This third Doctor adventure is a brilliantly written ending for the Pertwee era. Not only does it feature both UNIT and the alien planet of Metebelis Three (thus being different to other Pertwee stories with either exile or elsewhere), but it features a really good alien monster that the Doctor has to battle which we, as viewers, can easily associate with. The Daleks are by far the best monsters, however the monsters, that of spiders, in this story are excellent because so many of us have a phobia of spiders anyway, so this association can lead us to be even more frightened of the real thing; therefore the monster in this story seems one of the most realistic of the series.The story features one of the best pairing, the fantastically portrayed third Doctor, with the scatty, yet smart...
