I honestly believe I got the luck of the draw this semester. Luckily enough, I only had to take one mid term this semester for my World Religions class. It's a pretty interesting class (it's my big auditorium class) and the mid term wasn't that hard. I honestly believe I got a solid B on it. It wasn't until the very end when I started having some trouble. Once question in particular asked to name an American Icon. Maybe because the way it was worded, I went brain dead. Not wanting to leave it blank, I just put Chuck Norris (Hulk Hogan was my second choice ). After class it then dawned on me, "Oh yeah, they wanted a symbol of religion in America."

Oh well, I know I passed anyway.

Farewell PSP by Lionheart08

So I went to Gamespot over the past few days, trading in my PSP and several games. While I did like my PSP, it was no longer working as it used to so i figured I could always get a new PSP in the future (especially since the 3000 is coming out soon.) They had a deal going where I'd get an extra $20 back. Overall, here's what I parted with;

All together I got over $120 worth of store credit. So I decided to buy several games on my hitlist. I got Okami (PS2) Kirby: Super Star Ultra, Mario 64 DS, and I completed my Persona 4 preorder (I previously only had $5 payed for).

So in my previous wishlist, I guess I'll replace Kirby with like Final Fantasy IV or some other DS game.

With my PSP official bricked I have one less platform to buy games for this year. Despite that however, there's still quite a bit of games out there for me to buy. There are four games that are absolute must buys, 2 for DS and 2 for PS2. I also plan to finally make the plunge and get and Xbox 360. I made a deal with my parents that I'd chip in and the three of us would buy me a 360 for Christmas. But with all the new downloadable options I have no idea whether to invest in a 60GB or an Elite.

In the case of the 360, I'm only going to be able to get one of the three games I've posted. I Gears 2, Fable 2, and Banjo because those are the 360 games I want most this year. It's all of a matter of just picking one. Even if I don't get a 360 this year, between my PS2 and DS, I should have a very enjoyable time for the rest of the year.

Jack Thompson has officially be Pwn'd. Everyone's favorite loyal just got disbarred. So what does this mean? Hopefully, no more ridiculous video game lawsuits. While I try not to poke fun at others misfortunes, Jack Thompson was far to unprofessional,, so I can't say I'm shocked or sad to see this happen. So I really find this perfect for the situation.

Either that or all these Essays for school are starting to get to me. I've been trying to review more games lately, but I just can't get myself to completing theme. Interesting enough, it sure hasn't stoped me from blogging. Maybe it's just because I try to be thorough with my reviews instead of just writing a single paragraph about why I loved this game, "It is FTW!"

But yeah, time to take myself off the pedestal. I still have a ways to go before they become real high quality. So yeah, if you can, read, rate, and critique please. I kinda have a passion for being a critic, (which explains my frequent blogging ) and I can use some advice and criticism on how to increase the quality of my reviews.

Never in my life have I ever been so happy to be back in my room. It's not that I've a had a bad day. I'm just tired as a mug. Well today, I got my refund check back from the school. It;s kinda weird because I got a part of it back a couple of weeks ago and now this part today. For the most part, I plan to use it to buy a bike so I can get around easier. But of course, with money comes games. I decided to trade in a couple of PSP games (MH2, R&C: SM, PQ, and Burnout) and got $35 dollars back. Seeing how much money I was getting back I decided to get a game for my DS, but I had a problem; DQ IV or FFIV. I decided to go with Dragon Quest.

I also decided to do a preorder (which I rarely do) for Persona 4. I have a feeling this game will be a pain to find later on so yeah I feel pretty good about it.

I also went to a party today mainly about USF's game against FIU. It started out strong but the ending was weak. We won 17-9 but the game just was not that good. I had fun at the party though. I just got back so I'm about to start playing some DQIV.

Chrono Trigger DS: Is it Ripoff? by Lionheart08

As a big RPG, I did a double take early this year when I found out Chrono Trigger was going to be released on the DS. I've been wanting to play this game for ages, but I was too young at the time it was released on the SNES. While I'm glad I'll finally get my shot to play it this winter, there's only big glaring problem; it's a straight port getting charged at full price.

