Stargate Atlantis Search and Rescue (2) Avg Score: 9.15 Total Ratings: 158 Total Reviews: 10 |
I loved this episode! It had everything that you would want in a season premiere action, drama, and plenty of close calls. Everyone was at the top of their game in this episode and it kicked the season off to an excellent start. Sam showed plenty of leadership abilities and I will miss her character when she leaves. Sheppard, Ronon and Mackay were quintessentally themselves and their concern for Teyla and her baby came through loud and clear with their willingness to put themselves in danger by infiltrating Michaels' hive ship in order to get her back. Of course there was the predictable scene of Teyla going into labour on the wraith ship and mackay helping her deliver but I was totally expecting this so I wasn't annoyed and it did provide some very funny Mackay moments!
Search and Rescue was an excellent start to the season and I have high hopes for this fifth season.

I must say that I was slightly disappointed with "The Seed" because it seemed to fall flat somewhat. This episode was the second of the fifth season and you would really expect it to kick it into high gear because it does introduce two new regular cast members to the audience. I was expecting more tension with the introduction of Woolsey as the new leader but the other characters seemed to be shrugging that off like it was of little consequence and even after they "defrosted" Carson I was expecting more emotion from everyone but again the characters seemed slightly off emotionally. Even Rodney seemed less snarky! There are always a few episodes in every season that for some reason don't strike a cord with me so I'm guessing that "The Seed" is one for season five!

Stargate Atlantis The Last Man (1) Avg Score: 9.27 Total Ratings: 274 Total Reviews: 29 |
I am not a huge fan of these flashback/timetravel stories so I was somewhat disappointed in this episode especially since it was a season finale. I thought that they could have gone with a more straight line adventure storyline rather than jumping around with the flashbacks. One thing that interested me though is that alot of the trouble with Micheal seems to stem from Teyla's baby so that should provide some interesting stories in season five. My favourite sequence was the end when the building collapsed on Sheppard, Mackay, Ronon and Lorne you know that they will survive but you still have to wait a few months to find out how things turn out.

The season finale of Moonlight delivered everything that a fan could have wanted except perhaps the gaurantee of a second season. The episode opens with Josef, Beth and Mick attending a function honoring a local college that Josef has donated money to. We get to see Mick and Beth on this their fourth "offical" date and finally getting to act like a "normal" couple dancing, getting dressed up etc. Moonlight being Moonlight of course that dosn't last long after the body of the local basketball honoree is found murdered. I liked the fact that we got to see Mick, Josef, Beth in a more social setting mingling with each other and others if only for a little while before the murder and mayhem. This entire season has had an underlying tension of the budding romance between Mick and Beth and in the season finale you can feel that tension coming to a head. All through the season Mick has been the one to pull back from Beth saying things would never work between them because his a vampire and she's a human. However when Beth makes the final move to put an end to their relationship before it ever starts Mick is the one who actually pushes for something more. The show ends very romantically with Mick and Beth passionately kissing and Beth's apartment door closing.

Moonlight Fated to Pretend Avg Score: 9.66 Total Ratings: 330 Total Reviews: 24 Users who agree: 1 |
Fated to Pretend was well worth the wait! It had everything and the kitchen sink! Action, Drama and Romance or at least the promise of a potentional romance! The writers are moving things along with the show getting rid of some characters and adding others. When Beth's boss Maureen is murdered Beth and Mick team up to find her killer and in the process work through pent up feelings that they have for each other. Mick remains human for much of the episode and seems to be reveling in it but he quickly comes to the realization that he can do much more good for Beth and everyone else as a vampire than a human and so asks Josef to turn him back after Beth is kidnapped by another vampire! The potentional is there for alot of excellent stories to come out of Beth and Mick's growing romance and the pitfalls that are inherent with any couples relationship putting aside the fact that there is an added pressure of vampirism to add to the mix.
