I'm legally a genius. IQ: 140. Huzzah.

A Big Surprise?

I went through the entire E3 experience without talking about it to a single person who cared. Is that really a good thing? No. So, I thought I'd make a blog with my impressions, just like every single blogger did last week. >_>

360. I have one, and I'm glad I do. Microsoft's conference had a lot of what many people were looking for at E3; good games. There were so many good games that I couldn't even keep track of them all. One game that has potential is called "The Wheelman", and it shares the name with a movie coming out around the same time as the game. However, it doesn't look like a typical movie-game-tie-in. Aside from underlooked games, there was, of course, Gears 2, Fallout 3, GH World Tour, Rock Band 2, and the Halo game that Microsoft cut out of their Conference for time concerns. Oh, and yeah, Final Fantasy 13. Let me list some games and my opinion of them, it'll be cleaner than a whole big paragraph that way.

  • Gears of War 2: I wasn't a big fan of the first game, but I would at least like to try out the sequel.
  • Fallout 3: I've never played a Fallout game before, but after the showing at the press conference and on X-Play later that night, I'm likely to by it, especially because of the "bloody mess" perk.
  • Lips: I CAN sing, but I don't necessarily do so in front of people. If I do find myself needing a party-compatible game, I might try it.
  • Final Fantasy XIII: I've never been big into RPG games, but with the well-known franchise, how could I fail? I mean, I enjoyed the demos for Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata. That counts for something, right?
  • Fable 2: Pretty much my same opinion as what I feel for FF 13.
  • Soul Caliber IV: I LOVE Soul Caliber. It is the ONLY fighting game I'll play (we'll see about that when Mortal Kombat and DC combine...). I had the 2nd until I traded it in to Gamestop to get The Orange Box, and I can't wait for the 4th.
  • Halo Wars: The only RTS's I've ever enjoyed have been made by Lionhead Studios (i.e: The Movies, Black and White...), so I'm kind of uninterested in Halo Wars. I like the franchise as a whole, but this one in particular probably won't get me to pre-order it.
  • Guitar Hero World Tour: HELL YES. I am getting this, no matter what. Creating your own songs? I've already got masterpieces in my mind. I don't know about getting the drum set, though. I like how it has the cymbals raised like the should be, but I'd rather have the Special Edition ION set for the pricier version of Rock Band 2. That one has ecellent pads, multiple cymbals, and it was pegged as the best option for "true afficionados" by OXM, and since I'm a drummer and gamer, I have to get it. Oh, and it can be used as a real Midi-type electronic drum set that you can hook up to your computer. Me and my friend have been talking about me joining his band, so if I do, it'll be perfect.
  • SW: The Force Unleashed: It brings some thoughts of Xbox games utilizing Pshycokenisis as the main tool. I liked those, and I like lightsabers, but I don't like Star Wars. That's right, I said it. Hopefully, they benefits will outweigh the story, but I'll have to find that out when it's released.
  • Resident Evil 5: Sure. Aside from the Gamecube version of the 4th, which I played at Gamestop, I've never played any of the games. /but, it looks good.
  • Mercenaries 2: I'd love to get this. I enjoyed the first, and the sequel looks just as good.
  • Mirror's Edge: I love Parkour, and if I could do it, I'd love it even more. The whole idea of using your feet instead of weapons to get through enemies to your goal sounds like a lot of fun. I like other games with free-running in them (Assassin's Creed), so why shouldn't I like this?
  • Saints Row 2: Liked the first, I'll like the 2nd.
  • Left 4 Dead: One of my favorite parts of Half-Life 2 is the Ravenholm level with all the zombies, so a whole game like that level (minus the Grav Gun) should be very enjoyable. I like the co-op feature, and there's been promise of a damn-near-impossible difficulty setting, and that should be a fun challenge.
  • Far Cry 2: It looks so beautiful, how could you not want it?
  • Dead Space: Cool. Scary game, outer space. Awesome.
  • Ghostbusters: I like the physics engine, and I like the Movies, but I'm just not quite sure about this one...
  • Quantum of Solace: No thanks. At least, not yet. I don't really like Bond movies or games, aside from the unbelievably fun Goldeneye 64. If I want gadgets and stealth, I'll head on over to Splinter Cell.