Seriously, Square is really ripping off people with this. While I'm really ethusiastic to play the game, it really should not be sold for more than $30 since it's nothing more than a port. I mean, I believe only an extra dungeon is being added to the game. So now I'm proposed with the problem over whether I should by it or not. I really want to play the game, but then by buying it, it only encourages Square Enix to charge outrageous prices for ported games.

What the heck Tecmo? by Lionheart08

For those who have not been following the recent news, Tecmo decided to turn down Square Enix's friendly bid, instead opting to merge with Koei. Seriously Tecmo, Koei? Now I don't normally bash game developers, but Koei has to be one of the most laziest developers out there. I mean, we all throw the word rehash fairly lighted, especially when bashing a company (Square Enix and Nintendo are normally the prime targets.) In reality though, Koei has got to be the king of the rehashes. Dynasty Warrior is basically a copy and paste job with a few lackluster extra features with each new game.

But I digress, this blog isn't specifically meant to bash Koei, just to think what exactly does a Koei/Tecmo merger mean. In all honesty, I see absolutely no benefits on Tecmo's part. Like I said, Koei is essential a copy and paste developer. I don't see how Koei could help improve the NG frachise (or the new IP's Tecmo has up it's sleeve.) Really, the only benefit I see Tecmo getting out of this deal is denying SE's buyout.

But don't get me wrong, this isn't meant to be a Tecmo should've merged with Final Fantasy blog. I'm just saying, Kingdom Hearts with Ninja Gaiden inspired gameplay, Lulu and Tifa in Xtreme Beach Volley Ball, hell, Dead Fantasy: The Video Game would've been epic.

So I gotta ask you Tecmo, did you really despise Sony that much that you'd resort to merging with Koei?

I got one class today at 2:00. It's only 50 minutes, so after that, I would've made it completely through my first week. I gotta say, it's no wonder why they call college life "The Best Years". Seriously, I'm honestly loving every moment. On Wednesday, we had movies on the lawn where they played Ironman on I giant screen and yesterday, at The Sun Dome (our gigantic stadium) we had a pep rally/comedy show. To My surprise some of the cast of Reno 911 (The Racist Cop and the Black Cop) performed some standup comedy which was terrific.

My classes are pretty tough, but I'll get through them as long as I maintain a good schedule. I've pretty much fallen in love with my class schedule. I take 4 classes (15 hours in total) my only tough day is Monday, which has me going 12 PM - 7PM. After Monday though the rest of the week is a breeze for me. Like I said, I only hae 50 minutes of class today. I've been getting along with my Dormmates nicely and really like my room (free HBO ftw!). I also applied for Student Work Study, so I should be getting a job soon. I also seem to be shedding some pounds from all the walking I've been do

Okay enough about college, I haven't talked about games for like 4 blogs now. Looking back, I remembered doing a blog on my Top 10 favorite PS2 games. Since, I've bought, played, and owned more games on my PS2. I'm sort of disgusted on the way my list went in the long run so I plan to make a new one in the future.

I guess my teachers weren't kidding when they said college would be a lot different than High School. I went to three of my four classes today (my fourth one is tomorrow) and it was quite the experience. All of my professors have totally different teaching styles. My classes are Geography of Current Events (or Globalization as he likes to call it), Pre Calculus, Composition, and World Religions.

Geography of Current Events really looks to be the toughest of my classes so far. It's more lecture based so I have to take a lot of notes. My Professor aso incouraged us to blurt out answers in the middle of discussions which is all new to me. I kept raising my hand and he never seemed to noticed.

Pre Calc is something I'll have to really keep on top of. Our grade is solely based on 5 tests. No homework assingments, no make up work. So I'm will really have to crack down.

Composition feels the most like an actual class. It pained me though when i found out I'd have to write 3, 1500 word essays. I don't know how I'm going to survive.

Anyway, my first day was pretty good overall. My Professors seem nice enough and easy to communicate with. It seems I won't be able to game as much as I use to.
