Happy 4th of July, everyone! (New fanfic...yay!)

Well, happy Fourthto those of you who celebrate it! I just thought I'd drop in and post a happy Independence Day to all who live in the US! I suppose it's fitting to be patriotic on this day, too, because the US has FINALLY, after eight long months, decided to air five new episodes of DP! So I'm willing to celebrate.

I've also written a brand-new fluff-filled oneshot to celebrate the Fourth of July. Reviews are much appreciated!

Okey-dokey, for now I must depart! Til I blog again!

I've discovered a real-life phangirl!

Right now I'm in a good mood. Know why? Because I've finally met someone else who's a Danny Phantom fangirl! She's my age, and her name is Sam....go figure! I met her at this awesome little summer camp I go to every year at a nearby college. You should've been there today....

My brother, Chris (staring at our other friend, Laura's, Naruto backpack): Wow, you must really like Naruto.

Laura: Yeah, it's my favorite show. I know everything about it.

Chris (I completely expected this): Hey, you're almost as obsessed with Naruto as Kay is with Danny Phantom!

Laura: Eh, I've never really liked that show.

Sam (who was standing next to me): Are you kidding? Danny Phantom is hot!

At that point, I just completely glomped her right there. Can you believe it? I'm amazed that someone else living in the illiterate redneck- and prep-filled dustbowl I live in is actually a fangirl and not afraid to admit it! And her name is Sam, which is a total quinkydink. You know, this has actually inspired me a little bit. If someone brings up DP around me, I start blushing and stuttering, while Sam flat-out says that she likes it. I'm feeling a lot more confident now, and maybe eventually I'll get to the point where I'm not afraid to talk about my obsession, too.

You know, I'm feeling really happy right now.

I'm kinda sad...

I can't believe it's over.

My best year ever is over.

Eighth grade is over.

*Sigh* It's actually weird, because I hated middle school when it first began. Hated it! And now that it's over, I feel sad about it. Eighth grade was the best school year I've ever had... I had a lot of friends and some really awesome teachers. And now I have to say goodbye to those really awesome teachers because I'll be going off to high school this fall, and I even have to say goodbye to my best friend because she's going to a totally different high school next year. I'll never have my sixth period again, the class with my most favorite teacher ever and all my friends in it....

And now I'll be going off to high school, where I'll soon go from a freshman to a sophomore to a junior and then a senior and then I'll be going to college and I'm not ready to give up being a kid yet! Every night lately I've either dreamed about my old friends and teachers or going off to college and having everyone there ridicule me because I watch Danny Phantom and love stuffed animals and eat junk food and act crazy and be a kid!

*Sigh again* Okay, everyone who's reading this probably thinks I'm pathetic, don't you? I probably am pathetic.

Well, I gots to go. I'll write more next time I get the chance. But for now, cya!

Arrgh, I'm losing my battle with patience!!!

Ack, I'm going to die! I'm not a patient person AT ALL, and now I'm having to wait for Super Paper Mario! I'm nearly tearing my hair out right now!!! On Monday, my parents are getting the game while I'm at school, and I don't know how I'm going to wait till I get home to play it! I don't even know how I'll be able to make it through Easter without exploding!!! I'm hoping to get an SPM wallpaper for my computer...that should look cool and keep me happy for now. I'm just so excited that there's another Paper Mario game coming out. The first two were AWESOME, but this one should be the absolute BEST EVER! Man, I can't wait!!!!!!!! I'm such a Mario addict. I remember when I was little, just a little Mario newbie...I would always watch the New Super Mario Bros. TV show every Saturday morning--even before I got my first-ever console, the Nintendo 64. And now I'm getting ready to play a brand new Mario game, 9 years later. Hmm...I wonder what it would be like if Mario actually aged? That would be FREAKY...he'd be, like, really old now! I wonder why Peach's hair changed from its original red to blonde? Aren't there enough blond-haired video game princesses already??? Talk about cliched!!! And red hair's so much cooler, anyway! And I wonder who came up with Mario to begin with, too. I mean, I can just picture him (or her) walking into some video game business meeting, saying, "Hey, I have an idea! Let's make a video game about a short, mustachioed Italian plumber who goes around jumping on enemies and saves a princess? I shall call him Mario!" I wonder what the rest of the business meeting people were thinking...probably something along the line of "is this dude on drugs or something?" Their faces must've looked like this: Heh. But Mario's turned into such a big hit, I don't think the strangeness of his origin really matters anymore.... But while I'm thinking about this, anyway...who thought of turning him paper? Paper, for crying out loud! I mean, if that isn't weird, than what is? But it worked. I suppose weirdness works that way...why else would SpongeBob be so popular? And who thought of Luigi? How come he's the younger brother if he's taller than Mario? It doesn't make sense. I wonder who Mario and Luigi's mother was?!?  Man, that's a weird question!!! She must've looked really weird...and who was the dad? He HAD to have had a mustache.

