The Most Important News Ever...
Torchwood came in today!!!!!!
May not be important to you, but it sure as hell is to me. It's chock full of special features, I'm so excited, it's just insane. I'm possibly more happy than when the first season of Bones came and than was near full strength crazy.
Just had to pop in and gloat a bit more. Woohoooo!
The Most Ridiculous Thing
I'm doing a project on a documentary for my English class, and I picked the movie What the Bleep Do We Know?!. Big mistake.
This so-called docu. is about how quantum physics can affect out perception of reality, or some such drivel. It's quite interesting if you have a ton a weed. However, my dealer ran out on me, so I had to watch this cold.
It's facts are just plain wrong, the interviewees have no idea what they are talking about, and the whole thing reeks of cultism. In fact, the most prominent talking head, all of which are not identified until the end credits, is Ramtha, a 35000 year old warrior-god channeled through JZ Knight, the woman being interviewed. The three directors (count 'em) are all purportedly members of the Ramtha School of Enlightenment as well, of which she is the leader. I looked up the website, and it's a bunch of horsesh*t. One of the reasons given for why Ramtha channels himself through JZ is that she was chosen for this work. I stratched my head at that circular answer.
The only good part was that Armin Shimerman, Principal Snyder from Buffy, showed up for about 2 seconds to spout a question at the main character while looking "The Message from Water" photos being presented in the subway. "If thoughts can do that to water, I wonder what our thoughts can do to us." That was his only line. He gets to repeat it 2 more times, just for emphasis later in the movie.
It's a stange mix of talking head interviewees, fictionalized story, and animation. It sounds like a plausible combo, but these guys really mishandled it. If they ahd checked their info more, it could possibly have been better, but it just comes out as a childish commercial for the Ramtha cult.
Watch it with a whole bag of salt.
Wish Me Buckets of Luck
I am right now "preparing" for the first of my two AP tests tomorrow morning, US History. I'm so not ready for it. I thought 400 years of history would be a piece of cake compared to World History last year, which covered about 5000 years. I managed a 3 on that, which is the minimum passing grade.
For those of you unfamiliar with AP tests, it's the test at the end of the AP class, which is basically college level work. It's a 1-5 grading scale, with a 3 passing. 75 questions in about 55 minutes, and 3 essays, one a DBQ, document based question in which you have to include at least half of the given documents to answer the question. In other words, it's really freakin' hard.
I don't know how I managed last year, cause I didn't even do two of the essays and wrote about the wrong stuff in the other. I just hope the same thing can happen this time. I so don't want to do this again in college.
My other is on Wednesday for English. I'm not worried about that at all. Even my teacher told me he had faith that I can get a 5, which actually might be possible. I want that desperately.
Only semi-bad thing is that I forgot to tell my 2nd period teacher that I am taking the test and will be gone tomorrow; I have a video project due, that she knows I don't even have the music for yet. Hopefully she will take pity on me.
And I also finished my driving lessons today. Just have to ride out the rest of the class in the room, then I get my license in August.
Oh and Torchwood should be arriving tomorrow too or the next day.
I Never Liked Church...
But now I'm a Church Lady! Yay for leveling up!
We also released our current possum a few hours ago. It was in the same place as last time, a ravine off the road, underneath an overpass. There were bones from a deer, including two legs and the skull, which still had fur on it. I got a picture of that. There was also the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, a rotted-looking fish husk. It was right behind the cage on the sand, but it took me a minute to notice. I had a mini-freak. Wouldn't go near it. There was also a huge white crane-looking bird that flew by. That was pretty.
I'm gonna miss this guy. I totally bonded with him. I would take him out of the cage and sit on the swing with me holding him on my shoulder. He's so sweet when he yawns.
Plus, I just ordered the first season of Torchwood from Target online. It was the cheapest I could find it. I can't wait for it to come.
Squeee!
It's Over, It's Really Over
AHHHHHH! I'm so exhausted/ happy.
I just finished my TAKS testing today. Wednesday was math, Thursday was science, and today was social studies. Now, I will never ever have to take it ever again. Unless I failed. Which I doubt. I'm that good.
I also just got back from bowling. It was a Bowlathon fundraiser for a teacher who has cancer. Today was the second week and not as many people were there. My physics teacher went last week....missed him.
I totally suck at bowling. My friend, Derek, pictured below, is on the varsity bowling team. Guess who got the highest score of the team? Guess who got the lowest.
Yeah.
And now I'm about to leave, in like 10-15 minutes to go see the Golden Girls, the high school dance team, perform their last show of the year. It's extra credit for my dance class. Only reason I'm really going, else I'd be here on the computer.
And this is about as busy as I get.
Night all.

