Another wasted weekend...

Hi, How is everyone at tv.com?

Life is never simple is it.... I was looking forward to spending some quality time on this site over the last week - I had some reviews and submissions that I wanted to write, as well as spending more time on the forum, but I never have seemed to have got round to it.

My granparents came over to stay for a long weekend, which is nice, but does take up alot of time. I have also purchased a new car, so I have been running around trying to get tax, insurance and all other things needed so that I can finally have a social life again, instead of spendinmg all my time in bus queues, which in this freezing weather is not at all pleasent!! To top of my week of frustration, my boss has decided to move the sales and marketing offices around, so all spare time that I didn't have, has gone to rearranging furniture.... some things are just not meant to be!

So what to report.... well, to be honest, nothing. I have not managed to write a single review, a single submission or even a post. Infact, writting this blog is the first time since last week that I have managed to spend more than 10 minutes on this site. I do however hope to make amends this week - oh yes, I have plans

I took delivery on saturday of the X-Files complete DVD collection. I did decide to take the plunge after all... I am now trying to work out when, and if I'll have time to watch it! What are your favorite DVD's that you own, or do you prefere to watch films and TV series "live".

Well, that's about it from me I'm afraid. I hope you all had a great weekend (what did you get up too), and hopefully I will see alot more of you this week.

Cheers for stopping bye, draskers

Hello, Level updates and DVD temptations....

Hello everbody, how are you all?

Things are going OK "ish" for me... I have had a nice couple of days writing show reviews and posting in the forum (I made my 100th post yesterday ) I am still on level 6 and 84% which is the same as I was on Monday night - I am not sure whether the site didn't update me or whether I haven't contributed enough the last couple of days. O well, let's see what happens with tonights update before moaning too much! I also see they have fixed the "edit profile" pop up page, which is great becasue I am now classed as a male again which is cool.

I have been trying to decide if I should spend some of my cash this week on a new X-files box set which has been released in the UK. It looks pretty good because it has every episode in it and loads of extras. The only thing missing is the film that they did. I am tempted to buy it as I don't have any X-files DVD's and I have never seen all the episodes - especially in the correct order... the thing that's giving me second thoughts is the price. It costs £140 which I think is about $245 - and it's close to Christmas What would you do... Is it worth it???

Other than that, there hasn't been much going on to report about I'm afraid. I suppose I could say the weather is freezing and I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet, but then I would feel like I'm waffling on about nothing, so I'll leave it here

Hope everbody is well and happy, and I will see you again in a day or so. Bye

Lazy weekends...

How is everyone, I trust you have all had a nice relaxing weekend and are now looking forward to returning to work / school !!!

I have had a good one... I did not have to go out anywhere so have managed to watch some DVD's and TV... it's nice to watch "Out Of Africa" followed by Tru Calling and a bit of Millennium, it adds a bit a variety to the day

I have not been on the site much this weekend, as I was not sure whether it would be updated or not, but this gave me time to make a banner (what do you think?). I have also added a personal picture of my pet Retriever who's nicknames "Snot"!

The other good news is that I have now had my first 2 submissions accepted and that has elevated me to level 6

Other than that, there's not much to report I'm afraid, as I say, it was just a nice lazy weekend which I really enjoyed.

Well, that's all from me at the moment... better get back to work and try and make a living!! Bye

"What a difference a day makes"

Hi, how is everyone... sorry I haven't posted alot these last few days but I have been busy sorting out cars, and other time consuming things

I am pleased to say that I have taken the plunge and ordered a new "reliable" car, which should arrive at the beginning of next week, but even more importantly than that. . . I have finally reached level 5 (stops to savour the moment!)

I am looking forward to this weekend, as I have not got anything to do... I dont't have to work, I don't have to go out (other than to walk my dog) and I don't have any chores to do either, which means that I have a nice pleasent couple of days where I can catch up on my DVD viewing, and I cannot wait.

I am not sure about you guys, but do you bother writing reviews and submissions at the weekend - I ask because last weekend when I wrote loads of stuff, they never updated the levels, so I never got any credit for them. I am not sure whether this happens often or not, but it was annoying.

Anyway, i'm going to leave you in peace for a while - I feel like i'm on a roll, and make even make level 6 today, so i'm busy writting my reviews.

Hope everybody has a great weekend, and see you next week. Bye.

Short but Sweet - a quick update.

Well, just a short one today as I am so tired - I have been trying to sort out my car, after it failed it's MOT. I have pretty much convinced myself that I need a new one.. it's now working out how I can afford it!!!

As for this site, I have written a few episode reviews today, and submitted an epsiode recap for the first time - I will have to see if that developes into anything.

I do not seem to be progressing very far at the moment, as you can see I am still stuck on level 4, and that elusive next level seems so far away!

