Bad Luck at work...

So yesterday I started my new job. I got there at around eight o'clock and ended up waiting till nine in order to get into the offices as they all start working late. Then my new boss called to say he would be in very late as his child is sick and the other person that was supposed to train me didn't show up either! Then, the computer guy who was supposed to give me a password and all, decided he was coming in late and some other guy that tried to help me ended up working for about an hour on my computer to get it working. So I ended up spending all morning reviewing files that were left for me and some nice girl ordered lunch for me and at twelve o'clock I joined the employees for lunch on the ping pong table... The lunch I ordered was awful, I ordered chinese chicken with sauce that ended up being very spicey and the chicken had like very hard chunky parts, anyway, it was gross.

The rest of the day seemed to be going well, my boss showed up and gave me a list of things he wanted me to take care of, and then about an hour later he introduced me to another group of people and said that they were from a different company that sat in their offices and that I would be given them administrative assistant too. Not really keen on giving admin assistance to two different companies, things always end up clashing and projects end up not getting done. I probably wouldnt have taken the job had I known that to begin with (bad pointer for me new boss for not sharing the information during the interview). But anyway, I decided for the time being to give it a try and see how things work out. It's not my ideal job, but I need the money so it'll have to do, the only problem is that I'm sick with fever now and it's really going to reflect poorly on me, not showing up on my second day of employment... I hope the rest of the week proves to be a bit more positive.

G'night.

Goodbye old job, hellooooo new job!!!

TODAY WAS MY LAST DAY AT MY OLD JOB AND ON MONDAY I START MY NEW JOB!!!

Today was my last day of employment at my old job. All the employees, except for my x-boss who was away, took me to lunch and it was great, we had a blast. We ate at this BBQ joint and had a good laugh (and a couple of beers). Rhonda came with us, but you know what, she sat on the far end of our table and didn't bother me at all. I kinda feel sorry for her now because she's going to have work with my weird boss, which I'm sure won't be easy, even for her.

I left work early so that I could begin my weekend a tiny bit earlier. Tomorrow we're off to my mother for the traditional Schnitzels, Sunday it's to the pool and Monday my new job with a nice boss who called yesterday to check if all was well with me and if I will be starting my new employment on Sunday.

Thank you for your kind words and support throughout the past weeks.

Peace!

Highlights from yesterday - on the job front

A few highlights from yesterday...

Rhonda sent the whole company an email saying that anyone that sent me an email over the passed 24 hours should resend it to her and avoid sending me emails from now on.

I left early and so called her a few hours later to see that everything was OK (why? I don't know, cause I'm stupid I guess) Her answer was (instead of thanking me) "why would anything be wrong and, don't I trust her after working with her for over a week". (in short NO).

And last but not least, She actually thinks she's invited to my farewell party, which I haven't even decided if I'm having and well, if I'll have one she won't be participating, that's for sure.

And now for the main topic...A farewell Party.

My friends here, which is everyone except for my new boss, Rhonda and the CEO, really want to have a farewell party for me (you know the basic gig: a cakes, a toast etc.) and I told them already at the beginning of the week that I'm not interested seeing that I'm not leaving under happy circumstances. So they're answer was that they're my friends and that they want a chance to say goodbye and, that my boss is out of the office and therefore won't be able participate. However, the CEO is here and Rhonda, is here too. I have till tomorrow morning to make up my mind. On the one hand it could be nice, but on the other hand, I'm very annoyed with this whole situation which has been dragging on for so long and I've reached the end of my rope, all I want is out of here.

Your thoughts are appreciated!

Hellooo to all of you that are following my work saga blogs...

So, I sat with Ronda, my replacement at work, yesterday all day long and boy was it a long day! Basically I found out that she's actually not such an unpleasant person as I thought she was to begin with, or maybe I've just gotten used to her. If you recall, last week I was pretty surprised that there were some regular administrative duties that Ronda didn't know how to do, well yesterday I was shocked to discover that the situation was even worse that I had assumed at the beginning. Apparently she felt comfortable enough yesterday to discuss other administrative related things that she doesn't know how to do, which is very surprising seeing that she's worked in the administrative field before and, frankly, I'm quite surprised my boss hired her for the job, seeing that she's totally under qualified and, the job description I prepared for him to use when recruiting my replacement, included all the issues she lacks experience in.

What I didn't state in the job description is that whoever is hired should know to use the office package and especially Outlook (email, calendar, contacts etc.). Now anyone that's ever worked in an administrative position knows that the basic administrative tools include sending emails, sometimes arranging meetings etc. Granted, until my new and very weird boss arrived, I never had to schedule a meeting for anyone as the people in my company do most everything on their own, as it should be, but he's more primitive and requires more basic administrative help, so yesterday I ended up explaining how to use Outlook (more than once). But my biggest surprise was yet to come... and actually not related to her skills at all.