There are so many more that I would like to talk about, but I think that would get boring after a while.

PS3. I do not have one, but if I had enough money, it would be my 2nd next-gen console. There are some games that I know would blow me away if I had them, and there are some coming up that I might buy a PS3 because of them. Here is another list of games with my opinions of them.

  • God of War 3: I like the ultra-violence of it, but it's not the type of game that would sell a console to me. I'd probably not even be able to get it.
  • Killzone 2: It was originally called the Halo-killer, and with Halo 3 being a little less than what was expected, Killzone 2 might finally live up to its name. It has a look that's better than anything else, thanks to the PS3's processor. I'd like to get it.
  • LittleBigPlanet: I love this game! If you can make a presentation for Sony interesting, you can make anything possible. If I ever do get a console, this is one of the games I absolutely can't miss.
  • inFAMOUS: Sucker Punch is a good developer, but can a game that is completely different from what they're used to making still be good? I say yes. I'd enjoy trying out all the electric-based powersThis is another game that I'd like to get.
  • Heavy Rain: The facial features shown off in the trailers are so in-depth that I don't really even care what the game is all about, as long as I can marvel at how realistic the faces look.
  • Legendary: The main character seems kind of like the protagonist in inFAMOUS, but with different enemies and powers. I'd rather get this game than inFAMOUS, but it can't hurt to get both and compare them.
  • The Agency: I REALLY like the concept here. An MMOFPS? Count me in! I don't know exactly what the point is for you to do, but if it's anything like the little-played game "The Ship", I bet it'll be fun.
  • Damnation: Sure. It's an FPS. With a Priest. I guess it'll be good...
  • MAG: I love online multiplayer games, and the more the merrier. So, how merry is a single game of 256 people? Pretty damn merry.

One other game that got barely any attention, but looks fantastic is "They". Developed by a German company, you can kill unknown enemies, and you use an all-in-one gun to do it. It's a shotgun, machine gun, assualt rifle, and rocket launcher in one package. Even better, you can choose the coloer of your gun, and even put a logo on it.

Wii. The Nintendo Press Conference was, well, bad. This comic pretty much hits the nail right on the head. It's got some "inappropriate language", though. I almost got a Wii once, and I'm glad that I didn't end up getting it. How? Here's how.

Around November, when a new shipment of Wii consoles was coming to my local Best Buy, there was a line forming to pick them up. My Mom still hadn't gotten a "big" present for that year's Christmas, and she thought that since I was a gamer, I'd like one. Wrong. So, she stood in line for a few hours to buy me one. Eventually, she got to the head of the line, paid $200, and walked away feeling that "Christmas shopping is now over" feeling. A few days later, she started asking me about the Wii. Some questions like "What good games are there for it?", "Is there an online service for it?", and finally"Did you want one?". That last question really stood out at me, and when I said no, I instantly saw her facial expression change, and then I knew exactly why she was asking me questions. So, I said nothing after that, and walked downstairs. The next day, she returned the Wii and got me a Flip camera, which I unwrapped at Christmas.

So, here are some Wii games that I might find bearable.

  • Dead Rising: Yep, zombie slaying on Wii. I liked the 360 version, and I guess that using the Wiimote to kill might be fun.
  • Wii Music: I'm just a sucker for music games. There is no doubt that I would instantly try out the drum set, but seeing how glitchy it was in the conference, I'm not sure. If my cousin gets it, I'll probably still play it.
  • Samba de Amigo: I love the original concept, and using the Wiimote would add some more enjoyment to it.

Yep, only 3 truly caught my interest this year.

Aside from games, now. My beard is gone. I shaved it ALL last night. It was about 3 inches long, now there's none of it left. Just thought I'd add that.

I'm thinking about changing my gamertag. I have come to love East East East, but it's been mocked a lot, and something more forceful or intimidating online might be better. Here are some of my possible names:

  • Chuckles The Clown
  • xEASTEASTx
  • o BEASTLYxEAST o
  • East East
  • SW easteast
  • Mr Hamburgler
  • Major McCheese
  • Lord Drummington
  • Cake In The Rain

The reason I can't just do easteast is because somebody took that name and tried to make it look like it was me. Imitation is the best form of flattery, though...

I took some pictures recently that would go well with some older ones I'd like to show, so if I ever find the USB cable that goes with my camera, I'll show you all.

