The Wire Avg Score: 8.63 Total Ratings: 2052 Total Reviews: 77 Users who agree: 1 |
The wire is an intense drama. It is catergorized as "action/adventure", but that could not be further from the truth. In a time of shows (like 24) where if someone isn't shot or killed in an episode it seems completely odd, the wire exists as a show that is completely character driven. It took the better part of two seasons for a "good guy" to get shot in the show and when it happened it hit me like a ton of bricks. I watched the first two seasons on dvd while watching the fifth season of 24 on air. I grew increasingly bored with 24. People were getting shot all too often and every episode had to be high stakes. As the series creator (David Simon) put it, the wire is like a novel, where each episode is a chapter. To enjoy a book, you cant just read a chapter here and a chapter there, you must read the entire thing. If you invest the time to watch the entire first season from episode one to episode thirteen, you will not regret it. Yes, at the end of some episodes you will feel like things didn't go anywhere (especially the first two), but in the end of all thirteen, you will be rewarded handsomely. The fourth season is just the best television I've ever seen. I hope that you take the time to invest in a show that is truely informative and worthwhile.

The Office Gay Witch Hunt Avg Score: 9.34 Total Ratings: 444 Total Reviews: 43 |
This episode is destined to be a classic and while I watched it I couldnt stop from laughing histerically the entire time. We all got some closure after a long summer of wondering what happened between Jim and Pam. The episode set up some questions that will be soon addressed in the upcoming episodes. For example, how will Jim manage to torment a fellow employee when hes miles away from his favorite target and his new co-worker clearly has anger issues. I have a feeling that his calculator will not end up in jello any time soon. I feel bad from any new viewer to the show who only watched it because it won best comedy at the emmys. I think that to really enjoy this episode, you have to know the characters and understand what theyre all about. I dont think that Stanley discussing his lack of a need for two toasters or Creed explaining that there would be no way of knowing if he accidentally had sex with a man, would be hilarious if you didn't see the characters prior to this.
Even though I think that this was a truely hilarious episode, I hope that new viewers dont judge the show by it.