Whoa, I'm writing on a total stream of conciousness now. I went from Super Paper Mario anticipation to Mario and Luigi's dad's mustache. Lol. I'm really hyper. My little brother keeps bugging me to get off the computer...he wants to go on Runescape, his long-time obsession. Oh well, I guess I'll write more later, then. I just felt like writing, actually...

But before I go, I want to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER! I hope the Easter Bunny leaves you lots of candy.... I hope he leaves ME lots of it too...as if I really need it...

Until next time, everyone...see ya! (The person who can tell me where that quote is from gets a cookie!)

Super Paper Mario and other cool stuff!!!

I so can't wait for this Monday (boy, I never thought I'd say that in my entire life)! Why, you ask? Because Super Paper Mario is being released!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really excited. Having beaten Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door 11 times now (no, I'm not kidding, I'm THAT obsessed), I can't wait to be able to play yet another Paper Mario game! And guess what? My dad already pre-ordered it for me and my little brother (I love that guy)! This is going to be SO AWESOME!!! Must...wait...until...Monday!

Ooh, and guess what else? I recently found out that there are going to be new DP episodes that will be aired in June...this time in the US! I can't wait for those, either! (again)

I've gotta learn some patience...

The main reason I love this show so much is because the characters are so amazing.

Shawn has to be one of my favorite television show characters of all time. The thing about him is that he's actually one of those characters who is funny and doesn't even have to try to be. There are those who crack jokes constantly, trying with all their might to be hilarious all the time. Shawn doesn't need to do that; it's his own natural personality and charisma that give him his charm. Some of the things he says are just so random that they make me giggle, and his "psychic vibe" demonstrations for people are always funny. He has so many memorable quotes that I can't help but blurt them out constantly, annoying my family and friends. Basically, Shawn is just a naturally lovable character. Now, as much as I love Shawn on his own, he'd be nothing without Gus. Gus is the sort of friend who's always trying to keep the crazy one out of trouble and then they both end up getting into things way over their heads. The chemistry between Shawn and Gus is always great to see, and they totally complement each other. They're the perfect dynamic duo.

It's not just the characters that I love on this show, either. The premise of the show is very unique: a guy with an amazing photographic memory who poses as a psychic so he can help solve crimes with his partner and best friend. Not exactly a storyline you see every day. I also love the plots of each episode -- they're all interesting and keep me wondering what will happen next.

Overall, it's an amazing show. It's definitely one of my favorites.

At the beginning of the episode, I really wasn't sure where the heck it was going. It seemed kinda...no, not kinda, VERY unlikely that two people would think of the same song at the same time without even telling each other. Through the beginning, I was thinking, "This is just another unrealistic episode...won't be too good...will just end with some corny brother-bonding conclusion."

However, as the episode progressed, I realized that it really wasn't just about Nat and Alex as brothers...instead, it was focusing on their late mother. I personally would never know what it would be like to lose my mom, and I can't possibly imagine how horrible that has to be. In this episode, the subject of losing a loved one was brought up in an unexpectedly mature way, completed with a very clever and thoughtful ending. It all made sense in the end...their mother used to sing that song, and they were remembering it. I never would've expected something this profound and amazing from The Naked Brothers Band. This also brought out a lot of character development in Nat and Alex's father...he was really acting like a concerned dad rather than just a goofy accordion-obsessed lunatic.

Of course, as with every episode of every show, it certainly had its share of downfalls. Betty's still completely unstable, which I don't like about her character. It gets annoying when the children of the show are portrayed as more mature than the adults--that's just unrealistic. It was also somewhat out-of-character for Nat to freak out so fast about the song...it seems to me like he would be busy trying to figure it out rather than screaming his head off. Freaking out about tiny little things is Alex's job, not Nat's.

All-in-all, I'm impressed with this episode. The ending was very sweet and really unexpected. And though it had a few flaws, no episode can be perfect. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this episode.

I loved this episode for so many reasons. It had an awesome plotline, some great character development, and an amazing conclusion. It was a beautifully played out ending to the amazing Danny Phantom series.

For one thing, there was the plotline. Okay, so maybe it wasn't all that realistic, but I loved the way it brought everyone--former enemies, including humans and ghosts--together to save the world. I also found it quite interesting to see Danny's take on his own powers after having them for a while. Everybody's emotions were portrayed beautifully in this episode, making everyone's feelings very believable. It wasn't too angsty or over-dramatic, either, which was nice and must have been difficult to do with such a serious plotline. There were some moments where it was good timing to be dramatic and others where it was the time to be cheerful, and I'm glad that this finale was able to identify them and tell the difference--unlike many episodes of other shows I've seen. The ending itself was wonderful and a lot better than I'd expected it to be. Danny's parents finally figured out his secret, and it was interesting to see a real reaction from them other than the temporary one we saw in Reality Trip.

