MY REVIEWS

  • show: Fear Factor

    The Bottom Line: "Bad"

Fear Factor is a really bad concept show and doesn't deserve to be renewed for more episodes. Sure the money is good but there seems to be a certain type of people that actually appears on the show.

I find Fear Factor idiotic. Admitedly, I wouldn't have the stomach to eat bugs but who really cares? Why eat bugs and raw organs of animals? You would've thought they could come up with something more interesting than those repetitive tasks.

The stunts are mainly about being afraid of heights and/or being afraid of falling into water. Stupid and predictable.

It's suppose to be about fear, not being grossed out of doing something.

I'm happy this awful show only takes up a very very late night timeslot on my local cable.

  • person: Jensen Ackles

    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

Jensen is great-looking and stars in Supernatural. Although I wish I could say more than that, I honestly can't because I really haven't seen him in any other shows besides Supernatural. Maybe he'll do some random guest spots on other shows. I watch Supernatural on occasion because it's boasted on the CityTV commercials that it's "hot guys, hot show. Supernatural". Mark Dailey is so right!

Based on what I've seen of Jensen on Supernatural, I would say he needs some work on his acting ability. Either it's naturally how the character Dean is suppose to be or it's Jensen. Jensen in the character Dean is always so serious and even when he makes jokes and pranks, he always has that serious experession. The character Dean is so dry, it's hilarious.

Okay, now I'm scared because Jensen has apparently listed his favourite athlete as Steve Nash. Jensen is crazy!

Although, I do love a man who says "lovely". I giggle, I giggle.

  • show: Battlestar Galactica (2003)

    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

It took me a while, more precisely after the first two seasons finished airing, to begin watching this show. I had seen a few Battlestar Galactica images throughout TV.com but paid no mind to it because I wasn't that fully interested in the Sci-Fi genre.

However, I finally read a little of the plot for this show and I knew I just had to watch it. I ended up loving Battlestar Galactica in the first few episodes. Although, I did think there was a tad too much sex between Gaius and Number 6...but anyways.

The nuclear explosion scene with Gaius being told to duck down by Number 6 was pretty cool. I like how that was shot because the explosion just came at all sides, almost horizontally.

I loved the music in this show, especially in the beginning of each episode there is piano. The notes in that piece of music are so simple but it sounds so great.

I also thought the editting for the scenes was amazing. Scenes with flashbacks to Boomer, Calee+Chief, Starbuck+Anders, and the others were wonderfully done.

There are many characters that I can't help but dislike/resent a little. For example, Lee. At first I thought he was an intriguing character but he seems to be getting more predictable and more of a jerk. Lee can get pretty annoying. When he basically took Dee away from Billy, I was hurt for Billy. I don't like how Dee treated Billy. Everyone should just be honest with each other.

Cylons are interesting to learn about especially their odd...can I say obsession? with religion. Religion obviously carries a heavy weight for the Cylons and the need to get rid of sin. It seems like a Christian value but a ton of things from Caprica can be found on Earth so who knows.

The two Cylons considered heroes of the Cylons, Gaius' number 6 and Sharon, continue to make me convinced that Cylons and humans can really live together peacefully. Although, humans are extremely flawed creatures and will continue to be no matter what we try to do.

I am eagerly awaiting for another season of Battlestar Galactica. After watching two whole seasons including the miniseries in only 5 or 6 days, I feel like the episodes weren't long enough. Hopefully there will be many seasons to come.

  • show: Modern Men

    episode: Pilot

    The Bottom Line: "Perfect"

The first episode of Modern Men was exactly what I expected: entertaining. I usually don't listen to what critics say about shows and I was very right in ignoring the critics on this one.

Kyle is the really shallow guy who always goes for younger women. Doug is the poor guy that can't seem to move on from his ex-wife. Tim is the guy who can't stay in a relationship.

These characters are completely lovable. I adore Doug, the divorced guy because he's so funny and sweet. The scene where he is reading the poem he writes into the intercom got me wondering why his ex-wife was so stupid.

Kyle's scene with the girl who only wanted him for his body was predictable enough but it still worked in the episode. Kyle was getting what he deserved but awww, I still wanted to hug him when he was in her bed and she was leaving him alone at her apartment.

I didn't really like Jane Seymour in this episode. There could be room for improvement there. Otherwise, great episode and I can't wait to watch the next episode of Modern Men.

  • person: Amanda Seyfried

    The Bottom Line: "Great"

Watching Amanda on the big screen and small screen is entertaining. She brings much needed enthusiasm to her roles I've seen her in: Mean Girls, Veronica Mars, and House.

However, I hope in future roles Amanda doesn't get stuck in the ditzy/crazy blonde girl typecast. She does play that part extremely well, I must say, but I would like to see more than that side of her acting.

I was surprised to read that she was on the cover of the Sweet Valley books because I loved that series. That is pretty cool.

Amanda lost out to Kirsten Bell for the lead role in Veronica Mars and I can see why. She appears to fit more into Lily Kane but one day she'll break out of that ditzyness and into the rougher, just a little bit more serious roles.

I have high hopes about Amanda Seyfried.
