loved the episode in which they were killed off). I wish we had more than eight episodes this season, although with the writers' strike very likely nearing its end, perhaps we may get a full season. This episode was definitely in the top 5 best.

Battlestar Galactica (2003) Unfinished Business Avg Score: 7.98 Total Ratings: 766 Total Reviews: 85 Users who agree: 7 Users who disagree: 15 |
Nearly every episode of Battlestar Galactica is cleverly-plotted, well-written, and just a great hour of television. Every episode that is -- until this one. A boxing episode? Seriously? What the heck were the writers thinking!? Nobody really cares that Apollo and Starbuck had a little affair, and althought it may be an important detail, it could have been mentioned in maybe five minutes of a particular episode. Almost every time I've seen a flashback in this show, it bores me to death. I hope to God they never make another episode this abysmal, because too many of these kind of episodes and it could ruin one of the best series of all time.

Big Love Avg Score: 8.75 Total Ratings: 1309 Total Reviews: 68 Users who agree: 3 Users who disagree: 1 |
I have never gotten so addicted to an HBO series since "Oz" and back when "Sopranos" was good (this season of "Sopranos" has been abysmal). Who would have thought that a series about polygamy in Utah would actually be good? No, not good -- amazing! The chemistry between Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloe Sevigny, and Ginnifer Goodwin is stunning. Every scene in which they interact with each other is pitch-perfect. They make it really feel like these characters have a strong love for each other (all 4 of them) and you can really feel for these characters and what they are going through. The season finale was beautifully done and I cannot wait until next summer when season two comes out (if HBO cancels it, like they did with the gem "Carnivalé", I'm gonna be angry!).

CSI Way To Go (2) Avg Score: 9.03 Total Ratings: 441 Total Reviews: 89 Users who agree: 6 Users who disagree: 10 |
The cases in this episode were insanely boring. They could easily have knocked it down to one case (and a better one at that). The cases were nothing special (THIS WAS A SEASON FINALE, not just a regular episode). I'm glad they didn't kill of Brass, although it definitely would have made for better drama in the episode and the series as a whole, but the whole situation with Brass and Ellie was handled well. Having said that, the ending (the hyped-up "cliffhanger") was one of the biggest 'shark-jumpings' I've seen in recent years in television. If you didn't watch it yet, don't read this review from here on...
When this show was in it's first year back in 2000/2001, the creative geniuses behind the series remarked that one of the things that distinguishes this series from all the other dramas was that, although their characters had personal lives, they would never delve into them very deeply. They stayed true to their word over the past 6 years, only having a small character backstory here and there (and it made the show great). Then in the final moments of this episode, they made the biggest mistake they could. Grissom and Sara together in their pajamas (we are to assume they are now sleeping together). I know the writers seem to think there are so many fans that want these two to end up together, but it's just not right for the show. I have been a dedicated fan to this series for 6 years, I've seen every episode since the first broadcast on Friday, October 6, 2000... Now, I may not be so dedicated next year. I'm very disappointed in the end of this season, I think CSI may be headed into that downard spiral towards being on the air to long and needing to wrap it up with a series finale. It's a sad day for the real fans of CSI.

Family Guy Avg Score: 9.17 Total Ratings: 27792 Total Reviews: 2446 Users who disagree: 2 |
Family Guy used to be my favorite animated sit-com. Sadly, South Park has now sky rocketed above it because it has gone way downhill. The jokes are all the same: "Just like the time this happened..." and they fail to deliver laughs anymore (with a few good ones every now and then). However, I think when the show came back, the writers simply lost thier footing, they forgot how good they could be without over-reaching and trying to 'shock' people. Yes, it's a show that pushes boundaries, but that seems to be all they are trying to do now. Maybe it is just an off-season for the writers and they will be back to doing great things by the time next season kicks off. I hope they do or I may discontinue even watching it.
