All the DigiDestined from around the globe arrived on the scene, their Digivices glowing. The kidnapped kids saw all the Digimon, and wanted to have a Digimon partner as well, saying that without one, what use were they? MaloMyotismon used this darkness to grow even stronger. T.K. and Davis told the kids to cheer up or MaloMyotismon woud get even stronger. The kidnapped kids told of their wildest and most positive dreams, which caused Myotismon to start to disintegrate. They gave words of encouragement to the good Digimon and Malomyotismon's mid-body vaporized! A boy jumped from hiding. The others followed. There were glows, and Fresh Digimon appeared: Punimon, Botamon, Poyomon, SnowBotamon and Pabumon. They jumped into their new partners' arms and the kids all got D-3s! MaloMyotismon completely vaporized, but darkness flooded the sky. All the DigiDestined an Digimon gave Imperialdramon Fighter Mode more power! He gained a weapon and used his Giga Crusher technique to obliterate the shadow left by MaloMyotismon. Gennai came to Gatomon; he gave her her holy tail ring! Kari and Gatomon were happy. Cody ran off into the aurora, and Ken and Kari discussed the nature of the other world, and how the Dark Ocean must be a combination of that world and the dark thoughts of a person. Then, a little green Digimon appeared. It was Oikawa's Digimon! Oikawa and everyone was amazed. Oikawa remembered his past. Gennai came up and told Cody that Oikawa was about to die. Cody was sad by what he said. Oikawa's body started to glow and then vaporized. Cody was saddened. Dimitrimon shared his sorrow as well. Oikawa flew away as butterflies. The DigiWorld was finally returned to peace. In the year 2027, T.K. finished writing a novel. About the adventures in the Digital World! T.K.'s son walked in. It was time to go. They left their house and went to... The Digital World. The kids of the DigiDestined were going to play with their Digimon. Their parents said to be careful and the usual. And they ran around and had fun in the Digital World.

The episode picks up with the Z fighters in astonishment of Cell’s return to life, and that Trunks had been blasted so unexpectedly by Cell. Goku, on Snake Way, asks King Kai how Cell can be alive; yet even King Kai doesn't know how Cell survived his own “self detonation”. Cell, enjoying all of the fear he's caused in all of the Z fighters, explains that he survived the explosion because each Cell is independent. Cell exploded, yet one of his cells were still alive... one cell, which is all that's needed to transform back into his former self. Not only did the living Cell grow into a full body for Cell, but it “remembered” Cell’s perfect form, and therefore transformed him into it rather than his normal form.

Gohan seems fearless, still. He rises to the challenge of defeating Cell once again, and this time for his father, Goku, who had died in the blast that Cell had caused. Vegeta now starts thinking about what had just happened to Goku; to Trunks. Vegeta finally realizes that Trunks had been protecting him through all of this, and had always been there for him; yet he ignored Trunks. This causes Vegeta to charge up to Cell, and in a blur of anger, Vegeta unleashes a TON of Rapid Fire at Cell, creating a huge cloud of smoke. Vegeta waits back to see if the demon is still alive, and then continues his Rapid Fire rage! Once Vegeta stands back, to see the smoke clear, a healthy Cell emerges and quickly attacks
Cell stating, “It's not over until I say it's over... and it's over now!” Cell slaps Vegeta to the ground, then releases a powerful blast right at Vegeta, yet Gohan dodges right in front of Vegeta, and takes the heat of the blast. Cell stands back to admire his job... with Gohan lying on top of Vegeta to protect him. Suddenly, Gohan starts to stand and faces Cell.
Gohan is obviously extremely weak and tired, yet refuses to give up, even though there are no Senzu Beans remaining. With the abled Z fighters now down, Gohan has to fight Cell by himself no matter what… Now Cell aims his arms at Gohan as if to perform a “Kamekameha” at Gohan...

Just after Android 16 tells him to follow his instincts and not to suppress his feelings anymore Cell crushes the Android. This is the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak. This pushes Gohan to the limit and finally Gohan shows his true self..... And with it the unleashing begins! This is where you really find out why Goku in previous episodes acted so calm because he was the only person to know the true ability of his son. Cell tells him to let go so he can see Gohan’s true power and in the process underestimating how powerful he can become! Cell is holding a bag of senzu beans which Gohan snatches in the blink of an eye which leaves Cell guessing on how he did it. Gohan then goes on to defeat all of the Cell Juniors single handedly!

The Cell Jr's ferociously attack the Z-fighters, while Gohan looks on helplessly as his friends and family are beaten and battered. Gohan is too afraid to handle Cell on his own, and won't let his anger control him. Cell orders his miniature blue warriors to kill Gohan's friends, which just sends Gohan's power spiraling upwards, but it's still not enough. Meanwhile, Android 16 seeks the help of Hercule so that he can have one final word with Gohan. Hercule grants his wish and throws android 16's head towards Gohan. Gohan, stunned that he is still alive, listens to his final words, "Drop your restraints, protect the life I loved." Afterwards, Cell crushes Android 16's head and it's too much for the young super Saiyan to bare, Gohan begins to power up, and even Cell looks worried.

Arukenimon and Mummymon seek out the Destiny Stone, hoping the legends are true of its existence. When they find it, they create Knightmon who begins to attack it. The DigiDestined arrive to try to stop its destruction and Arukenimon and Mummymon join the battle. Knightmon manages to break one of the seals, causing BlackWarGreymon, who was talking with Agumon peacefully, a great deal of pain. He takes off suddenly, leaving Agumon to wonder what is going on. BlackWarGreymon arrives at the battle scene while Arukenimon and Mummymon run away. He destroys Knightmon, making the DigiDestined wonder whose side he is on. But before they have a chance to ask, he turns on them, knocking them all down to the lower stages and then turns on the Destiny Stone, destroying it. A great catastrophe is supposed to fall upon the Digital World when it is destroyed according to its prophecy...
