Hurray for the fall season!

Prison Break started up again last night and I hadn't realized how starved I was for good television. Thank goodness fall is upon us! I can't wait to see what is in store for my favorite shows.

Argh! Annoyed now!

Ahh, Buffy. What would I do without you when I need witty ways to express my foul mood.

So, here's the deal. I've never watched Everwood. I believe those who say it's wonderful and should have been picked up by the CW. I'd much rather see Everwood continue than the tripe that is 7th Heaven. In no way am I trying to say Everwood isn't worthy.

However, it's not the freaking Holy Grail of television.

I'm tired of reading all the whining from fans/critics of this canceled series who are acting like a) no good show has ever been canceled before its time (sometime, ask me about Farscape, k?) and b) the CW is a hopelessly lost mess of crap because Everwood didn't make the roster.

That's just...ridiculous.

Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Everybody Hates Chris, and Supernatural all made the cut and rightly so. These shows are also critical darlings that have had varying success in the ratings. Does the lack of Everwood somehow detract from their quality, fanbase or ratings potential?

I think not.

The CW is going to be fine and any implication from disgruntled fans that it won't simply because Everwood won't be returning just sounds like whining. I'm tired of it. Everwood didn't put the WB on the map. It didn't win any ratings races, it didn't produce any break out stars that Hollywood can't stop talking about.

By all accounts, Everwood delivered consistent quality entertainment and that's great and it should be enough to keep a show going. The fact that it didn't is lamentable, but hardly a sign that the entire network is now going to suck its way into the 10th level of ratings hell.

I can breath a GINORMOUS sigh of relief!

Supernatural and Veronica Mars live on!

For two weeks, I've been waiting with bated breath for the CW's announcement and the fate of my two favorite shows to be sealed. Apparently, the tv gods love me this spring, because I got what I wanted. Three cheers for Dawn and the CW!

Although, I have to say I'm annoyed with two things. 1) Renewing 7th Heaven and 2) Cancelling Everwood while giving One Tree Hill another lease on life.

First, just let 7th Heaven die already. 10 years is long enough, I don't care how many people are watching.

Second, I don't watch EW or OTH, so I don't really have a vested interest in which gets what, but from a purely logical, ratings and critical acclaim basis, EW is the heavy favorite and OTH should go quietly into that good night. I'll be interested to hear the explanation for this choice.

What sucks the most about the decision, though, is now there's no escape from the upset fans of EW and the gloating OTH people.

*sigh*

I'll just stick to my Veronica Mars/Supernatural boards. It's safer. And saner.

I know that Jo/The Roadhouse Crew are a sore subject with some Supernatural fans. I have no problems with the Roadhouse Crew myself-I don't want them to become regulars, but I don't mind seeing them. I have to say my favorite part about No Exit was that Jo didn't break. I knew she'd get her wish and be bait for the demon, and I was so glad that she didn't give in to her fears. She actually proved herself to me in this ep. Now, do I want her to be a love interest for Dean...eh. Don't know. I don't think Alona Tal is really the right actress for this character. I think she has chemistry with Jensen, but frankly, they can do better. It's not knocking my socks off. I like her look, though. I like that she's not just some cookie-cutter pretty face blonde. Anyway, I thought this was a really good installment of the show. The demon of the week freaked me out. The spirit of a serial killer. Ew. Dead fingers reaching through vents and such. Double ew. You know what freaked me out more, though? Ellen. Cripes, she's scary. I don't blame Dean for fearing her. LOL Loved the fact that John was responsible-somehow-for getting Jo's dad killed. Frankly, I'm just thrilled the show's not going to be lame and make Jo some half-sibling of the boys. It looks like we won't be seeing the Roadhouse for awhile. Fine by me. I love the show with or without it.