I got talking with her and she told me, she was very surprised that I was so nice to her given the fact that my employment was terminated. So I asked her what exactly was she told and she said that my boss told her that my employment was terminated because of the merge with the other company, but then they regretted it, asked me to stay on, but I refused to stay on as I had already found a job!!! Now those of you that have read my previous job related blogs know that this is totally completely and utterly untrue. My boss was a liar! I was so shocked from what she had said that for a second I thought to myself maybe I'm loosing it and I don't remember that he actually asked me to stay on, but after a quick reality check I came back to the same conclusion, my boss is a liar on top of many other things. I have know idea what made him say that, I suppose it could be that he wanted Ronda to think he's a considerate boss, or something like that and I suppose he didn't think I'd actually have a conversation with her which was not related to the things I had to teach her, but still, he should have realized this would happen. The truth always comes out at some point.

Anyway, I need to think how and what to do with this information. I'd love to make him feel very uncomfortable, but first of all he's on vacation all week so I'm not going to see him again before I leave and second I'm fresh out of creative ideas after spending half the night awake with my baby, so any creative ideas would be appreciated.

One thing that did happen relating to what my boss told Ronda, is that even Ronda is now aware of the fact that our boss is a difficult person who she should try to keep her distance from, as much as possible.

As for today, once at work, I intend to leave Ronda on her own and go sit somewhere else and work on my novel. She's supposed to be able to do everything by now, at least to some degree and this will be her test.

I'm going to sleep now, if my baby lets me... so goodnight to y'all.

Later!

On the job front - another week in hell

I had a meeting with my boss today and once again asked to be let go today. I told him that Ronda would be fine on her own as I had taught her everything she needs to know and that I would be available by phone if she had any questions. My boss refused to let me go. He said that as he was on vacation for the entire upcoming week I would have to stay on another full week and supervise Ronda.

At least I won't have to see his sorry face this upcoming week...

In case I don't write tomorrow, wishing all of you a great weekend!!!

Michael Moorcock
Avg Score: 10.00    Total Ratings: 1    Total Reviews: 1
Michael Moorcock is by far one of my favorite authors. His Eternal Champion series is, in my opionion, one of the best fantasy series available and while I enjoy reading Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Zelazny, I admit Michael's stories have an edge to them that I find lacking in the others and which puts his stories in a league of their own. While my favorite Eternal Champion has always been Erekose, though he has fewer stories written about him in comparison to the other heroes such as Elric, Corum and Hawkmoon, I found that each one of Michael's Eternal Champions is intriguing and special in his own way and combined together, make the Eternal Champion series one of the best.

In addition to that I've had the pleasure of corresponding with Michael Moorcock a few years ago and must admit that he is one of the most interesting, intellectual and fascinating people I have ever had the pleasure to correspond with. In addition to being an amazing author who, unlike most authors, is almost always available to his fans through his website, he's a very worldly person who is involved and interested in many different activities taking place around the world, whether it be related to politics, civil rights of minorities or animal related issues, Michael is involved, interested and voices his opinion. Michael, in his own way is like all his Eternal Champions combined together. A voice in the dark against all chaos. Absolutely the best!

Jericho
Patriots.And.Tyrants (Alternative Ending)
Avg Score: 9.85    Total Ratings: 8    Total Reviews: 2
The last Jericho episode was titled Patriots and Tyrants. It was filmed with two separate endings. The original episode ended with a cliff hanger to be resolved in the third season and the second ending, closed as many loose ends as possible so that the amazing Jericho fans with their constant fight and refusal to let the show die won't be left in a lurch. Towards the end of the second season, as the crew already knew the series was not going to be renewed for it's third season they released the second ending which, as I said, made an attempt to tie up loose ends. The episode was aired on March 25, 2008. The episode was great and, disappointing. Why disappointing? Because while watching it I knew that chances are that there would be no more Jericho and that the episode I was watching was the last Jericho episode I would see and that all that would be left of the great show was the constant debates in the forums on what should be done, what could have been done and wild speculations as to what will happen to the show. Much to my excitement, about a week ago the original ending was released on the internet. I'm quite sure the studio released it , or that it was released with their consent as a final attempt to draw more fans and, most important, other networks, to the show.

At first I thought that there was a mistake and that I was watching the previously released episode but then (spoilers ahead) when they get into the van and go to the airport it all changes. Hawkins gets out of the van and blows up the radar tower while Jake heads out to the plane. Then Hawkins sacrifices himself so that Jake can get away. He's then captured and taken to prison while Jake heads back to Texas. Where he plans together with Chavez to rescue Hawkins. What a great episode! I love Jericho.

