In the prior episode, Alison kept dreaming about what had happened to Cynthia's daughter, Susie, 10 years ago, but when the other woman (Joanna Wheeler) in that dream turns out to be one of the victims of another kidnapping, in present time, who overpowers the kidnapper and kills him, Cynthia is convinced Allison is confused again. But she's wrong about that, as we discover in this conclusion episode. Allison's first dream reveals that the supposed victim, Joanna, was actually one of the perpetrators of the abduction and murder of Cynthia's daughter, though it takes a few more dreams, one of which leads to finding Susie's remains in a lake, to convince Cynthia that Allison is right about Joanna. When the man who had been Joanna's accomplice calls Cynthia to confess, and then is found dead, both Allison and Cynthia realize her daughter's murderer has eliminated the only evidence/person that could incriminate her.
In the end, what could Cynthia Keener do but take her justice served cold by killing Joanna herself, then calling Allison to come sit on the porch waiting for the police to arrive?
This may well have been the best episode of Medium ever, and I am very sad to see Anjelica Huston end her guest appearances, as far as we know. She has been a fantastic addition to the show, and a superb source of validation for Allison. Huston and Arquette have done great work to make this series much richer, and even more emotionally gripping. I will be stunned if the season finale can top this episode.

Season two has many emotional episodes, and this is no exception. Martha being near death in the hospital is tempered by Jonathan hearing the news that she is pregnant. Still, she gets worse, and Clark is so sick he's unconscious. When Chloe comes to the Kent farm to visit the ailing Clark, she reads him a letter she wrote, so she doesn't have to look at him while telling him her feelings, and her words truly are elegant and heart-rending when she tells the unconscious Clark that she is the girl of his dreams masquerading as his best friend. Clark stirs briefly, and says, "Lana?" which is a stake into Chloe's heart I could feel with a piercing sadness. Jonathan hopes that recovering the key, and putting it in the slot in the spaceship will somehow cure Martha and Clark, and even staggeringly, Clark helps him, and Pete is their getaway decoy. When they let the key float onto the spaceship they've driven near the hospital, moments after Martha is pronounced dead, a blinding light comes out of the spaceship and enters the hospital, curing both Clark and Martha. After she wakes, she admits she was afraid the key would somehow take Clark away from them. Meanwhile during Clark's infirmity, Dr. Bryce managed to take a blood sample from Clark she knows is most peculiar. Of course Lex is more than intrigued and hopes to find out what she learned, but so far, she keeps the secret. At the Torch, Lana finds Chloe's discarded speech to Clark, and tells him later that both Chloe and she were very scared for him, and realized how much they care, even if she isn't as eloquent as others might be. Chloe really is a superior person, full of intelligence and appeal, and I'm sorry that I already know she never "gets her man," because she truly is worthy of a superhero boyfriend, if only Clark could see how great she is. Sure, Lana is the hottest chick in Smallville, but Chloe is my favorite, especially in episodes like this one.

Another intensely emotional episode. Many reviewers have already mentioned salient points, including Clark's leap from the roof of the Daily Planet into a window of Luthor Corp, how Martha actually does a better job of saving Clark than he does of saving her, Lionel's stockpiling of a cart full of green kryptonite bars, the worsening rift between Lionel and Lex as a result of all the espionage they do to each other, the destruction of Lionel's files on Clark. My only question is how did Lionel manage to acquire the spaceship key, when the last we saw of it, it was sucked out of the spaceship during the tornado?

Hey yall, here ya go if you missed all or part of the end of the world episode
http://www.youtube.com/w/?v=5dBZA74L0lo
and it won't cost a penny and you don't have to subscribe or anything. Unfortunately it is a bit pixilated and there's no controls I can find nor are there any ads, so do not go there yet unless you are really ready to watch it now.
It's an excellent episode of a great show. I just read a blog from the gal who is the main writer and she says that they were hoping for a ninety minute episode, then she got told to make it two hours, so we'll have to see whether she could stretch it out and still maintain quality.
