MY REVIEWS

  • show: Ben 10

    The Bottom Line: "Good"

Ben 10 is a great concept, kid finds watch, kid plays with watch, watch transforms kid into 10(or more) different alien forms. Unfortunately, the execution of the show could use some work. The main character is hard to like, he is a selfish 10 year old who is obsessed with people noticing him, which he achieves by doing heroics. Or, in some cases, he breaks the law to get what he wants, abusing his powers in turn. His characteristics fluctuate too often and he fails to become a better person as the series continues. Ben's companions, his grandfather and cousin, are stereotypes in their own rights. Grandpa Max is a strict disciplinarian, but fails to control Ben at all. Gwen is always fighting with Ben, siding with her grandfather and fails to stand out as a character, except when she adopts her hero personality, Lucky Girl. Too bad that has only happened twice in the series. The Villains in the show are ok, and some are better than others. Vilgax, while the most important villain in the first season, fails to become anything more than a big intimidating alien. Kevin 11 is the most intriguing villain, because of his lack of control and obsession with power. He seems like the person Ben would be without his grandfather. Overall, the show is enjoyable, but can get old and can be incredibly poorly written.

  • show: The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

This show is so great! Its very well done and the way the writers never forget about characters used in the series is great. Having the random characters show up is always great! The animation is top-notch in terms of 3D animation; much better than the animation in the movie. Too bad it didn't start out as a Nicktoon first, the movie would have been better.

  • show: Lost

episode: Man of Science, Man of Faith

    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

This episode was a great season premiere. It laid a great basis for the rest of the series, with a great plot for the hatch: why the Hell is Desmond even on the Island, and why is he Quarantined? But when Shannon saw Walt whipsering to her, does that mean that now he really is one of "the others" and since he was the only "other" that Shannon saw does that mean Rousseau can see Alex? Too bad there wasn't anything about the Raft survivors. Since this episode covered a few days, the next episode should as well, but centering around the Raft's survivors. This was a great episode all around: well written, creepy, and still leaving us in the dark about the hatch.

    9.8