I am now done with Assassin's Creed, and after getting most of the achievements, I got 835 points from it. Not bad, seeing as the only other achievements were for collecting all the flags, and for getting 50 combo kills, which are really hard to accomplish in battle.

I have now reached and exceeded my goal of getting to a gamerscore of 10K by the end of this summer, so I might get back to recording gameplay for my CoD4 montage. It'll take a while, but after it's all done, it'll be worth it. I need to clear up space on my hard drive, so cutting out the clips I like and deleting everything else will clear up a lot.

I just spent 2 hours writing this blog, so try to read at least most of it.

Another Disappointment

Well, that's another possible 1000/1000 gone unfulfilled. The Simpsons Game will soon be sent back to Gamefly after 620 points were achieved from it. I almost got another 250 from it, but then just 1 single Duff bottle cap kept me from that. After 30 full minutes dedicated to trying to get it, I finally gave up. At least it's better to have only 62% of it complete than to have an aneurysm, right?

So, with a total gamerscore just 5 points away from 10K, I shall now move on to Assassin's Creed. After that, I will receive either Guitar Hero Aerosmith or Avatar. Either way, it's all good. I'm just lucky that the thunderstorm today didn't fry my power, but I came close, judging by the giant tree branch cracked off of the tree 5 feet from our house. I took some pictures, and might put them up with old pics as well, maybe in my next blog.

If only I could UNsee things...

Wow. After a long night of digging much deeper than I should've on teh interwebz, I've lost all faith in the future of the human race. It's not just stupidity that I'm talking about, I'm talking about shock sites.

I'm definitely no stranger to the whole phenomena, but some things I've uncovered lately...just disgust me more than others I've known for a while. For example, a video of a woman plucking out her own eye and eating it. Yep. It was actually real. I'll speak no more of it. A VIDEO version of the infamous Tubgirl Once again, no more details.

Now, I'll go into a little history. The first shocking image I ever saw was probably either Goatse Tubgirl highballer, or a crime scene with a disembodied head on a spike on a fence, with the body flat on the ground. Back when I played CS:S religously, I saw many sprays that would be considered shocking. I was maybe 10 or 11 when I saw my first few, and I still have yet to be thoroughly disgusted by a picture or video. I don't necessarily like going to these types of sites, but if I'm bored and run out of gaming videos to watch, I might just look up something unpleasent.

Some new places I saw today were pretty daggone bad. The front page of a user-uploaded video shock sites featured a video with a guy naked, covered in barbed wire. I never made it past that first page. Oh, and I was looking for funny and amazing galleries on eBaumsworld last week, and one set of pictures showed various images from popular e-mails telling whether they were real or fake. One such picture was a picture used in the pain series called "wormeye". Pictures from a surgery where the goal was to remove a live worm from a patient's eye. It was one of the real pictures.

If you ever want to learn about shock sites in the U.S, this website lists and descripts tons of them. It is free from any NSFW-type imagery and videos, and the worst thing on there is just an ASCII version of Goatse Also, if you have a list with descriptions or something of the sort for ASIAN shcok sites, I will thank you. I've heard that they are about 10x as bad as the things we're used to in the States. I can believe that, I mean, just look at Korean, Japanese, and Chinese horror movies! Also, I've heard rumors about the BME Pain Olympics (a.k.a Hatchet vs. Genitals) video being fake, and also that the guy did it because of heroine. Can anyone confirm or deny these?

And to end this super happy blog, I might be getting a Japanese 360 so I can play far-eastern games in their original languages. And if you can get achievements for an English AND a Japanese version, it makes it even more worth the purchase. I don't know if you can, though. Can you? For instance, I have 1000/1000 points for the English version of Fuzion Frenzy 2. If I got the Japanese version on a console from overseas and got 1000/1000 still using my East East East account, would I get 2000 points, or would it only accept achievements from one region-specific version of the game? Any help will be accepted.

Never Again...

...will I think about Flatout. I absolutely hate that game. Well, I like the PC versions with NO ACHIEVEMENTS, but the 360 version is absolute crap. And yes, I am saying that mostly because I'm super pissed about getting only 130 points out of it before completely losing my mind, nearly snapping the disc in half, but realizing that I couldn't get another game from Gamefly if I did that. So, I sent it back.