I'm sure you're waiting for me to begin obsessing over the romance in the finale, huh? Well, wait no longer! The ending between Danny and Sam was simply adorable. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see Sam actually make the first move by kissing Danny on the cheek like she did, overcoming the shyness we've noticed in her in previous episodes. I also loved how Danny kissed her after that--it was so simple, yet so sweet and romantic. It seemed like he had just decided right there that he truly did like Sam as more than just a friend and decided to go for it. Not only did I love the diologue and character development involved, it was also nice to see the ring make a comeback...because we all knew it really belonged to Sam. Personally, I would've liked to see a little more of a reaction from Sam after Danny gave her the ring--don't get me wrong, I almost cried when I saw Sam tear up, it was that sweet--but it would have been nice to hear her actually admit her feelings a little more than she did instead of it just becoming this mutual, understood thing all of a sudden.

I loved this episode...why else do you think I've spent over 400 words describing it so far? Overall, it was a truly amazing episode with an awesome plotline and a wonderful ending. It was very bittersweet, seeing as it was the end to my favorite show, but at least Danny Phantom left us with an amazing series finale.

Chase's Grandma
Avg Score: 8.87    Total Ratings: 75    Total Reviews: 23
From the beginning of the episode, I really wasn't expecting anything really special. I was expecting another uber-witty save from the way-too-perfect Zoey Brooks. But the ending of this episode definitely wasn't expected! For once there was a Zoey 101 episode that was actually fairly realistic and showed some real acting talent. Another thing I really liked about this episode was that it had to deal with death, a very serious and difficult problem that most regular shows wouldn't focus on. Recently I lost my grandfather, who I was really close to, and it's still hard to think about. I'm really proud of the writers for focusing on something that actually matters in life instead of getting a pimple or not having something cute to wear. It also showed some serious acting development, especially with Sean Flynn (Chase) and Christopher Massey (Michael). I was actually close to tears when I saw Chase and Zoey together like that, with Chase's head on Zoey's shoulder.

In conclusion, it was a beautifully written episode with an unexpected yet very sad ending. It's now my favorite episode.

I have my good points and my bad points about this show...

Good points:

-It's really cute. I mean, you have to admit that Alex is adorable. Especially in the movie when he was younger! Plus, the antics that happen in the show are always pretty cute.

-The Nat/Rosalina relationship. Okay, there can't be anyone out there who can resist something this perfect. Rosalina obviously has some feelings for Nat somewhere in her...she just hasn't discovered them yet. I always love watching episodes with romantic tension in them, and this is one of the cutest pairings I've EVER seen.

-The characters. I love a lot of them. They all have their own distinct personalities, which is good in a show. Alex is just plain cute, and it's funny to watch him think that he needs to worry about all these adult things when he doesn't actually need to. Nat is the responsible, always-thinks-things-through kind of guy, which (although he can sound kind of fake at times) is pretty cool.

----------

Now, my bad points. The biggest problem I have with this show is that it's just not realistic! It seems like if someone's making a show, they actually decide on ONE genre for it first! Half the time it tries to portray real life, but the other half is just littered with stuff that would NEVER HAPPEN. If they wanted to make a show about a band, it seems like it would be more realistic than this. My personal opinion is that you can't combine fantasy and realistic fiction in the same show, and that's what seems to be happening with this. Here are my reasons for thinking it's unrealistic: -The crowds. Ugh, now this one gets on my nerves. I've never seen an episode of this show where there's ANYONE who doesn't LOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEE them. Reality check, people: There is not a band that exists in this world that EVERYONE likes. There are going to be people out there who don't like them! And on the episode where Alex has his own clothing line? Puh-lease! Just because one member of some band comes out with a clothing line doesn't mean that every single person in the U.S. is going to like it!

-Nat's love life. Okay, I will admit that if I were a few years younger, I'd probably like him, too. But that doesn't mean every single girl in the world is madly in love with him! That's what it portrays on the show. It just isn't realistic!

-Not all adults are idiots. This happens often in kid shows, where kids are portrayed as better than adults...but this is ridiculous. Jesse's uber-ditzy, Nat and Alex's dad constantly acts like he's high on something, and even the principal (who only appears on one episode) is completely nuts! This just wouldn't happen in real life.

----------

This appears to be the kind of show that people either really, really love or really, really hate. However, I'm not either way about it. I don't love it, and I don't hate it. It's a decent show, and I do like watching new episodes when I can. But honestly, it would be a lot better if it didn't constantly mix real life and fantasy world.

Me in a nutshell: I'm Katherine. I'm 15 years old, but it certainly doesn't mean I'm too old to watch cartoons, because that's basically what I do all day (KATAANG PWNS ALL!). I'm probably the world's biggest geek, not only when it comes to what I watch but also due to the fact that I'm a computer nerd--I love pixel art and learning new HTML codes. I'm also an artist and a writer--drawing and writing are my two biggest passions. And last but not least, I'm a total hippie who absolutely adores animals.
