Critical Discourse?
I suddenly had an urge to be the one Media Studies guy who was all up in TV.com quoting Hegel and Strauss. Maybe I've been reading too much Baudrillard's Bastard lately and this is just a passing phase. I guess time will tell -- i DID just get a new tv after all.

A comedy series based around the insecurities of a straight white middle class male. Wow, what an easy way to create a show! Lets riff of stereotypes and call it a series! This show should be taken off the air as it is clearly propoganda for the conservative upper class.

The Prisoner Living in Harmony Avg Score: 8.08 Total Ratings: 38 Total Reviews: 5 |
At first this episode seems like its going to be a dog. Harmony reminds me of several episodes of Star Trek during the original series in which several of the red-shirts end up on a planet who's people are identical to Earths wild west years.
Classic Prisoner mind games and plot twists make this episode refreshingly different although still stimulating and totally intriguing.

An excellent example of Prisoner-esque writing and demonstrates just how well the writers understood the conventions of television.
Number 6 meets his maker, and his maker meets him.
This episode is a culmination of all the double meanings presented in grand fashion. Worth a good look for anyone studying communication and postmodernism.

The 4400 Voices Carry Avg Score: 8.68 Total Ratings: 426 Total Reviews: 8 |
The portrayal of Gary Navarro's telepathic ability as debilitating was very interesting. I loved the fact that hes power was so new to him that he could not control or focus it and ended up hearing EVERYONES thoughts. Very mysterious and interesting, but thet fact that NTAC is pimping him out makes me wonder if there will be more action on the part of the 4400 against NTAC.

Maybe I just have a thing for the southern gothic/horror story (ala Texas Chainsaw Massacre), but the freaked-out doomsayer in the long dark coat, wide rimmed hat and two creepy "sons" were down right scary. That they had to chase Richard and Lily through the woods was particulary nerve wracking, but they payoff is great!!
