Some may be fuming after yesterdays visit to TV.com, where they found out there the fave TV show may not after all be renewed. Fans of Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone will have nothing to look forward to come January.
ABC did not make a smart decision this time around, canceling three completely different shows, but all of which made their weekly lineup fun. Two of these shows happen to fall on Wednesday night. To ask ABC one question, what do you have left for Wednesday night. Private Practice which throughout most of this season had only a few more viewers than Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money. That does not seem fair. As a fan of PD myself I received the worst news possible yesterday. And like fans of a show canceled to soon, I would like to know why? Why PD when they didn't run an ad for it almost all season. Who's fault is that ABC. No one is going to tune if you don't run ads for it. Why PD when most networks have been struggling this year after the Writers Guild of America strike last season.
ABC had to make a choice, I am not arguing with that. There are shows they have had for almost 5 years, like Grey's Anatomy, which have won Emmy's. PD last year alone was nominated for 12, more than Greys and Ugly Betty combined. What seems fair about that? PD was said to be one the greatest TV shows in years, and they debuted with 13.7 million viewers last year. One little rough patch and see you later. Sometimes without risks in life, you will not go anywhere.
I lost a lot of respect for ABC as a prime time network and after January, they really have nothing to offer me anymore. They canceled one of two shows I tune into regularly, and probably the greatest show I have ever tuned into week in and week out. Thank you ABC for not taking a chance on show that got you 12 Emmy nominations just 3 months ago. Thank you ABC for not running ads and then giving up on it.
I must say thanks to Brian Fuller for creating magic for these past two seasons and I hope you get your comic book deal. Or maybe even a movie.
The Facts are these, ABC just canceled pure magic.