Jeff Fahey
Avg Score: 9.22    Total Ratings: 21    Total Reviews: 2
Jeff Fahey, at the age of 56, with his messy beard and untidy grayish hair still has the same alluring presence he had on screen twenty years ago. With his haunting blue eyes and handsome roguish look, he has, in his appearance in Lost developed a cult of Lost followers who treasure him as one of the finest additions to the Lost series and hope to see more of him over the upcoming seasons.

Part of Jeff's charm is his mysterious mannerism. Not much is known about Jeff except for his extensive biography detailing mostly his travel abroad in his youth. I have found that the same biography circulates on almost every website that holds his biography with no additional information available. As the editor of his page on www.tv.com I read and re-read the few interviews I found on the web in order to collect tiny tidbits about the man, then I went into all the chats, message boards, websites etc. related to him and collected whatever I could find that seemed interesting. Though there's hardly any information about him, it's been fascinating and captivating. I love a good mystery and Jeff is a great one. Not to mention that his extensive travel to Afghanistan to build and support an orphanage and to promote women's rights just adds to the man charm.

The only fault I can find with him is his choice of movies. He is, not doubt, a very talented actor, as can be seen in the 1990 movie White Hunter, Black Heart (which is my personal favorite Jeff Fahey movie), The Lawnmower Man (1992), The Marshal (1995), Planet Terror (2007) and of course Lost (the 4th season) which makes it all the harder to understand why, he would choose to participate in movies such as Scorpius Gigantus (2006) or Absolute Zero (2005) which I recently watched. The plot of Absolute Zero's story, though scientifically entirely incorrect was interesting enough, but the acting was just awful. I think other than Jeff's character, all the other characters were extremely shallow, the cast was poorly chosen and some of the actors/actresses should never have been allowed to participate in any movie. There are a few other examples of poorly chosen movies but it doesn't really matter, because on a scale from 1 to 10, I'll still give Jeff a full 10 because there's just something about him. It's uncanny, but I'll admit it, there's something about his presence that will make me sit through his movies, even be it a low budget B movie, with a cast that does not know how to act.

After last week's episode, which was far from perfect, I give this episode a full 10! First of all Jack hardly appeared in this episode – which was great, cause I'm kinda getting tired of him. Not that I have anything against him, and I will always like him cause of Party of Five, but still enough is enough. I loved the whole cabin search part of the episode intertwined with flashbacks to John's childhood. Ben's dialogue was brilliant as always and Hurley was entertaining as usual. Big surprise to find Claire in the cabin. I'm betting that she was wounded pretty badly in the explosion and that she actually died, which would explain why her father took her with him. But still, I can't explain that weird smirk she had on her face when John approached her. Weird.

The interaction on board the ship was pretty intense and very interesting (I really hate Keamy). One small mystery was at last solved as we got to see how the creepy Doctor ended up washed on the shore with a slit throat. And once again, we discover that Michael can't die (what a shame, he's really getting on my nerves). I can't believe the Captain was killed. He was actually one of the nicer people aboard the ship and I was hoping we'd see more of him. Can't wait for next week's episode!!!

On a side note, Desmond is my favorite character and has been since he joined the show, but, I have to admit that Frank Lapidus (Jeff Fahey) is slowly taking over that spot with his small but excellent appearances throughout the past episodes. He's just an amazing. I loved the way he tried to refuse to take Keamy on the chopper and how he threw the satellite phone out of the chopper for the survivors. I just hope we get to see more his story and that he doesn't end up like the captain.

New Amsterdam
Love Hurts
Avg Score: 8.84    Total Ratings: 118    Total Reviews: 4
So, here are my two cents on the show:

Definitely an improvement in comparison to last week's episode. First of all, John Amsterdam's realized that the annoying doctor (Dr. Sara Dillane) is not the one and gets rid of her! I never liked her character and something about the actress just irritated me. So I say good riddance. Also, it was nice to see more of his past, which is what I enjoy most about the show. It was especially nice to see his past as a bad guy (a con artist). However, I do feel that the character of "the one" should have somehow already been introduced into the show (obviously without John knowing who she is) and of the two possible women, his partner (Eva Marquez ) and his boss (Detective Sergeant Callie Burnett), none seem to me to be the right character for the part. All in all, the episode was an improvement and I'm sure I'll end up watching the first episode of the second season, should the show be picked up for a second season, but, I have a feeling that the show will not be renewed. Like I mentioned before, the idea is great, but the episodes were not special enough to warrant a second season. And while the main actor, is cute in his own way, I'm not sure that he's the right choice for this series. I think the producers should have gone with a more familiar actor, which could have led the show a bit differently.

Eternal vs. Karathress

Somewhat of a boring video due to the repetitiveness, but my favorite fight in SSC. Song is "On the Run" by Tillmann Uhrmacher.
