Snow Daze

People who don't clean off their windshields when it snows should be dragged out into the street and shot/beat down by any able-bodied citizen.

Who's with me!?!?

I Love My 360, and My 360 Loves Me

I've decided that when I don't have anything else to post, I'll occasionally fill the void with an interesting post from my 360's blog.(Yes,the XBOX 360 is capable of writing its own blogs...it's just that smart. Take that PS3/Wii!! ) Here we go...:

Deonaris' 360 wrote:

That is a profit of 10 points over last time! He opened up Prince of Persia, Pac-Man C.E., Carcassonne, Bomberman LIVE picking up 1 achievement, OXM Disc 74, BeautifulKatamari Demo, and then I needed a nap. Don't judge me! It's a lot of work pushing all those pixels. Also, Deonaris and I have played 30 days in a row... If I understand the rules, I think we are getting a streak badge...

24 or 42? Both! (aka Drew's Birthday Blowout Blog)

This blog is a work in-progress...I'll be adding to it over the next few days.

Birthday Blowout

So, my birthday's today. I'm 24...Gawd, I feel old. Well, not really. But it's almost 1/4 of a century! So no "over-the-hill" jokes from anyone.

Saturday was a Quadruple Birthday Bash for me, my Step-sister, her husband, and my grandfather. It was fun, but it gets a little nuts, and it also seems like an excuse to forget when people's birthdays actually are. I raked in some $$$ and got some giftcards to Best Buy and Gamestop. Always appreciated.

On the List of gifts: The Darkness, Reno 911: Season's 3, 4 and Miami. Some Doctor Who novels, a SP book, and some key comics.

And just today, I got an awesome DVD from Blockbuster in the mail(so it seems like a gift, though it's not): The Critic! I loved this show when it was on, and watching just a few episodes makes me want to run out and buy it.

Paris Hilton Should Rot

Ok, the ONLY reason I'm even talking about this is because it happened on my birthday...and that's just not cool. In case you were unaware, Paris Hilton was released from "prison" today. I use quotes because it's notrealprison. It's a powderpuff imitation of what prison is. I know, I've seen OZ. But I think we can all agree that we think of prison, we don't think of her accomodations.

On top of that, she was there for 3 weeks...wow, that must have been rough for her. I'm sure there are people in jail right now wishing they could berelatively isolated and get to see their families privately. I mean, her parents walked right up the line, past all the others who'd been waiting to see their families, the room was cleared out so they could have "alone time"(through glass at that).

On top of THAT, upon leaving, she already had a $300,000 offer to write a book about it, not to mention a $1 Million dollar interview with Larry freakin' King. Oh Larry, why? You run a news show on CNN, there has to be more important things that some spoiled trust-fund babies watered-down prison stay to cover. There has to!!

She says she's changed her ways, she says she plans on building a "Halfway Hilton" for the disadvantaged. Shesays she's leaving her old life behind. I doubt it.

More to come, as per usual, with some World Wide Weird, and Movie Sequels You Weren't Aware Of.

The End of an Era( A Banned Notice)

As some of you already know, ZugZug4 aka Ryan has been banned from the site.  Now, I won't get into the why's and how's mainly because a) I don't know all of them, and b) I'd like this blog to stay up for more than 5 minutes.

Either way, his account has been banned, if you need concrete proof, visit his GameSpot page.  Now, as much as this incredibly, INCREDIBLY sucks.

Let us instead remember all the things Ryan brought to the site, from post parties to midnight munchies, to the countless blogs on the most entertaining of subjects.  Not to mention all the work he did on the site.  Sure he didn't have 500 editorships, but I've always said it's quality over quantity. Give me a good editor or TC with a handful of shows over someone who's spread way too thin any day.

We'll miss ya man..

Movie Sequels You're Not Aware Of.. Vol. 4 & More!

Due to an attempt to create suspense, Movie Sequels will not be first.

Clark & Michael

I can't remember where I heard about Clark & Michael initially, but I do remember when I watched the first episode. 23 Minutes ago, and it was great!  I'm sure many of you are Arrested Development fans. And if you're not...well, we have ways of dealing with you. So, best go out and get some ADonDVD.  Anyway, Michael Cera as George-Michael on the show.  This, however, has nothing to do with that. Just a reference point. The best way to describe Clark & Michael is as follows:

"A mockumentary series focused on two aspiring producers (Cera and Duke) who believe their own hype regarding the big idea for a TV show, but do little in the way of actually making the program."

Thanks IMDB! It really is funny as hell, and I suggest you all watch it, as well as reading their personal profiles. They're quite funny.

Lindsay Lohan...Prison Plaything?

In what can only be described as a bad way to start off the week for Lindsay Lohan, she was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.  Upon searching her car, they found what "they believed to be cocaine".

Hmmm...I wonder if Lindsay and Paris will be cellmates..

More Movie Sequels You Weren't Aware Of...Vol. 4

Freddy & Jason...Again?

Ok, I'm clumping two together for two reasons: 1. There's hardly any info on either. and 2. It's depressing.

