The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

The Tonight Show was on a roll when it came back on after 2 months of reruns, then it stumbled with this less than spectacular episode. The monologue was so so, with 2 or 3 jokes that got the crowd going. With the absence of writers, Jay had to resort to some elementary school students and their New Year's resolutions for his next bit. Some were funny, but the whole bit was really painful and pitiful to watch.

The first guest Jarod Miller, brought out some animals for Jay to interact with, but geez, I bet the audience focused all their attention to the animals, rather than what Jarod and Jay were talking about--I know I did. The second guest, the stand up John Caparulo, I think, actually saved the show from going completely downhill. The guy was funny, but I don't understand why he seems like he's drunk when we performs.

The previous 2 episodes were very refreshing with the fact that it was running with no writers yet the show was hilarious; then this aired, which makes me wonder is this how The Tonight Show will really be without its writers?

Keen Eddie
Avg Score: 8.54    Total Ratings: 278    Total Reviews: 14
It's been 3 years since this show premiered. Sadly, it wasn't taken seriously. First, it was pre-empted, then went on hiatus, and finally cancelled. Bravo picked it up but only lasted 13 episodes. To start, this show was very original and funny in it's own way. The concept of having an American cop transfered to London's Scotland Yard was surely asking for a clash of egos and comedic situations. Mark Valley's character of Eddie is as American as you can get. The character Pippen, although, may seem to be a British stereotype, nonetheless, compliments Eddie's character as a comedic and dynamic duo.

What a way to begin this new reality show. I can't believe there are actual people who dress up in costumes and would want to be real superheroes...that's awesome!! It was really interesting to hear the background of the aspiring superheroes and each have different motivations and intentions on being on the show. I really like how clever the show is. First by having a character named "Rotiart" Traitor spelled backwards act as a spy for comicbook genius Stan Lee. By having a spy, Lee was able to see some of the real intentions of the contestants. The highlight was the challenge where they had to find a place to change into their costumes and reach the goal the fastest time...or so the contestants thought. Really awesome.

I'm not a big fan of reality shows especially the likes of Temptation Island or any other that involves the contestants to act like prostitutes. I like reality shows that actually make the contestants prove that they have talent. One of the ways they can do that is...by cooking. Having enjoyed the first season of Hell's Kitchen I couldn't wait for season 2. And it does not disappoint. Not only do we get back the less than "nice" Master Chef Ramsey but we get new contestants who are just as good as the first season's contestants. By the time I type this review we are left with 4 contestants but I have yet to see 2 finalists emerging. I guess I just have to tune in.

I must say these reality-shows are getting clever every minute. I'm not really a fanatic but some are alright. Hell's Kitchen is one of my favorites. Now, Who Wants to be a Superhero?, though barely on the air for one day has proven itself worthy to be in my "alright reality-show" list. First, the "superheroes" are very diverse in their characters. Each of them with their own gimmicks and costumes. Second, Stan Lee provides a very legitimate "mentor" for the heroes. Third, the challenges that they must accomplish demonstrates and exposes what being a "superhero" is all about. Can't wait for more.