It was really just one thing that was making me insane. One achievement says that you'll get 60 points for winning 8 Cups with Gold medals driving with only an unupgraded Chili, the worst car in the whole game. I completed 2 cups. On the first race of the 3rd, there is ALWAYS one little bastard who won't give up the m************ first spot.

Also, I have a blasting headache from a combination of the game and the unwanted roofwork being done as this is being typed. Every house in our townhouse area is having it done because no one except for the property owner wants it to happen. The old shingles were perfectly fine, but I guess...not? Anyway, they gave everyone a 1-day notice to take everything off your shelves or anything else that could fall during the work. We did that. Stuff still has fallen. For example, when I was in the bathroom, I could see little pieces of the ceiling falling into my pants around my ankles. That scared the pee out of me. As soon as I got out of there, I saw that the glass casing-type-stuff around the lightbulb in our hallway had fallen off. Luckily, no glass has broken yet.

On the upside of today, I got The Simpsons Game from Gamefly. It seems like the achievements are simple, but after Flatout (which was given a 6/10 difficulty for a 1000 out of 1000 on achieve360points.com), I can't trust my instincts anymore. Oh, and I also got some good Beautiful Katamari points in yesterday. Now, all that's left is to get 100% of the collection (I'm at 98%), complete 200 requests, play for 50 hours, and play for 100 hours. After that, I'll have my first 1250/1250 game. Cooool...

A Trip Down Memory Lane...

A blog title. Sometimes, it can be overplayed to the point of low expectations for what is to come once you actually read it. This one is better. Hopefully.

It's summer. I have no school and can wake up anytime I want, which became obvious when I woke up at 1:55 in the afternoon yesterday. However, I would much rather wake up around 7:00 in the morning because of what it would bring. I didn't know until Wednesday that G4 was airing its best shows ever at 8:00 everyday now. They are in a segment of the morning called "G4 Rewind" or "Replay" or whatever. I used to watch G4 for hours every day, but then it had to move channels so I could only watch it downstairs, the shows became boring, and I became underwhelmed. Well, now I can at least enjoy a couple hours worth of good programming.

For instance, on Wednesday I watched an old episode of Cheat featuring Shadow of the Colossus tips, and I remembered years ago watching that episode on its premiere night. 30 minutes later, the original machinima show came on: Portal. HELLZ YEAH. I used to watch it before there was any mention of a creative game with the same title. Sure, the quality isn't exactly perfect, but that isn't what's important. It brings me back, and I've said before that if I can have all my past memories at least experienced once this summer, I'll be happy. I'm off to a good start with this.

Aside from old shows, I've got something to decide yet again. Should I keep GTA for $40, or keep it pretty much the whole 3-month break in order to get 100% completion? I mean, I love the game and it's really the type of game with enough in it to warrant a purchase, but I don't have $40. I'll find an answer.

And on a final mention, if you'd like a sig or a profile layout made just for you that is made in the way that my blog header, banner and avatar are, I'm going back to taking requests. I might make myself a little something, even. But if you want something, just leave a comment here with a description of what you want or just send me a PM with the details.

X-Play is a great show, but I think it's fallen upon some hard times. It was at a terrific time before, and then G4 came and just HAD to add some stupid Star Trek shows to replace that perfect time slot. Why would they do that? It's just plain stupid.

Anyway, I like X-Play. The reviews on it are mostly accurate and most of the time, the more harsh reviews are right. Despite "fan" comments, Morgan Webb IS a gamer. I'm on her side. Adam is a veteran, since he was on 2 other shows prior to X-Play, which were then changed to the next show. Here's how it went:

Gamespot TV --> Extended Play ---> X-Play.

In conclusion, X-Play is good enough to get a 9.5.

Arrested Development is such a funny show! It doesn't even need punchlines to make people get the joke. I would go up to the president of FOX and personally beg him to bring the series back to the network.

I own the 2nd season on DVD, and I really want to get the 1st as well. This was a big hit with critics, but apparently, the viewers didn't watch it as much as they should have.

My favorite character on the show is Buster. Or is it Anyong? Anyway, Buster is such an original character. It would take a heart of steel not to love this guy. Jason Bateman is also a very good actor and should move on to even bigger things.