There's an Untitled Nightmare on Elm Street Prequel set for 2008, which is basically some guy running around kidnapping, molesting, and killing kids. That should be great. Followed by Untitled Friday the 13th Sequel in 2009...and do we really need another Jason movie? Will it be that much different than Freddy vs. Jason?

Alien vs. Predator 2: More Reasons to Cry at the Movies

I can't even to begin to ask why they're making a sequel to AvP (IMDB).  I mean, if you want Alien vs. Predator action, go get the comics, or even that videogame that came out (which I think they're also making a sequel to) would be a better idea than the following:

"Warring alien and predator races descend on a small town, where unsuspecting residents must band together for any chance of survival."

Starring...no one you know. This one's already in post-production..I-I'm sorry.

It's a Bad Bad Bad Bad BAD Idea!

Yes, that's right, they're making a sequel to the 1963 movie It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, starring some great Actors of the day. Worse yet, they're calling it It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World: The Sequel

I can see it now, all the kids at school will say: "Hey man, hear they're making a sequel to that really old 1963 movie?" That should generate a lotta buzz.

Hope everyone's having a good Memorial Day Weekend!

Saturday Night Live
Jack Black/Neil Young
Avg Score: 8.46    Total Ratings: 59    Total Reviews: 13
From start to finish, this was a great installment on SNL. We've got Jack Black as a host, his opening monologue a song for King Kong that was rejected by Peter Jackson. It's all uphill from there. Appalachian Emergency Room featured great performances from Darrel Hammond and Amy Poehler, as well as guest appearances from both Neil Young(the musical guest) and Johnny Knoxville.

A Sbarro skit where Black plays a father out Christmas shopping, where they stop for pizza, and must sit by the door. Strong gusts keep the laughs flowing.

These are only two highlights from a great, non-stop show. Some breaks in character happened, which always add a few good laughs. Also, Chris Parnell and Andy Samberg had an SNL Digital Short about the Chronic-les of Narnia that will surely become a viral video.

Considering the name of this episode is The One Wherein There Is A Big Twist (2), I think they did quite well. After the plane crashed, the roomies managed to make it back to their house, minus a dead Waldoor and a missing Toot. With Toot stranded on a desert island, and Waldoor missing, the housemates are forced to choose a new roommate. Among those auditioning are Scorpion of Mortal Kombat fame, and Wilma Flintstone.

The group finally decides on Strawberry Sweetcake, a seemingly innocent girl with a huge sweet-tooth. Although not all is as it seems, Waldoor appears, and explains he wasn't dead, but merely napping. Upon seeing Sweetcake, he lunges at her. Because, as everyone knows, the Sweetcakes are responsible for the eradication of the Sockbats.

Aside from all the tension inside the house, Toot is being worshipped as a whale god by island natives, they continually offer her sacrifices, even though they're running low on food.

The episode wraps up nicely, and everything is about as normal to be expected in the Drawn Together house. I think this episode was wonderful, it was as if the show had never left, which is probably the highest praise available for any show.

What a great premise, a man who's done nothing good with his life suddenly learns about the notion of karma, and attempts to turn his life around. The episode flowed very well, it had the possibility of feeling chopped up, but such wasn't the case.

Ethan Suplee does a great job as Earl's brother Randy. And the amount of beer's needed for certain tasks is a great character quirk. I also enjoyed that they just picked up the maid along the way to join in the karmic escapades.

As for the plot of this episode, it couldn't be executed any better. It took the long held stereotypes such as "I'd never met a gay before" and managed to charmingly turn it around and have Earl accept Kenny and even take him out to a gay bar, which had to be the highlight of the episode. That and Randy's 15 beers-later dance-fest at the club.

1986...what a year...(I promise this is the only time I will use this bad, bad joke).

It's interesting how this episode was done. I hope it fits the trend, at least through the beginning of the series. Once there's more of a sense of what happened then, they can start doing more in the future.

I also enjoy the concept that the mystery of the murder is not the only mystery to be solved. It's virtually unknown what/who the six friends have become. Which furthers the plot.

The exchanges between Aaron and Carla during the episode were a bit of comic relief to the tense situations caused by Craig and the accident, as well as Sam's pregnancy.

It's also nice to watch an episode of a show, and be surprised by the outcomes. Many of their lives radically changed and it's only going to get more turbulent.

Definitely worth taking a look at.

It took renting the first season from Blockbuster to remind me how great a show this is. Every other line is a joke involving a communication barrier, which surprisingly doesn't get old.

The tackle issues like everyday life and interaction as well as socio-political aspects as well. Such as when they learn about lying, and Sally says "What if lying falls into the hands of politicians?" and Harry replies "That's a scary thought."

The writing is superb, and the cast is amazing, putting John Lithgow and Jane Curtin together may have been one of the greatest comedy team-ups in recent history.

About Me

drewshack
Too much work, not enough TV. =) I enjoy a virtual gammet of shows, from Lost, Smallville, and Prison Break, to older shows such as Eerie, Indiana and NewsRadio. My number 1 show would have to be South Park. I also like other animated series like Frisky Dingo, American Dad and Drawn Together. I'm a DVR-aholic, in that I like to have many of my favorite shows stored till I can get them on DVD. Mostly just the important episodes, unless it's a half-hour show like South Park.

Friends' Videos