I recently bought the first season, of which I have only seen a few episodes, mostly towards the end. I watched the second season on TV anyway, even though I normally hate doing that because I feel it ruins surprises. That is a testament to how badly I liked this show.
Captain Jack Harkness, you just can't not say his full name, is such an enigmatic character. I can't take my eyes off of him. It's not just that John Barrowman is hot, which he is, but it's his whole personality. I think what I like most about him is his smile. When he smiles, you know it's with his whole self, and that's not something you see often.
The rest of the cast is so wonderfully put together. At first, Owen's mouth put me off him a little; I feel it's a bit too wide, but then I got used to him and now care dearly for him, may he rest in peace if that's how they're leaving him. I cried for him and Toshiko too, who is played so beautifully by Naoko Maori.
Although it's a spin off from Doctor Who, in now way should this be confused with it. This is much more adult and dangerous, with the pansexual Captain at the core of things.
If that's your bag, take it and run with it. Excellent to the bone.

Bones The Man in the Fallout Shelter Avg Score: 9.58 Total Ratings: 554 Total Reviews: 45 |
Then Booth in his boxers, and high as well. He just cracked me up this entire episode. I admit, though, I was somewhat disappointed, the first time I saw this one, to find out he had a son. Made me think of Angel, and it didn't feel like something Booth would, you know, have. But Parker's grown on me I guess, or at least the idea of him. I'm not much for kids. Booth's a great dad, very protective and it shows. The robot was just a bonus.
Finding out about Angela's dad was funny too. Who'd guess she'd have such a famous father. And Zack such a big family. Wow. He's well loved, as he should be.
The fireplace scene made me laugh, because for some reason I like when TV people talk about religion. Especially Bones, who is so altruistic. Learning more about her childhood is also of the good.
The actual plot, I have to say, didn't really engage me much. But that's not to say it was bad, that's just my opinion. I do recommend this to anyone in need of a good time.

David Boreanaz Avg Score: 9.64 Total Ratings: 1164 Total Reviews: 75 |
I first saw him as the brooding Angel on his own series. I then got completely hooked into that and also Buffy. Something about the character just pulls me in, makes me want to watch him. He does a wonderful job pulling off Angel/Angelus' considerable pathos.
I also watched him in his Crow movie. Not my favorite, but not 100% bad. Never trust a straight to DVD movie.
And then comes Bones, the show I have been waiting for. Reruns of the DVDs could only last me so long. I need fresh material from David, something new every week. He's excellent as the ex-sniper Seeley Booth. With his crazy socks and buckles, he quickly worked his way into my heart as an independent character. His chemistry with Emily Deschanel is amazing, just slightly better than with his Buffy or Cordelia co-actresses. David needs to get into more main stream big picture works. Bones is great exposure for him, but it's not everybody's cup of tea, plot-wise. The world needs to see his great talent.

Bones The Woman in the Sand Avg Score: 9.46 Total Ratings: 377 Total Reviews: 33 |
I have nothing but good things to say about this wonderful episode. Although I could have done without the poker chip seques. Booth is awesome as Tony. I love this side of David Boreanaz, when he gets to play the fun guy. And wow, did Bones look great in that dress. Her Roxanne was beautiful too. The chemistry between the two is white hot, and you get sure signs of it in this episode. Even Angela notices a bit.
Zach and Hodgin's fight talk was great. I love Zach to pieces, and seeing him punch Hodgins was so funny.
Seeing Booth fight was great too. Having it intercut with the team watching their own fight was cool, how their comments fit with what Booth was doing.
A perfect piece of television.
Tosh's was dramatic, to say the least. I thought it was amazing that she could go through something like that and come out the beautiful person she is. It shows how caring she is, that she would do so much for her mother. Even after the arrest, she still asks Jack about her mother's safety.
Ianto's kind of annoyed me. I was hoping it'd be more...I don't know, romantic, in a sense. I didn't think he'd have come from another Torchwood. But god, did he look good in those jeans.
Owen's was my absolute favorite. He's always such a cynical guy, but you know there must be something underneath, something that precipitated that personality swing. His relationship with Katie was beautiful. Loving and sweet, you saw the inside of Owen, the side he tends to cover up. Knowing that he'd gone through such tragedy made me love him even more.