I am well impressed with all the comments that where left after my last blog - sorry I couldn't reply to you all, I wanted to, but as you can imagine, time has been severly lacking in my life at the moment. I will take the time now though to say "Hi everyone, and cheers for the comments".

Well, I think that's all I've done since last time... hopefully when I get my car sorted, and get home from work on time (yes, those buses are still awful) I will be able to spend a bit of time on the site getting to know you guys better, which will be cool.

Until then however, I bid you farewell for today.. thanks for stopping by and hopefully the next time I see you, I will be that magic "level 5!"

This show follows the staff at Community General Hospital, led by Dr Mark Sloan, attempt to solve a who-dunnit murder mystery. With the help of the police, and more specifically his son, Detective Steve Sloan, the pair manage to track down all suspects and using the clues left at the scene, apprehend the culprit.

In the UK this show is classed as a daytime drama, which often means it's not popular enough for evening viewing. I would tend to disagree - this show always provides compulsive viewing. The plots are often a little far fetched, and the guilty person is always going to be caught by the end of the show, but the way the show guides the viewer through the investigation is just so entertaining. The great characters, and light hearted approach to the script just adds to the shows endearing appeal.

This is a good all round show - it won't provide you with lots of plot twists like CSI, nor will it provide great action like 24, but this show does offer you a chance to sit back and relax, while watching a thoroughly addictive show...... and I've not even mentioned Dick Van Dyke as the lead role yet!!!

8.5 Great
Spooks
Avg Score: 8.99    Total Ratings: 919    Total Reviews: 36
Spooks is a cleverly written show that follows a team of MI5 spies and there various assignments to try and either stop terrorist attacks, or to infultrate certain organisations.

The acting in this series is fantastic, and I love the fast pace and action scenes the show generates. I think "most" of the storyines are believable which adds to the tension of the show.

I do however feel that some of the same plots have been recycled from series to series and used again - for example there have been two "lock-downs" in two consecutive series where the team are unable to leave their office, and have to try and work a situation from within the walls. I think that adding more fresh ideas and staying away from repeats would add greatly to the show.

In all though, not a bad show at all - it's easy to watch and good entertainment... it just could be so much better.

9.0 Superb
The X-Files
Avg Score: 9.06    Total Ratings: 7973    Total Reviews: 343
The X-files follows Mulder and Scully (and later on Doggett), try and make sense of the wierd and paranormal world. As they try to do this, they came across many interseting and very diverse cases which they try and solve, but that always lead to more questions than answer.... but remember, "the truth is out there".

This show is incredible... the acting is great, and the locations and even most of the special effects are awesome, but the two things that will blow you away are firstly the incredible twisting storyline and secondly the amount of action.

I have never seen a show (other than Buffy) that has kept me so riveted throughout so many seasons. Surely this is the sign of a a true masterpiece.

Final word - the X-files is amazing - watch it.

Cold Case

Cold case in a fantastic TV series that follows detective Lilly Rush attempt to solve murders that where comitted along time ago - the cases where unsolved at the time, and have now been classed as a cold. Lilly must track down any surviving witnesses and gather new evidence to try and bring justice to the victim and their families.

This program is just so enjoyable to watch, the acting is first rate and the plots are always interesting and diverse. The format of the show, where you go back in time to see the victims and suspects as they where at the time, is a really clever concept and a nice touch.

This is such a great show, I really do love it, you must watch an epsiode to fully appreciate just how wonderful it is, and like me, you will love it as well - I promise!

7.0 Good
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Bad Eggs
Avg Score: 7.77    Total Ratings: 495    Total Reviews: 18
Students of Sunnydale are learning what it's like to be a parent by looking after a small egg for the week. Unfortunatly the eggs "grow up" quicker than anyone expected, and soon start to control their owners causing havoc and destruction along the way!

This episode is not the greatest of the second season, however it does have a clever storyline with a clear moral. The dialog is full of great quotes and the action comes thick and fast.

The concept of the episode is a little far fetched, and I personally didn't think the ending was that strong, but it did add to the whole series with a different approach and style.

A good all round episode that will keep you entertained.

About Me

draskers
Thanks for stopping by my profile; Just to fill you in, I'm a 26 year old male that lives near Birmingham, UK and I spend over 75% of my evenings and weekends either on the web or watching DVD's. I prefer to watch TV series opposed to films as I think the depth of characters and plots are better explored, and with todays high standard of filming, they are often better than most films anyway. Other things that I enjoy in my spare time include motor racing, more specifically F1. I have been to many races around europe and here in the UK, and if I'm not at the race I'll always watch it live on TV - no matter what time of day or night it's on. To relax, I will either listen to rock music (my favorite band are the Manic Street Preachers), or when I want to totally chill out, I'll settle down with a good book. Well, I think that's all you need to know for now, I hope I haven't bored you too much! Please feel free to drop by again sometime soon.