I haven't been one of the Prison Break fans bemoaning what they perceive to be lacking from Season 2. I do admit, though, that this season hasn't been as tight and well plotted as consistently as S1. Well, Dead Fall was as perfect as any Prison Break episode has ever been. Love the twist of Sucre and Michael playing T-Bag and C-Note. Love it. I was so sad when I thought Sucre had turned on Michael. As much as Michael needs to get past his obsession with saving people, I'm really glad he stuck around and saved Sucre...even though I had to watch that GORGEOUS bike bite the dust. Linc proved he's not just the brawns in the family. His ploy of having the meth head jump LJ in order to pick him up was brilliant! Sara is figuring it out! I'm so glad she's quicker than stupid Veronica. Now if only she hadn't left that other bird behind. LOL I'm glad that Kellerman isn't developing too much of a soft spot for Sara. I like that he'd rather not see her dead, but I have no interest in seeing the guy switch sides. I'm also pleased he's starting to get some of his status back and isn't just having his ass handed to him each week like he was a few episodes ago. Yaye Prison Break!

Wow. Just wow. I love this show. What a spectacular season premier. Kripke's attention to detail and continuity is inspired and I love him for it. I've been wondering, ever since Faith, if Dean would have to face Death again as a result of him cheating it before. Well, I got my answer last night. I wonder what Dean's choice would have been? A warrior's death, on the field of battle, is always what I assumed he'd want. Or prefer, I guess, since no one wants their death. But I also think, out of his sense of family loyalty, Dean would have risked turning into a mad, crazy spirit on the off chance that Sam and John would have figured out a way to cheat Death again and bring him back. Speaking of John, he was perfect in this episode. Finally, I got to see what Dean meant to him. His affection and concern for Sam was always obvious-Sam was the golden, must-be-protected child. But Dean...poor Dean never knew where he stood until right before his father died. And what was it that John whispered in Dean's ear? Frankly, I'm glad I don't know. I don't want to know yet. I want this show to unravel slowly so I can savor every moment of it. I've got no doubt we'll see John Winchester again in some incarnation. I wonder how and why. Ooo, and when is the demon going to return? You know the trade and the Colt wasn't enough to keep him off the boys' back for long. And the boys. Sam and Dean. I love their bond, the fact that they'd each lay down their lives for the other. Jared and Jensen have the best chemistry. Lastly, my Impala. I can't wait to see it whole and shiny again. :-D It was so nice of Sam to have it fixed for me, um I mean, Dean.

To say I love General Hospital's Elizabeth Webber and her portrayer Rebecca Herbst would probably be an understatement. Aside from being a gorgeous person, Rebecca is an amazingly talented actress. She's able to convey the most complex of emotions with a subtlety that leaves her audience hanging on every word. She never relies on over the top hystrionics or cliched methods garner sympathy. Elizabeth is a believable and relatable character because Rebecca, despite her breathtaking looks, focuses on her character's humanity.

I'm sad to say I missed the first year of Rebecca's tenure on General Hospital, but I've been hooked since 1998 and I counldn't be happier that I have Ms. Herbst to thank for that.

Otis

Otis lacked one thing for me. Cast integration and balance. Michael and Lincoln are the focus of the show and I want it to stay that way, but not at the expense of the other characters. I don't think PB is going to abandon the rest of its cast based on one episode, however, so that is just a minor gripe. The gang from Fox River has another goal in mind-get to Utah. The entire episode (and I'm guessing the episodes that will follow) carried a sense of anticipation as roadblocks were thrown up in nearly everybody's path. I admire Michael's ingenuity in coming up with a plan to break LJ out of jail. I'm bummed it didn't work, but as usual I didn't expect it to. Nothing gets to come easy for these guys. As much as I like Mahone, I thought it was pathetic that he actually played tug of war with LJ. It just looked...lame. Not something an in control adult would resort to. He looked desperate and a little unhinged. I wasn't expecting that from this character.

T-bag getting his hand back was satisfying, even if it was unsettling to see him kill the doctor who did the job. Again, though, I didn't expect anything less. That's what I've always appreciated about this show. They don't let you forget that the 'heroes' aren't pure as the driven snow and almost never do the right thing. Michael and Lincoln are the occasional exception to this rule. I don't fault the guys or the show for this, I applaud them for it. I'm ready for next week. The previews looked great. Sarah's back. :-D
