Recap! Prepare yourself for the longness!

Hey everybody, what's up? You may have noticed that I haven't been on for a while and I probably won't be on again for another while. Here's a list of half-assed reasons:

-been busy

-car stuff

-work/money/distractions

-it's kinda too much for me to keep up with right now

-kinda burned out on this site/need a break

-doing more volunteer stuffs lately

See? I told you they were half-assed. Anyway, I had to let go of my old car. Goodbye, Old Friend. Here's a picture of what my car looked like (not an picture of my actual car)

volvo

R.I.P White Lightning

I got a new car. It's a 2002 Honda Accord. It's a lot cooler than my old car, but now I have an expensive car payment like a big kid.

Halloween:

Had a great time. Heather's party was a lot of fun. Then on Halloween day I came to work with a fake rubber pencil through my neck and blood running down my shirt. It grossed out everyone in my office. They were lining up to take pic of me with their cell phones. Then went to my friends' house to hand out some candy and happened to run into an old friend who now has a 3-year-old daughter she was taking trick or treating! Wow, all my friends are growing up.

Oh yeah, I carved a Rock Lee pumpkin and sent the pic into Anime News Network. I knew I wasn't going to win but I thought, what the hell. Check it out here. My entry is under my real name, Julie.

TV stuff:

-The writers' strike sucks, but I totally understand why their doing it. As far as I understand, they want to get paid for people downloading their stuff on the internet. That's fair enough. Some actors get paid ridiculous sums of money, execs need to kick the writers a little somethin. Without writers, there'd be no story. Nothing to act, direct, produce... just give into them already. Especially the writers of Heroes, they're geniuses.

-Seth McFarlane is on strike with the writers. I heard Fox is going to go ahead with the episodes without him. Bad idea, Fox. I'd rather wait for McFarlane to come back than have a crappy Family Guy episode.

-They announced the date for the much-rumored Dragon Ball Movie, August 18, 2008. Hells yeah. I can't wait to see it. Even if it sucks.

Work:

-Somehow I got on the Holiday party-planning committee. I didn't really want to, but whatever. So I'm trying to organize this years Non-demoninational Holiday Festivus Winter Gift Exchange (formerly Secret Santa).

-Boring meetings, boring everything. Servers keep crashing, other sucky stuff.

Other stuff:

Oh yeah, I won a contest to go to a local chocolatier and see how the chocolates were made. It was AWESOME. We got champagne and all the free samples we could eat. Then a big gift bag full of tons of chocolate to take home. So if you live in or ear Maryland, check out Kirchmayr Chocolates.

I want Guitar Hero III and Rise of a Ninja very very very badly. But I dont have an XBox360 to play Rise of a Ninja on, so I have to stop wanting it. And I'm too broke to afford GH. As Buddha would say, desire is the source of all suffering.

I love talking to everyone, but I just need a break right now. So I hope everyone will understand. Scatha_guardian and Fairywings1981 have my email if you want to drop me a line. I check it often. (Scatha and Fairy- I hope you dont mind giving it out if someone asks.)

So that's about it. I'll be back eventually. Everyone take care of yourselves.

holy crap

Oh man, I was in a really bad car accident yesterday.

I was on my way to work and I had a green light and pulled into an intersection then POW! I never saw it coming. And I just thought "Oh fvck." And there was just glass and debris everywhere.

I couldn't believe it. I'm thinking "what just happened? This didn't really happen." Then I looked around. There were a few cars pulled over or parked in like the middle of the road blocking traffic. And people were getting out of their cars. My glasses had flown off my face when the car hit me and everything looked kinda fuzzy.

Then I saw that one of the cars had smoke coming out of it like mine and I thought "this must be the car that hit me. What happened? Was the light really green? I can't remember now." Then I got out of my car on the passenger's side so the cars on my left wouldn't hit me and a woman comes over to meand says "oh my god, are you alright?" And I say "yeah I'm fine." She said "that woman just ran the red light." Then a guy comes over and says he saw her run the light too. And I'm thinking "Oh thank god it's not my fault."

So I get out to see if the other person is okay. she said she was, but she looked even more shocked than me. She was probably in her 70s. The cops and paramedics came. I told them I was fine but they tookthe other womanto the hospital in an ambulance. The whole hood of her car was kind of crumpled and the front right side of mine was all smashed in. Neither car was drivable and they are probably both totaled.

So the good thing is that the cop said since it wasn't my fault her insurance company would have to pay for everything- my car, getting it towed, and renting a car till I can find a new one.

The woman didn't look like she was hurt, so I'm hoping she's okay. I have to go now and rent a car so I can get to work on Monday, so I'll try to catch up with everyone in a few days.

Recap Blog. Now in color.

Well here's a little recap of what's been goin on with me. Let's see...

The caramel corn turned out pretty good. I won 2nd place, which I'm very happy with. I love to cook. Oh, but I burned my hand very badly making it. Be very careful with hot caramel. It'll take your skin right off.

The breast cancer race was alright. Very early in the morning and very crowded, but all for a good cause.

I'm trying to settle some things with my health insurance company. I don't understand their policies. It's complicated, and boring, but it ends up with me owing them almost $2000. Bad.

I started playing Diablo II. I played it about 6 years ago. Why am I playing such an old game? Cause shut up, it's good. Plus my bf never played it before, so we're playing it together.

My mom gets to go to Tuscany, Italy for a trip with her job. How lucky is that? All expenses paid and everything. I wish I could go. It's not until next June, so I think I might get her a digital camera for Christmas.

Meetings at work all this week. Most of them are mind-numbingly boring and have little to do with my job. But at least we get bagels.

That's about it. This blog needs a picture.

There we go. Adorable.

Arrested Development is a hilarious comedy about the escapades of a rich and dysfunctional family. The combination of brilliant acting, writing and directing make it appeal to viewers who are not satisfied by the drivel that makes up most mindless sitcoms. The unique characters, while hilarious on their own, come together to paint a picture of the absurd life of the Bluth family. Not a moment is wasted in this series. Every joke is hysterical and every episode a classic. The reactions of the "straight man," Michael, and the neutrality of the narrator (director Ron Howard) provide the optimal balance to the behavior of the wackier characters. If you are sick of lame laugh-tracks, predictable jokes, tired characters and recycled plot lines, check out Arrested Development, the greatest sitcom ever cancelled.

If MXC made you laugh but left you wanting more serious and extreme challenges, check out Ninja Warrior (known in Japan as Sasuke.) This has got to be the most difficult obstacle course in the world and the few (currently 2 male and 1 female) that actually have completed all 4 stages are elite atheletes and now world-famous. Ninja Warrior is easy to get into and will have you on the edge of your seat. You'll gasp with disappointment when a challenger falls into the water and cheer when one finally makes it to the end of the stage. Each stage is increasingly difficult. If you are a regular viewer, you'll develop an attachment to the all-stars (frequent competitors)as well as your personal favorites. Also check out Women of Ninja Warrior (Kunoichi, in Japan) to see an obstacle course specially designed for female challengers that focuses more on agility than strength.
